A new direction

Ok. So im getting pretty comfortable with 9th as im able to get my friends together most weeks now for a game or two, here's hoping that keeps up, and after some good luck in the middle im getting wholloped more and more now. My russ get taken out by multi-meltas or zappguns and then my infantry disappear on the objectives. In all honesty I think I'm splitting the difference too much. This week I tried an all armor list and I could devastate him in shooting, but by turn three or 4 he'd be up 30 or 40 VP by controlling objectives and denying me mine. So im going to go in the other way for a little while.

 

This list is at 1000pts and I have the cadian parts and will just need to get the krieg stuff. Id rather go kreig than ogryn because I just dont like abhumans in 40k. For this list I chose mortars to sit on back objectives with maybe an infantry squad or two to deny deep strike, then everyone else rushes an objective. I keep the kreig in reserve to force him to keep more than a token force in the back field, then they hopefully overwhelm one of my opponents objectives. This will be a net 2 objectives rather than 1 from taking another neutral objective. Then I will also be able to take board control secondaries more and rely less on killing specific things and have bodies for action abjectives.

Then if this works at 1000pts move onto 2000 and add a stormtrooper battalion with an expanded cadian section. Mostly the same plan. Krieg goes in reserve, with the engineers either leading the cadian mass or popping up later. The volley gun stormtroopers keep a back line with the mortars and however many more I feel I need to drop in on objectives later. Ill need the whole stormtrooper detachment to make it so long term so I wanan proof it with the smaller list.

I dont want to just spam cadians because they lose a lot on the move, and they just disappear when anything sneezes at them. Ive tried it and it was close but they're so fragile that they cant stand up. Hopefully this will overwhelm their swarm clearing stuff and nullify their anti tank stuff. The FNP on the riders will help, but I dont think ill get much from their regimental doctrine. Has anyone had any luck with this?

Very cool multi-regiment list! Plus probably can do the business, Cadian re-rolls + Creed is pretty solid. That is also a crap-ton of plasma... MEQ beware! I would consider swapping the Scion plasmas for meltas, you are kind of lacking anti-tank, IMO. Other than that seems legit, so much scoring potential/ObSec and good board control with DS Scions and fast moving Riders. I'm not super familiar with Krieg, but I wonder what the Engineers bring to the table?

I agree with TheWoodsman that meltas would help out the lack of anti armor in the list. Have you had good results with mortars? I ran a ton of them in 8th but the point increase make me hesitant to field them now. I kinda lean to lascannons in HWS in my head.

mortar HWS have been my most reliable units, especialy with cadian rerolls. I had planned to try this list today actually and got distracted by playing magic and never got to setting up. I think ill swap the plasma scions for melta and see, I heard what he was using and def need more tank killing power.
