I’m starting to add in Tzeentch Daemons to my Daemons collection and I now have enough units to play a small mini Tzeentch list. I’ve been thinking about some CSM or TS units I can add in that will play well with the Tzeentch Daemons. Can I have some recommendations?

I’m not thinking anything too crazy, either Ahriman or some Exalted Sorcs. Maybe a contemptor for utility.

right no I would wait as TS will soon get a new codex. But usually strong units to use has been daemon princes and exalted sorcerers.

Agreed, there is a box set with Grey Knights coming for Sons and a new codex too so it might be best to wait and see. If you're set on starting Sons then I'd start with a box of Rubrics or two and an Exalted Sorcerers box. The former as the line units is obvious; the latter is full of great bits and models so you'll be able to build some nice HQ models and use bits to spice up your Aspiring Sorcerers :)

It sounds like you have a similar approach to me in that you want a Marine focused Sons force, in which case options are limited but if you're running them as an allied force there's fewer points to play with anyway. Ahriman might be a bit pricey for a smaller force though he's a very cool model and good on the table top, I'd recommend looking at him later once you have some models done and a better idea of where you might want to go with your army :tu:

A Contemptor will be good especially adding some long ranged AT, but might suffer a bit from being an isolated AT target. Depends on your wider forces of course but it might be worth considering adding more, or going with normal Dreads to try and get more for your points. I'm not sure how well Sons work with Tzeentch Daemons as I'm not too familiar with them yet, but aside from some god cross over potential I think they should provide similar support in shooting, albeit being much durable than the Daemons of course.

I'm sure someone with experience of using the two armies together can help, it might be worth a cross post to the Sons section to get more opinions. Whatever you decide to do keep us updated on your progress :D

I don’t really want a TS collection. I do like their sorcerer models. Just trying to make up for some of the stuff Tzeentch Daemons lack.. which is usually long range shooting. I do know that exalted sorcerers add a title CC punch, which is nice.

Sons aren't going to help with long range shooting unfortunately as they lack it themselves outside of a few options that other Chaos Marines get too. If this is your main concern I'd look at CSM to add some long range to your daemonic forces, though the caveat here is that while their 9th Edition codex is also to come nobody knows when. It feels like not any time soon confused.gif

This could just mean more time to prepare your models first though msn-wink.gif You can keep the Tzeentch theme with the Marks, and make use of some Sons bits to spruce up Sorcerers or even the Marines themselves if you want some of the look too. If you want to stick to Sons and Exalted Sorcerers then you can still add some fire power, but you'll need to add some form of Dreads or Preds, you can get some from the Forge Fiend too but I'm assuming you're more after AT than not?

That's essentially what I was thinking and why I threw CSM in the title as well. I'm new to Tzeentch, but not very new to Chaos, so I'm intimately familiar with what you're saying confused.gif

I really only mentioned TS cause Tzeentch and I like the concept of Exalted Sorceres. I also like the idea that aesthetically, they'd fit together well. My main CSM Army is probably my Word Bearers and they are one of the reasons I started investing in more Daemons. Unfortunately, they don't really have any rules that reflect their devotion to Chaos. GW really needs to get it together already!

Indeed, there is much we can hope for in the new CSM codex... All I can say for sure is that models are forever unlike rules, so if you want to get some Exalted Sorcerers on the table then that sounds like a good enough reason to me. My main concern here is that you don't want to go "big", so initial investment on core units that can't add to your needs might not work for you.
