Getting back in

Recommended Posts

Good Morning!

My name is Jose, going by Commissar Necros on the board. And just now seeing I have a typo in my screen name, so starting out great:biggrin.:

I'm getting back into the hobby after I fell out in college, around 2007 and 4th edition. One of the last big events I did was help with the 13th black crusade and running a 13th company space wolf army. Though from my readings of the new lore my efforts seem to have been...redirected.

I have a space wolf army that was in the midst of being painted when I stopped and a guard army I was collecting as a support for my grey knights(in that codex inquisitors could take guard as part of the army pre-detachments) so had a weird selection to get back into it with when I finally got everything assembled and collected together again after a couple decades. Back when I collected them you could wield huge platoons of heavy weapons, and squad ones didn't have to be one shared bases so it has been weird re-basing everything for this new edition and figuring how to fit everything into a list together. With 100 infantry models and no transports its hard to fit on the board anymore. Def could use some help with list building and adapting to the new metas.

Truthfully I've neglected my wolves at this point. They got a lot of love when I started them, almost every single one is bit swapped or modified, but my painting skills were not even close. I was fixing that when I stopped playing and now, they are missing more than a few bitz. SO they get put on the back burner until I can easily get about 20-30 backpacks and a couple score shoulder pads, which I had removed to make em easier to paint and have lost since then. I may start painting the tanks I have to try and get back into them, but with the primaris and stuff out its hard to get as excited for older models. Especially when new ones ride giant wolves!

I love to write and have started a couple stories in the 40k universe I may share at some point, and of course writing the lore of your army on the field is a huge part of the fun, so enough typing and time to pick the brush back up and prep for my first in person game since, like, 2007 tomorrow!
