Will update later with pics.

Pics in news and rumor.

I think rail gun will get 2 upgrade options, a single shot or multi shot.

Some attachment for pulse carbines

New pistol?

Lots of new heads, some new legs

There are a bunch of neat upgrades shown and the heads look nice, but honestly it's not nearly enough to make me buy them considering I already have 30 Pathfinder sitting on my shelf. At the end of the day they are still the same old Pathfinder models. I hoped for something more fancy after seeing all the AoS Warcry/Underworld goodness and then the DKoK and Ork Kommandos teams.

Kt rail gun, now has a alt fire, dart round.

And a support system to shoot overwatch at Bs skill.

I'm curious to see if any of this carries over to 40k

I’m curious about if the “debonair shades” (not very good look IMO) offer any actual benefit that they would have to be depicted for, or if they are just alternate heads - I’m hoping it’s just alternate, because I prefer my Tau helmeted even more than my Marines.

I think I’d prefer to keep the “weapon inertial dampers” type things to a minimum in the larger demi-company level game, although if it remained a one figure option, or an all squad option, it would be okay.  There’s enough bookkeeping already though, adding in more multi-figure options like that would just compound (although could make GW even more money through token sales or something - not that I want them to have those kinds of ideas).

I mean, we can only extrapolate so much from visuals alone but if we maybe use orks as a baseline to run with for now, we may figure some things out.

New gear isn't out of the question, Kommandos got new gear. This could be in the form of upgrades or straight new weapons, the medic pistol likely being something that will transfer over into pathfinders most likely much like how the distraction grot did, however less of a unit becoming a special ability and more just a new ability you can take.

Stat's wise we can hope and dream that tau shooting if it remains garbage will at least have the ability to get reliable shooting otherwise. Possibly being a faction where re-roll to hit is more common or possibly BS manipulation to compliment positive hit bonuses. Hard to say.

Will be interesting to see what comes however if the kit gets represented in 40k proper, we may see pathfinders gain a datasheet with a laundry list worth of options.

New game, how to spot the kill team unit in your codex! "Does it have a BILLION options that are 1 per 10 models in the squad?"

The thing with new options for Pathfinders is that they would still be the same squishy T3 W1 Sv5+ models though. It's not that they're bad with their special rifles already, it's that they die to a stiff breeze. Any upgrade that doesn't help them survive is likely going to be wasted points I fear.

Almost makes you wish they were a troops choice really. Could be an interesting concept where each strike/breacher team can have one "paired" pathfinder squad that is considered a troop choice instead of a fast attack, gaining ObSec but losing their initial pre-game move. Would mean taking them isn't so painful, especially when there are better options in fast attack or even the fact that getting only 3 squads of them isn't enough to really to get to use those nice weapons of theirs.

To be honest, with how Orks got boosted and that trend has so far been fairly consistent I wouldn't be surprised if tau weaponry across the board got much more intense in general though I could see them being given a codex like Necrons, Good but it doesn't really have bite like other codices have. However I would think that Tau weapons like even just the Pulse Rifle will get a boost, ether in strength or AP, while things like the Blasters imo could easily get increased damage at shorter range, I do dream of blasters being damage 3 at range 5""

How about pulse weapons doing 2 damage to put the SM back in their place?

"When Everyone is damage 2, no-one is"

Kind of feels like a trend at this point. Only gun at this rate being damage 1 is going to be Lasguns and Boltguns.

Boltguns starting to feel like that meme with the men at the gallows.

"I'm can't kill anything!"

"First time?"

I honestly hate that GW keeps raising the damage output more and more in 40k. The armies already are twice the size of AoS armies because the only way they can deal with units being instantly deleted is by making them cheaper so you still have something on the board turn 2. W2 Marines was a nice change of pace because it meant that Marines could actually take a hit instead of feeling like slightly tougher guardsmen for once. However since I don't see GW nerfing everything else ... sure why not, let's give pulse weapons D2. Won't make the game worse than it already is and maybe at least give T'au a chance to compete again.

Looks like path finders get a drone controller option. Thrilled!

My hopes of a system upgrade suite for troops looks like it might be real?

Assuming they get options for

Stim pistol (heal allies)

Drone controller

Rail gun upgrade

Carbine upgrade

That destabilizer thing dark strider has

I don’t think that most of the KT stuff ported over to squads of Orks or IG for the standard 40K game though, did it?

I could see the great majority of this kit doing nothing in a 40K game except looking more interesting than the same old squads (unless you’ve been converting them for a while).  Good stuff for KT though, glad there’s interest by GW in making all the rest of the units look the part of the specialists as well.

I don’t know, this particular KT box doesn’t excite me near as much as it should given it has terrain I’ve wanted with the bonus Pathfinder stuff, but it just isn’t grabbing me.

I will quietly hope.

Also on the rumored darksrtrider, I wonder if (small chance) we might get a new generic Pathfinder character to build
