Rubric height Versus Primaris height.

The headdress makes them technically bigger, but without it, the primaris are ever so slightly bigger. But not by much.

I dont mean the minis mate. I mean in the theory. . Should they be bigger in the stories?

Haha you should have said so!  Model height comparisons are the most common. I do beleive in the narrative that primaris are still a touch bigger, primaris are described as being slightly bigger than their kin and I imagine the same is said for their dark kin. Although the warp probably changes this on occasion depending on who. But I think overall, rubrics are the same size as all non-primaris. Meaning they are slightly shorter(not counting head dress).

Why do you think they would be bigger/smaller?

As with any populations there are taller and shorter Marines, the 7 feet (or 8 feet, it keeps on changing anyhow) is just an average.

Rubrics where created out of 30k era marines, which compared to 40k era marines might be in better condition as the geneseed had not had time to degrade, but that probably mostly affects implant survival rate and physical fitness and not necessarily height.

Primaris where developed from 30k era geneseed stock, thus potentially eliminating geneseed degradation (or at least reducing it) and while it does add two extra organs, to my knowledge this should not affect average height.

Lastly we have to consider is if rubrics, with the loss of a body inside the armor, would be susceptible to any shrinkage. I do not know how custom each suit of power armour is, but if it is mass produced with adjustability setting built in to fit different bodies and then there is no body I would assume they would go back to factory default, so approaching average?

So I guess the long winded answer is on average they should be sameish, it depends on the individual.

I think you are all very right. Ultimately though I think that because rubric marines are cooler than primaris that in all fairness they are likely slightly bigger aswell.

I think that an army of rubrics rising up out of the sand to splat some blue primaris should look slightly down on them.

I wonder if I cut up a box of rubrics if i can graft the armor panels and stuff onto a box of intercessors. Tall heads and maybe little half mm spacer under their feet should make them bigger i bet.

no need to chop up precious Rubrics, parts fit just fine on Primaris :whistling:

Haha you little legend. What model is that blue one?

I've ordered a box of rubrics to try and make a start on first unit of primaris rubrics aswell. Is that eagle head one the scibor base bits?

This is a dangerous game to play. I might try and surgically remove the panels with the trims from the rubric arms and legs and chest panels and graft them onto the primaris somehow. This essentially opens up all the primaris models aswell as all the chaos models to twist into the sorcerors fold.

Also what's your recipe for that green flame if you dont mind me asking. It looks pukka

:biggrin.:

The Blue one was this guy, he's practically Chaos already...

yup, Gravis Captain is on a Scibor base, and the green flame was something like:

white base, hexwraith flame (but not total coverage) then old ork flesh wash, just the edges (or suitable dark green even black could work) there might also be some yellow/green glaze in there too)

I'd love to do some traditional Rubrics out of Primaris, but got too many other things to work on at the moment! love to see how you get on.

That first blue guy is awesome and could totally either be an Exalted with Paradigm of Change or a Cult of Mutation Sorcerer with the Mutation Relic. Either could make you swol. LOL. It would also be funny to have a "mini marine" done in the exact same pose and paintjob and then switch the two when he casts "Swollen by the Warp." :)

Nice. I'm going to have to grab one those chaps , he can be my first aspiring sorceror to lead some rubrics I bet.

I was aiming to have the sorcerors with bare heads or some bit of pale flesh somewhere to show that they are alive but all the helmets look so cool.

Green glowy flamy type stuff seems to look good on the thousand sons.

I hopefully make a start and do a test model fri night or sat. Got a sweet base recipe set and sorted that's perfect for these.

I've only done 2 bare-headed sorcerers....and they ended up very different :biggrin.:

first of all I wanted to do a true son of Magnus so used the same skin tones I used on the big guy:

then I tried the slight more "pale, sickly Flesh-changy" type (using a Space Wolf head of all things, and bad camera settings!...):

so far that's the only bare headed ones i've tried (not counting the hooded guy or the bird head :happy.:
