Hello,

i bought several Orks units because i liked the Mad Max theme.

I am a Space Wolves player and only partial/basic knowledge about Ork Armies.

Now i want to have a good list for 1000 points (1500 or 2000 later) and like some Guidance what to buy.

What i have

1x Deffkilla Wartrike

6x Warbikes

1x Boomdakka Snazzwagon

1x Kustom Boosta Blasta

1x Megatrakk Scrapjet

1x Shokkjump Dragsta

These 4 are inter-change-able since i don't have players that would complain if i declare "these 4 are all XYZ"

Hope you can give me some insight

Scrapjets are probably the best of the buggies at the moment, so more of those would likely be decent, especially with the Kustom job that allows them to double fight in melee. Dragstas can also be decent for jumping around the board to grab and undefended objective.

Assuming you want to be able to build a battalion you'll need some boyz. Put them in a truck or a battle wagon if you want to keep the Max Max vibe. They've shown off a new model for the Boyz, so might wait till later this year when those kits start coming out. The Beast Snaggas also look good for troops, but haven't seen what the point difference between them and Boyz is yet.

Nobz on Warbikes are at least currently really good. Being only slightly more expensive then warbikers while being harder to kill and hitting way harder. Of course the only official models for them are Forgeworld, but you can fairly easily put some nob heads and weapons on warbiker body's to build yourself a batch. With the new codex coming soon though we don't know if they will stay decent or get a massive price hike into oblivion. If you need to save the points warbikers are still okay as well, but I find the Nobz are currently the better option.

Bonebreaka Battle Wagon's are expensive but have some melee punch, can carry a small batch of boyz, and can provide some rolling cover for other units.

And while we have several decent Klan Kultures, the Deathskull one is the current all around best. That might change with the new codex though.

These are about 700points-ish, and fit into the fast attack (outrider?) detachment no issue. You have 5 slots, so space for one more. I'd start to double up on buggys so you dont run out of slots and can use everything.

From your position, things I'd want would be:

Big mek with SAG + Trukk+ shootaboys.

+1 Shokkjump or Skrapjet as they're the coolest and I think best at the moment.

Functional Army?

You need troops to hold objectives be them boys or grots, so 3 x 10 grots or 3 x 10 boys. (you may want cheap ones off ebay or wait for the new versions that will be about £30 from GW

You have 1 of each Buggy while it gives variety it doesnt give efficency.

You want to spend command points wisely and at present you can give an upgrade to a unit of 3 buggies for 1 CP (this may change in new dex)

Having all three Skrapjets means you can do MWs on the charge which is a great way of getting through invuns and amour, coupled with strats for ramming speed and unstoppable momentum you can get a lot of movement and do considerable damage to an enemy.

As you can interchange them then play all 3 as either Skrapjets or Dragstas. Then buy 2 more to have 2 units of 3.

At present people are using Kommandos for scoring Recover Octarius Data (Scramblers) as they can essentially deepstrike and score Engage and Scramblers.

You need some Kombat Punch so Meganobs in a Battlewagon could be an option along with a Warboss. The Meganobz kit comes with a Kustom Forcefield! An essential piece of kit for Orks.

A Warboss on bike would be similar to your War trike but the WBOB can take Da Biggest boss and the relic klaw to make him uber good.

Trukks for your infantry would keep them alive longer and more mobile.

Good luck
