Scroll to the bottom, to the section labelled "Peer Into a Tome of Secrets." From what I can tell, there's some new Chaos models - looks like Gorherds and a CSM Sorcerer - along with a new GK HQ model. Might be Crowe.

"It seems like two powerfully psychic forces are preparing to clash in an upcoming battle box. But the warp is fickle, and you’ll need to wait a little bit longer to find out exactly what’s going on here.

Pardon? Castellan Crowe? We’ve never heard of this man in our lives, and we have it on good authority that there’s no such thing as a ‘Grey Knight’. Sit still, and we’ll send along one of our helpful Inquisitors to show you exactly where you were mistaken."

I can see plastic Crowe, 1 NDK, and 20 strike/purifier marines for the GK side.

So can I, although not 20 strike/purifier marines. If they are keeping with the formula of combat patrols being 1000pts each, then (with our points changes) it would be closer to 10.

Another way to look at this... they might be announcing the next Codex after AM / Sisters / Orks.

GW teased GK coming in Book of Rust, now they have new models, next comes new rules.

And... there are Chaos somethings in that box. Maybe that means CSM get theirs at the same time.

Not to sound snide, but that's exactly what they have done and will do, seeing how they done that with Piety and Pain, and the other box set I'm forgetting. As I said before, their pattern is cinematic/teaser (as we saw) > boxset (confirmed) > codex (anticipated within 2months) > release (same time). To further complete the picture, they are releasing the books in series of three's - one chaos, one imperium, one xenos. Once you factor that pattern in, it's pretty easy to predict what factions will be next - and my guess is after:

1. AdMech/Sisters/Orks

2. GK/TS/Xenos (possibly CW eldar)

It will be Imperial Knights/Chaos Knights/Xenos faction, following the releases of War Zone: Charadon.

To further complete the equation, they had a tendency to release the factions in a very similar vein to the PA books - notice how example 2 is pretty much Ritual of the Damned all over again? Hope that helps.

Yeah, I thought the same, just not ready to say "that's the pattern, for sure it's coming."

I'm looking very, very closely at the armor on the GK character model. This could just be the artist's rendition, but...

- The Storm Bolter appears to be secured to the right arm via some kind of brace. Not mounted to the regular armor like traditional GK models.

- The left shoulder pad lacks any words engraved into the surface. It features an Inquisition symbol, not a book.

- The chestplate has some hard lines coming from under the shield to the center of the chest. Similar to an Intercessor.

- The right kneepad - which can only be seen towards the end - appears to be raised in a cupped fashion, similar to that of an Intercessor.

We might be seeing a Primaris Crowe.

I am a little confused. So we just got a book with special armies for Imp Knights, Admech and chaos?

The second charadon book has Chaos something and?

then there are codexs

Ad mech / sisters / orks?

and now Thousand Sons and Grey Knights box?

so you guys think that one of the charadon books will be TS and GK special armies and then the new codex later?

because that could be cool

One last thing. Becoming the Primaris is supposed to be dangerous and yet none of the major characters seem to have a problem and always survive.

Zooming in, the shoulderpad looks identical, same with the stormbolter and chestplate (albeit, it does look a bit different, but it could be me). The Kneepad, that is interesting, because it's definitely different from the sculpt from what we are seeing. Anyone else care to weigh in their 2c?

There is also a possibility that they deliberately gave us the old model, so they can release the new one in one of their talkshows.

I'll be honest, I'm struggling to make sense of what you wrote, could you re-elaborate please?

my assessment.

battle boxes tend to have a new character model and potentially 1 new unit kit. along with old ones.

guesstimate based on nothing below

Tsons

tzangoors x 20

rubrics x10

Amon x1

**?

Grey knights

NDK

x5 termies

x1 crow or stern in plastic

x3-5 new ( primaris in a new mark x armor that isnt any of the known ones, but will be locked to gk)

x5 purifiers

My honest guess is going off piety and pain

GKs:

Crowe (new model)

5 strike marines

NDK

Tzeentch:

Sorcerer (new model)

10 tzangors

vehicle/ daemon

something else

Further reasoning:

1-new sorcerer and Crowe are the Lelith and Palatine of the box.

2- strike squad is the equivalent model count wise for retributors & tzangors replace wyches

3- NDK replaced the immolator

4- what replaces venom and scourges any ones guess

I was looking for answers on the books / codex's we've gotten and are getting.

I think TS or GKs will get a blurb in Book 3 like they did for Cult of Strife in Book 1 for drukhari to build hype for the upcoming release. I think Book 2 will have Adepta Sororitas maybe orks.

So Book 3 than TKS and GK codexes.

Ok so you think it's just the regular army / codex but in short form in book 3 and not a special version (army of renown or whatever it's called)

and then later we'll get a full codex?

Correct it will be some updates to bring some units semi current then codex will release

Or a “formation” based on the fire and magic models

Shamefully, I haven't been paying attention to the boxed sets. Is Piety and Pain the only one we have for comparison?

While it would be easy to toss existing models into a box, I question whether this list would entice enough people to buy it. People with existing armies already have all those models, save the new Crowe and the new TS Sorcerer. New players would need to buy a lot more to have a 1000 point army.

NDKs are hard to pose, needed a jeweler's saw for the last one I built. Plus that nickname. GK players all have enough strikes already. Are people going to pay for a box (with a TS half they probably don't need) just to get Primaris Crowe?

My bet is they are going to focus mostly on new sculpts. Sure, there's an NDK and Tzaangor Englightened in there, but the rest is going to be Primaris GKs and TS Coven models.

Wild, unsupported, total wish-list guesses: Primaris Purifiers and Primaris Purgators in Heavy Intercessor armor. With Psi weapons. Would buy multiple boxes in a heartbeat.

Since 8th edition launched, there has only been a single box set that contained all new models (Shadowspear), which accompanied a CSM range reboot, and one other that contained a single new character + unit per side (Blood of the Phoenix). All others (Piety and Pain, Forgebane, Tooth and Claw, Prophecy of the Wolf, Wake the Dead, etc) were just a single new thing per side. The likelihood is that this is a new character for both sides and that's it, but we can't say for sure yet.

Ideal scenario: Strike squad model update.

Worst case, more plausible: literally just the same 5e kit (because between COVID and GW incompetence, we may be saddled with the same aging models again.)

Not gonna happen: Primarisification. That's a can of worms that wouldn't add much and that I can't see GW jumping at right now with a faction that's divergent enough from LSM to make it a minefield, the way "Primaris CSM" would have been during their own revamp.

No matter what we get, I'm very much looking forward to this box set, if for no other reason than it should set at least one argument to rest.

As far as speculative lists go, I like war009's the best:

  • Crowe (new model)
  • 5 strike marines
  • NDK

In this list we should see a new plastic Crowe, a new GK strike marines sprue and a new NDK. We are long due for an upgrade, but I think this will

will happen for very practical reasons on the part of GW. From a marketing point of view, this will be the perfect set to entice new players into sampling two of the more exotic factions in the 40K pantheon, as well as enticing veteran players with new models. Repackaging old models (even if there is a new Crowe model in the mix) will not revitalize GK sale, and GW knows this.

Based on the less than stellar art (figure-wise that is) in the trailer, I won't even attempt to speculate as to what these new minis will look like. I think GW did this on purpose, as this vague look will just fuel talk and speculation. However, once we get a better look (with a preview or the actual release) at least one mystery will be put to rest. Will GK's get the Primaris treatment or not? At the very least we will see better proportioned marines. With the better quality and better proportioned models all around, anything less will be unacceptable. Will they be Primaris???.... we shall see:dry.: Another thing I'm looking forward to seeing with these new minis are new rules:yes:

This is what I’m hoping for too. It would be odd if Crowe was the only primaris/true scale marine in the entire army, and he will be one of those two things. They wouldn’t update him and not make him at least new CSM size. So either way, he’s gonna stick out like a giant sore thumb.

So I’m confident we will at least see a new squad or updated old one in truescale also, to lessen the blow of the size difference between him and the other GKs. I’m pretty confident of this.

Yeah I feel in the vid they deliberately hid the knees so we can’t tell for sure if he’s primaris or not.

That's actually an interesting metric to tell whether a unit is primarisfied or not - I'll have to remember that. Upvoted.

Do we see the possibility of a rhino being added to the battlebox? If they are going for the fluffy approach, I can't think of anything more fluffier than a strike squad, NDK, Crowe, purifiers and a rhino all in one.

I don’t see the rhino in the box only because with Adepta Sororitas getting their own unique rhino and the shift of Adeptus Astartes to Primaris hopefully our grey knights being Santic Astartes will get their own rhino/ Razorback kit

Probably not for a two-player battlebox. GW has stuck with the same dimensions for most of these 40k battleboxes since at least 7th edition - 17 by 11 by 2 inches - and I can't see them fitting a rhino into one of those boxes that has the content we've been discussing. The NDK also fills in the "vehicle" slot for the battlebox, so that's another reason I don't think they'll include a rhino. But a GK starter box definitely could have one and a NDK if GW is feeling especially generous.
