The Bolter & Chainsword site rules for 3D Printing have been updated to bring the verbiage in line with the updates that Games Workshop made to their Intellectual Property Guidelines.

  • The link was updated from the old IP policy page to the current IP guidelines page.
  • The "policy" verbiage was changed to "guidelines."
  • The date was changed from November 2018 to July 2021.
  • The quote was updated to match the current guidelines.
No other substantive changes have been made at this time. The moderators and administrators are exploring areas where we can make further updates to our rules for 3D printing and further changes may be made. If that happens, we'll notify you of those updates.

For what it's worth, discussion and representation of 3D printing in the Warhammer 40,000 hobby is allowed here at the B&C. We will observe and enforce GW's IP guidelines, but there are plenty of areas in which 3D printing is valid and doesn't violate GW's IP guidelines. Any changes we make are likely to be intended to make it more clear that you can discuss and show 3D printing here, as long as it is legal and ethical to do so (i.e., you're not violating GW's IP guidelines).

One area that will not change is that you may not use the B&C for the distribution of 3D printing files. There are plenty of other sites that provide that functionality, and they are much better suited to that purpose.
