Today it's been announced that there's a new, smaller starter set (the same, minus most of the terrain) with the same DKoK and Kommandos inside. They're also releasing the kill teams themselves separately.
I'm glad (though not exactly surprised, as it was always going to happen) that the DKoK are getting a separate release. You really need between 14-20 guys to make a roster for them, with all the options you have - especially since one of those is to bring 14 dudes!
I agonised about how to build my own 10 guys - and about which ones to not build. I haven't got a fanatic, demolition, bionic or melta in this team, yet. I'll definitely want some or all of those if playing them properly though.
One slightly odd thing is that I have 0 guys whose job is to shoot people with lasguns. Only 4/10 of them even have lasguns and they're all likely to spend their time spotting, healing people or bashing things with a club (which is somehow better than a gun).
I swapped around a few of the bodies and sets of arms. You can get away with that on a few of these guys but not all of them. There's also only one of the right arm that fits the bolter, melta and plasma gun, which is kind of stupid - especially as there are three suitable left arms. I was able to cut up a lasgun arm for my plasma guy though.
The vague plan is to paint these up as Steel Legion. I've recently painted an 8th army force for Bolt Action, mostly using contrast paint, and I think this could work well. I might use the Caunter Scheme for the vehicles if this ever became an army.
Oh and I have sprues with no less than 11 lasguns on now. Pew pew!
