Helbrecht's arm?

I'm double checking this with more BT players.  But I was under the impression that the original Helbrecht model had a bionic arm with the large gear at the elbow and the two pistons for the forearm.  Then GW posted this in the article today.

"He also lost a hand fighting Imotekh the Stormlord since he last got a model – a nugget of lore that’s been faithfully represented on his new miniature."

I was under the impression that the Imotekh encounter was just added later on to explain how he lost his arm?

You are correct, the Imotekh lore was added later in the Necron codex (5th ed I think) and it was the reason he had a prosthetic arm but the miniature always had it and its much older than the lore of Imotekh chopping his arm off.

The people that write the articles always get something wrong, I assume they get some talking points and then they have to fluff it up themselves. I think its undertsandable mistake, the old mini was always painted in gold/bronze and that included the robotic arm so it can be easy to miss unless you are familiar with the miniature.

redmap got it right. Having never owned the miniature myself, i had to make a double take, to check that the bionic arm on the original was really there, his hand looks powergloved with everything painted in the same colour as his armor. It's easily missable if you haven't held and painted the model yourself, something the article writer hasn't

That all aside, didn't crossing the rubicon mean he could've had his hand back? Regardless, i don't mind the new hand being easier to spot.
