Dreadknight to Defiler Conversion?

Recommended Posts

So I got a Hexfire box and am thinking of selling the GK's - however I had the thought that it might be possible to convert the Dreadknight into a Defiler, which I don't have, and which seems decent with the new rules.

I was wondering if anyong had thoughts on the idea - I'm looking for

1) maybe a photo of a size comparison between the two - do they match closely enough? Defiler has the area, but the knight is taller, I might be able to make it more hunched.

2) Anyone done this before? I'e seen some amazing upright defiler conversions, but not a dreadknight to defiler one.

Thanks for any input!

Google helps with Q1.

For Q2, I've never done it before, but I do remember this awesome Dreadknight to Chaosthingy conversion from a while back. There are lots of "Chaos Dreadknights" around the internet, but I can't find any Dreadknight to Defiler conversions.

Great thanks - I just googled dreadknight to defiler and that one didnt show up for some reason. I think it would work, but my gut it saying it's a little small. I'd need some pretty chonky limbs on it, or to make is striding forwards to give it the 'depth' in the y axis the defiler has.

That said, it's usually height and width that are issues in gaming, and with the base and height it seems pretty close to the defiler in both of these aspects. I'm wondering if it might make a better ForgeFiend?

I know this probably defeats the point of getting you a defiler out of the stuff you have, but have you considered combining it with a AdMech Dunecrawler, or maybe a chimera/dunerider/rhino/goliath (Lord of Skull style) to bulk it out area wise.

Haha, yea, the goal was to try and use the stuff I have with no additional purchases - for the cost of buying a dunecrawler, I could just getthe actual defiler kit, then sell the dreadknight and be up cashwise!

I need to go through my bits. I'm sure I do have some defiler arms somewhere, and plenty of leftover guns from a maularfiend. I also have another forgefiend on sprue, so I can use the lasher tendrils from that to make a scourge.

The lack of a base (oh, what innocent times when no vehicles, even walkers, had bases) can be an issue for sizing.

I think a good approach for the conversion would be to compare the Defiler to a Wardog; same toughness, two more wounds than the Wardog. The Wardog uses a 100 mm round base compared to the 120x92 mm oval of a Dreadknight. I, personally, would convert the Dreadknight to look like a smaller, stripped down Chaos Knight. Battle-cannon arm, big melee weapon arm, etc.
