The points values in the MM are from their new codexes, they've released the pdfs so that you're not playing without the codex but with points that make no sense when compared with their current units. For example, the MM will have the points for Rubrics with 2 Wounds, they would make no sense for the CURRENT codex.

Super simple, no gaslighting required

This could be true- but it isn't what they said in the article.

Also, why wouldn't they just leave points as is for now- rather than publishing a separate interim version?

Are we reading different articles?

"Well, we’ve got a confession to make – the points values featured in the Munitorum Field Manual MkII for the Thousand Sons and Grey Knights are actually incorrect. That’s because their codexes were intended to be out at this point, complete with their fancy new rules and updated points values"

The only changes in the points from the "interim" pdf in the article to GK and TS are to the landraiders, Storm raven and storm bolters on vehicles which is more than likely in line with all other codex equivalent changes

I just really wish they jacked the cost up for heavy weapons! The landraider price is fine... The issue is just how many cheap weapons can ruin it immediately.

How could logistics be the reason for points changes?

So lets break this down.  GK and 1KS codexes are due out, lets say in March.  They have points values in those books.  Those books are not published on time for reasons we all can agree are likely TRUE.

So then at the end of May, the MM is published.  The points in this book are DIFFERENT from the codexes that were due out earlier and are WRONG.

This is incorrect, and you have misread the article. The point costs in MM are the same as the codex, which was delayed, but both are different from the current codex which has 1W marines etc.

The MM version will be points costs to reflect new faction abilities, etc, and not appropriate to use with the old codex, which is the current version due to delays.

So:

Current codex = points for 1W rubrics

New codex = points for 2w rubrics

MM 21 = Points adjustment for delayed codex with 2w rubrics

PDF = Point adjustment for 1W rubrics in 9th ed.

I think maybe you mean misunderstood instead of misread?  Because the things you are saying are things you have interpreted from the article, not things that are in the article.

No, the Munitorum Manual includes points for all books. Not just changes. The points in it for TS/GK are likely the same as in their codexes, which were due out by now but delayed.

The MFM will probably have new points for Sisters and Orks as well, unlikely to be different from the ones in the new codices.
Thy simply print out all the points in the game at a certain moment in time. If they thought this book would've been out when those 4 codices (Sisters, Orks and the last two they announced, GK and TS) were already out, the points are 99% likely to be identical.

Thx for clearing that up, was a bit confused when I first skimmed over the article, but this makes sense…

So basically the pdf is a temporary solution until the codexes drop and then we go straight to the mm points and skip the ones in the codex, in case i understood correctly?

Would love to see some more interesting matched play missions ala goonhammer approved: destroy the moon.

Don't think GW has it in them though other than in narrative play.

AOS has had excellent missions for the last three years (not perfect, but varied and interesting).

You are looking at a wrong list. Reanimator went down 30pts in the February Update, Nightbringer is unchanged as well.

Immortals are the same price, and no change in cost of Tesla? Hopefully another fake, because that's unbelievably disappointing if it's accurate

Tesla is free according to that picture, which jives with the previous leaks and the WarCom article.

I'm assuming TS and GK points changes would be with like 90% of their codex units right?

Chapter Approved isn't for updating rules.

Right off the bat if you want rules changes you'll be let down. Only things you can hope for are costs adjusted to make units viable.

There is a cost sweet spot where any unit can be useful.

Sure but just making things cheap is poor games design.

A Landraider is still not fixed if it dropped 100 points. It would just be cheap enough for people to overlook its flaws more easily.

Unconfirmed information:

Summary from discussion in the 40k discord overnight, no pics shown so can't confirm.

Linebreaker goes to 2pts for one unit allowing partial scoring

Similarly psy ritual is now progressive rather than all or nothing for 3/7/12

Domination changes to hold 3 and more than opponent

Scramblers progressive and 3pts per quarter so max 12

Cut off the head removed

While we stand we fight if units split and one dies only scores 3pts not 5

Teleport homer now gives 2 for doing it in no man's land

Pierce the veil now 3vp per time done

Mental interrogation now 24" but need line of sight (lol)

Assassinate gives +1vp for killing the warlord

Missions apparently identical, even the scouring.

One of the goonhammerers said on twitter that no review/preview copies were sent out so no vids on it today, just some leaks via shops over the next few days is all we can hope for
