Primaris Techmarine Relics (Deathwatch)

Need advice , I’m running a 2k list

It’s got :

Primaris Captain with dominus aegis

Primaris librarian

Primaris chief apothecary

Primaris master of the forge techmarine

Should I be taking a relic to protect my techmarine? He’s gonna be foot slogging with 3 redemptors. But I’m worried if he needs an invuln save ?

The captain and the apothecary and librarian will be baby sitting troops (cessors and outriders) on the other side of the map.

The librarian kills himself by round 2 every game so I’m loathed to waste cp on him having a relic.

Or maybe I should protect the apothecary too with a relic.

I’ve noticed people don’t seem to use life saving relics that much ? Am I missing a trick ?

I understand your concern as you want to protect your buffing characters for you list to be effective, most people avoid relics which help keep characters alive if the character is not front line, if your looking at a jp Chaplin for instance giving him the relic armour that add plus 1 to have save and wounds is great but for a captain only wanted for rerolls 1’s...

He should be protected by unit placement as 9 times out of 10 if the unit is dead the character will soon follow.

If your not in love with the librarian if you juggle some points you can likely afford a cheap psyker inquisitor and lieutenant.

Unless the relic is going to be useful 90% of the time I wouldn’t take it, your just wasting cp pre game.
Are your troop squads 3x5 intercessors with 5 bikes in each?

Can't say I am an expert, but if your techmarine gets to the point he needs extra protection it probably means his three bodyguard Redemptors around him are already dead, so at that point no invuln save will be enough to keep him around too...

I like the idea of adding an assassin though, that seems a very fluffy thing for the deathwatch to bring along.
