Weathering metallics

Recommended Posts

Basically I'm torn between a pale blue metallic alpha legion scheme and a cyan/teal non metallic one.

One thing I want to do however is to weather the hell out of the armour, however I feel that my normal method, spongif on dryad bark, then silver etc, wont really work on a metallic base, and would look a lot better on non metallic.

Anyone have good examples or techniques for weathering metallic paint schemes?

Thanks!

It comes down what sort of metal you want to weather as different metals weather different.

A copper aloy will weather different than steel or iron.

Gold doesnt really wheater and silver tends to go black by oxydation.

You can spray dirt and discoloration with an airbrush. Some clear paints like Tamiya clear smoke are a good start.

Some sponge chipping may work to.

Oils and Pigments are the other part i would recommend too.
