Interesting 4th place list - IWTS Open

Hey all. Was persouing 40K Stats and came accross the results for the IWTS Open, a 35-player event that happenned in August. Not a huge event, nor I think a major infliuence on the global meta... but still I thought it was a cool list. The guy took fourth place with a IG/IK soup... and check this its basically a Lambdan Lions Tempestus Battalion and an Armiger Warglaive Super-Heavy detachments. Here's the list, I really do think it is interesting (and really, really cool) to see this kind of list do well.

++ Total: [102 PL, 1,995pts, 8CP] ++

Obviously the Armigers form a kind of aggressive vanguard, plus add in some heftier anti-tank. They especially draw fire away from the gunships and Tauroxs, and can hopefully help in pushing back the opponnent and opening up some spots for the Deep Striking units to come down. I don't know what he came up against, but #1 and #3 are your classic Raider-spam, combined arms Drukhari and Terminator and Deamon Engine-heavy DG with plenty of Poxwalkers for screening, objectives and Spread the Sikness. #2 is Space Wolves, so not as hot as Drukhari, Admech, Sisters or DG but the list is pretty savage with all those Bladeguard and fast combat units. What do you guys think?

Warglaives are a good combo for Guard, especially Scions. Not surprised this did well in the hands of a presumably good player.

I would probably drop the fliers and add another Warglaive and more troops personally. But nice to see a Guard list do well. :)

Looking at this week's Metawatch on WHC, top players seem to be focussing on objective/board control based secondary objectives, and of course the primary is all about objectives. The Taurox are pretty easy to hide too, they are pretty small and compact. Plus their firepower at 3+ BS isn't bad. Good anti-horde too with that loadout, that Scions can lack, though he's got a few hot-shots to fish for mortals.

Actually I think would drop the Bullgryns for two small units of Crusaders to do actions with. Just a bit cheaper and more mobile. I'd also potentially add anothe Warglaives for more forward pressure or a Helverin for backfield objective holding.

The Manticore isn't that necessary, as the list has lots of deepstrike-capable special weapons, so LOS is not as much of a concern as in other locations lists. Plus, it would need another detachment and at that point you're looking at a fundamentally different army.
