Leaked points theory-listing/wishcrafting

Recommended Posts

Howdy folks, just cooked up a list using the leaked points from our incoming codex... now granted this doesn't take into account any changes the codex might bring to profiles/rules for both units and weapons, but I was curious to see how the changes affected my own lists, by which I mean what could I fit in in comparison to current points. Also none of the new shiny *mystery* upgrades have been taken, but that could be ajusted further down the road. As for the list itself, I'd actually be happy with it considering our current rules. If we follow recent speculation that points increases for Strike Marine equivalents mean an extra wound, that the increase to both the Apothecary and and Ancient means they will be brought in line with their Codex Marine counterparts and that our weapons (melee and ranged aka incinerators 12" range, etc) get brought on par with standard Imperial weapons, then I think it could be "hella' murder''.

What are you guys'/gals' thoughts?

GMDK (psilencer/psycannon/sword/tp): 215
GMDK (incinerator/psycannon/hammer/tp): 205
Librarian (sword): 105

3x 5 strikes (1x sword, 3x halberds, incinerator): 330

10 paladins (halberds): 470
brotherhood ancient (falchion): 105
apothecary (hammer): 110

10 interceptors (falchions): 240

5 purgators (psilencers): 110
5 purgators (psilencers): 110

total: 2000

Yeah now we have the codex, I'd have to remove a GMDK anyways. To be honest I'd swap one for Draigo and turn the 10 Purgators into 10 Interceptors, get lots of MSU Smites and contenders for the Psychic Action Secondary. I'd probably run it as Preservers, to get the 5+++ on them and get a big old Undying Anvil aura on the GMDK. I'll be posting a Swordbearers list soon, those who know me know I'm all about big tanks and stuff, so pretty pumped on trying to make them work!

I don't think we should write off purgators completely, I just think swapping to psycannons may be worth it. Especially with the 1cp strat to shoot at full BS after moving I think they could be incredible useful still. 12 shots at -2 and 2 damage will still put hurt on transports enabling our nemesis weapons to then do what they were made to do.

Yeah I agree pyscannons are the way to go if you want to run Purgators. Psilencers just seem redundant considering storm bolters/heavy psilencers on DKs that you're bound to take. Between Death from the Warp and Sanctified Kill Zone, with Psychic Onslaught to boot (ok 4CP is steep) they could really lay down the hurt out of deep strike, especially if they are Swordbearers and got Lodestone and Amplification off on their target. Cheap points-wise, but expensive CP cost kind of deal. For the amount of firepower you get I do feel the DK is a better investment for your points though, yes you're losing out on psycannon shots, but the heavy psilencer is ok and he's a lot more survavible, faster, doesn't need as many strats to stay effective... The loss of AA (or change to) really hurts them, as 30" range on those guns in Convergence is actually pretty cool.
