I’m not trolling and am pretty much the only active poster in this sub forum.

I've just treated myself to a decent resin printer and curing machine, and signed upto the Laserforge patreon so expect some more posts from me in the near future for a weird mishmash of GW plastic and printed resin primaris army

I read on this board, that flamers doubled as meltaguns in older Editions of the game. I only got into it in Fourth Edition, so the melta and the flamer were made separate weapons before then. Comments from those who played Second Edition games?

2nd 40K:

The first iteration of the Multi-Melta had two firing modes: Single shot and template whereas the latter had the heavy flamer profile. Later in the edition this ability got deleted and the MM remained with the single shot option.

I think this ability was unique to the Dreadnought MM rather than a general option. All the heavy weapons on Dreadnoughts had a special rule to buff them over the regular infantry versions. MMs had the option to flame instead, fast firing weapons could ignore the first JAM result on the fast fire dice each turn. Can't remember if there were any others.
