So I've mostly been prepping my guard and have been focused there, but browsing these forums...has shamed me. Space wolves brought me in and right now all my wolves are broken up and primed from storage and an attempt to re paint some quite bad 15y/o paint jobs. So I need to start here with a list, to see what needs to get rebuilt and repainted first. Now I don't plan on buying anything yet until I get a handle on my backlog (100 guard inf and 20 heavy weapons teams) so ill list alternatives at the end.

So the Wolf Lord and the termies go big game hunting, either for characters or elite infantry. Grey hunters hold objectives while long fangs, speeder, and razorbacks go tank hunting. Blood claws, dreads, and the vindicator all move towards the biggest mess of the enemy to press the opponents objectives. Are combat squads useful? Old school it was better to have a huge volley to use, but with 2 wounds now they seem to be durable enough 5 maning it.

I have another pack of 15 Blood claws, 10 Grey Hunters, and Long fangs(2 heavy bolter, multi melta, 2 missile launchers, plasma  cannon). A predator annihilator, maybe a dozen various wolf guard, a couple captains, and a rune priest. Last I played we didn't have riding wolves or separate wolf packs, so I don't have any. Want some but that backlog is pressing down on that. This was also before relics and strats so could def use advice on that as well.

Looks fun! How are the Razors working out for you? you don't use them as transport? I've just scraped them from my list and replaced them for more dreadnoughts. since they are no core and can not re-roll anything, I get a lot of missed shots. then I rather run Rhino's to transport my Bloodclaws and block things. but maybe some drop pods would work great for your list with the Long Fangs.

The razorbacks are from 3rd and were originally for the long fangs. I don't really have the parts to run em as rhinos or I would now. 3rd transports were more like coffins so  getting around to using em more. Either some of those or drop pods are the first things on the shopping list after some primaris. The no rerolls thing is something I overlooked and am going to have to reconsider.

Ok so I've decided to keep the core of this, but start at 1000pts first to give myself a milestone. Going to strip the old paint of these guys and start repainting em. Focusing on stuff that is at a decent standard, or easy to strip. So with this I plan on bullying the middle of the board and objectives. One grey hunter squad holds the back field and everything else advances. The vindicator and dreads should give me enough AT and the grey hunters should be able to take on most stuff their size. The characters lead from the front, of coarse, but I'm not sure what to do with them. I want to use ragnar, but is he the best warlord? Better to give the wolf priest wolfkin/hunter aura or let ragnar be a blender?
