The Flesh of Fenris - FINISHED (07/19/2021)

Hey guys!
It's been a while. :smile.:

Since my last post, a loooooot of things have happened. The most relevant thing being that I finally got to play Kill Team, and... it's beautiful. Of course, it motivated me to work on my teams. And is there a better way to do that other than STARTING A BRAND NEW ONE? :biggrin.:
So, now that the narrative has been established, here's the obligatory plot twist:

This Space Wolves kill team has existed for quite a while now, but I've been way too lazy to upload it :smile.:
I started working on my marines in February, and finished two guys weeks ago. But for some reason, even though I uploaded the minis to FB and IG, I didn't think of posting them on any forum. Which means it's high time that I do. :smile.:

First things first: here's the group shot. :smile.:

Group Shot B

Here are the first two Blood Claws/Assault Intercessors, who don't feature any kind of specialisms.

Blood Claw 2A

Blood Claw 2F

Blood Claw 1B

Blood Claw 1A

Here's the Grey Hunter/Intercessor Sergeant and Leader of my team, equipped with a plasma pistol and a power sword:

Grey Hunter B

Grey Hunter A

And here's the Long Fang/Heavy Intercessor Gunner with the Heavy specialism. I guess that makes him a Heavy Heavy Intercessor. Or a Heavy Intercessor Heavy. What's your opinion on the naming issue? :biggrin.:

Long Fang E

Long Fang B

And ultimately, here are some detail shots that I'd like to post separately. :smile.:

Blood Claw 1 Detail A

Grey Hunter Detail A

Long Fang Detail

Blood Claw 2 Detail

I still have 2 more minis to paint. :smile.:

@andes: Thank you! It's not entirely what I had in mind, but then again, since they're gaming miniatures, too much effort wouldn't be a great idea, either.

@Bjorn Firewalker: Thanks a lot. :)

@space wolf: Thank you very much. They were really fun and easy to paint.

@Vinny: Thanks, man! I've always loved the contrast between the warm yellow and the ice cold blue. That was the main reason I went for Wolves for my kill team.

@Kolgrim DeathHowl: Thank you! And they're totally easy to make. :smile.:

Here's the next member of my Kill Team - a counts-as-Wolf Guard, a Bladeguard Veteran Sergeant with the combat specialism. This guy is an absolute beast and tears enemy space marines to shreds.

Wolf Guard D

And here's the pack in its current status of near-completion.

C&C appreciated! :)

I like the results, the muted, slightly more realistic colours without going full grimdark. It's an interesting balance. The assorted pack markings are executed extremely well too.

Thanks!

I've never been a fan of the baby blue, nor of the featureless grey. So I went for something like the middle ground between the two. Ironically, I achieved that goal by using pretty much regular wolf grey, and a few even brighter colors. :D

Excellent work on the Wolf Guard.

Thanks, man! :)

Wow , really nice and clean so to speak...the snow is a nice clean white so I guess I'm right :tongue.:

the colours do really look good there, i myself have always struggled to try and find the "Right" grey for wolves too, you look like you have nailed it there

My Favourite part is the skintones and stubble, that kinda makes them POP even more

well done or should i say SKAL!  :laugh.:

That's so much praise in one post, I don't know how I'm supposed to handle that! :biggrin.:

I'm really glad you like the grey color. I happen to have made tutorials on both the snow and the armor - I'll post them a little further below. :smile.:

Stubble seems to be a really important factor in making space marines grittier. A clean-shaven head usually makes them look younger, which isn't what I personally would want to go for. Then again... Raven Guard and Blood Angels, maybe. But not wolves. :smile.:

So here are the two tutorials I promised.

One for snow bases:

And one for Space Wolves armor:

++EDIT++

watched the wolfy one, very good, (I like your Humour  ) .. please do a skintone video, if it's anything like the other two it'll be awesome  .

One thing i l will say is this .... Averland Sunset is a great Base yellow.. as nice as the Yellow colour turned out it was still a bit agonizing watching you go from brown all the way up to yellow  :tongue.: .. hope to see more video's from you !!

Steal all you want, that's what it's there for! :biggrin.:

A skin tone video is in the making. Well, that means I'm thinking about precisely what I'm going to do, not actually filming yet.

I'm really happy you like these videos (and the humour in particular xD).

When I was younger, I used a dark brown as a base for yellow. That was a real pain - with the orange brown from VMC, it's pretty much doable. I'm of course not saying it's a blast, but it's much less of a hassle than... back then.

For now, there's no new video - but the finished kill team!

I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself.

It's not the level of painting I wanted to go for, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that I finally, after so many years, I got to finish a project. It took much more time than it should have, but it's done, and that's all that counts. :smile.:

Those wolves are beautiful! Both the iconography and the basing is gorgeous.

Thank you for sharing

That's a very nice thing to say. Thank you very much :)

It was a super fun project, and after the initial burst of joy, I'm now rather sad to have finished it.

There's only one possible solution to this - I have to buy another box of assault intercessors, add a wolf or two to the team (and a commander!) and start another team, this time Blood Angels. :)

How did you do the chests? Third party or shaving of the eagles and adding some greenstuff press moulds?

Great work all around!

Thank you very much :)

You're right with the green stuff, but wrong about the press moulds. :D

Everything that deviates from the standard winged skull is sculpted. I'm not too proud of most of them, but I think the BGV's wolf went pretty well. :)

Some fine looking Wolves.  Great job.

Thank you - I really had a blast working on them!
