I'd also vote for offworld Guard, though I gather people also want to see some PDF forces? Of course, there's no reason to limit ourselves to a single regiment or regimental homeworld :)

WRT fighting in the water, I could easily see a battle fought on the seabed between necrons, Knights and Astartes, no need to involve new data sheets :)

At the end of the Indomitus Crusade (since that gives us most of the Ultima foundings to play with if we want)

Just had another thought: what if we were to have an unnumbered sons force involved, who use our project as the foundational event of their Ultima founding? A chapter whose identity and characters we could then carry over to an eventual sequel project? (Sort of like how a lot of the Imperial Armour books followed the Red Scorpions and in particular Carab Culln)

I have no much interest on the unnumbered sons, never found that specific line of story interesting, but I would like to use our DiY chapter

Guard are technically only guard off world. If they are from that world they are PDF. Exceptions for war worlds like Cadia or Armeggedon.

I think one of the recent White Dwarfs had rules for underwater combat. Most open-water engagements are probably gong to be on an entirely different scale to the 40k game anyway - so you'd have zm style boarding actions, aquatic landings or pitched battles on open decks rather than hoards of small boats and divers going at each other in open water.

I like the unnumbered force turn individual chapter idea, tbh.

Could be combined with a Torchbearer force, which made a halt to replenish supplies.

The DIY chapters could either be used as separate teams assigned to said fleet or as part of a Deathwatch contingent.

There are several ways to implement our stuff.

I think we should redo the planet type portion of this poll since things like hive and ocean or knight/holy are not exclusive of each other.

This raises a good point ^

I had an idea on how to combine some of the most popular planet options:

An ocean world (We all know I love the deep sea stuff) with large floating (hives) that house the millions of fisherman and floating farm farmers (pseudo agri world) on the planet

An ocean world (We all know I love the deep sea stuff) with large floating (hives) that house the millions of fisherman and floating farm farmers (pseudo agri world) on the planet

Or

- A planet with only one Australian sized continent that is covered by a hive

- the hives are built on the seabed and the hive tops are sticking up out of the sea like urbane moantain islands

- the farming is of algaes, that is then processed into foul tasting but rather nutritious biscuits, oil or bio-promethium

- the hives are actually the farms, with much space inside the hive-stakes take up by indoorfarmings

- the whole ocean surface is covered with sargassum like seaweed, making the planet appear brown-green from space, the seaweed is gathered up by ships ranging in size from small to humongous, that then take their load to the hives for processing

- just becouse it's an ocean world don't mean it can't be plenty of land, maybe there are no continents but lots and lots of islands.

- maybe large part of the ocean are covered in mangrove

- the ocean is mostly shallow, between 0.5-2.5 m deep, making large ships impossible to use in most areas

Isn't clicking on several options sufficient?

I do like a lot of those agri-ocean world proposals though

Waterworld concepts:

- the ocean have Dead Sea level of salt, native flora and fauna need to be desalted to be edible

- as above but the world is so cold that it would be a iceworld if it was not for all the salt keeping it from freezing

- coral constructs grow in arcane patterns around black monoliths

- Lots of islandds but they are rocky with little arable land, making frute or vegetables other than cultivated kelp a luxury. Subsistence food for the islanders consists of clams, lobsters, small fry – anything that lives close to shore.

- the hives have poluted the sea, making it glitter like a ranbow from oils and toxines, little of the original native life exist, but aquatic animals that have adapted, mutated or been changed by bio-hereteks exist (think the animals/monsters from Necromunda, but all aquatic)

- the planets crust are riddle with air filled caverns and tunnels, many which you can only enter from the seabed.

- the seabeds are covered by ancient ruins, pointing toward that much of the water have been brought to the planet sometime after the the now ruined structures was built

Agriworld concepts:

- continent sized areas of shallow sea (0.5 - 3m deep) are covered by mussle farms

- kelp farms

- native sea anemones are farmed for their bio-cemicals that are used in [poison / beauty products / rejuvenat treatments / servitor brain lubrication / nobody knows but the Navigator houses are paying good money for it / etc.]

- normal-ish fishing but instead of canning it they dry it / turn it all into Garum / dry it all and turn it into powder (bones and all) / they throw the live fish as it is into a meat grinder and then can it without sorting out anything / etc.

It is either Agri or Hive those are exclusive but a balance is just called a Civilized World. Agri means all or most the world is dedicated to farming while Hive is the opposite with Production and large human population. Forge Worlds mostly started as Hive Worlds it literally is a difference of productivity and who is the majority in leadership that is the difference between Forge and Hive. Civilized meanwhile is some balance in between both extremes. That being said there are also Mining Worlds which are populated like Hives but their resource is raw materials of some sort instead of food stuff. I say call it a Civilized Ocean World whose main productions are split between food stuff and raw materials that can be combed from the salts ( and other minerals) in the water and stuff like Coral. And just because I like the game we can have whole sections of the world way too dangerous due to large predators like in subnautica. (If it was only food stuff in the proto hives then Admech would only be present in so low numbers their would be no Skitarii and hardly anybody of rank, by adding a resource mining piece to it Admech and Knights would have a stake in the world. Adminstratum vs Mechanicus leadership divide argument. This provides a bit more versatile option.

Idea: The name "Aguin Lir" means "floating place". The planet is famous for its floating islands. Teaming with life its islands drift on the planets ocean, a phenomena caused by helium and other gases trapped in porous rock - spewed out from subaqueous volcanoes.

That isn't actually true. Most Forge Worlds were founded exclusively by Ad Mech explorator expeditions, many during the Mechanicum's pre-Imperium Long March efforts, and have deep seated infrastructural and cultural differences to a hive world. You can also have massive variances in production output between different forgeworlds as well as the Mechanicus' lesser demesnes.

A lot of Hive Worlds are also founded or discovered by Explorator Fleets of the Admech. It is very true there are cultural differences. I did note who is in charge is a major factor. Hive fall under the Administratum and Forges under the Mechanicus. But by definition of the world charting done by the Astra Adminstratum and Ordo Astra of the Inquisition. Hive Worlds who reach a certain threshold of productivity are handed over the Mechanicus and if they fall under a certain threshold they are de certified for lack of better term into a Hive World. The major Forge Worlds are indeed pre Imperium or founded during the Great Crusade when the Imperium was fledgling. This is partially due to stagnation and lack of proper maintenance most things get in a hive world. Besides structural differences have a degree of causing the productivity differences.

Hive worlds have more Admech then other Imperial worlds (outside of Forge Worlds and research planets who belong to Admech) due to this productivity thing and the Admech’s monopoly on technology that even Hive facilities are run subordinate to the Nearby Forgeworld.

Sure. It is getting into nuance details anyways. For the topic here. It is still favoring Hive and Ocean. I think Ocean Biome is pretty there since the poll had most the biomes listed and they were well known. But as far as Hive, Agri, or whatever type as I listed earlier there is a bunch of variety there we can play with.

Want to point out that Knight world have third mosts votes after hive and ocean.

This implies that the world have or had some kind of danger that needed Knights to defend humanity

Or maybe it is just important to Knights like they harvest materials that are energy rich that feeds reactors or weapons of Knight and Titan class vehicles. Knights could have a small sampling of Men at Arms who are their to ensure relations and good delivery of materials and eventually escalate where they call their masters the Knight pilots.

I'd like to propose to give the world a plasma core like Naboo from Star Wars.

Along with food and other supplies for regular troops, plasma would be essential as energy source for Knights.

It would also bring in another subsect of the AdMech in the form of the Sacristans.

I had an idea where a Knight Baron's second born son chooses to become a Rogue Trader, as he knew his older brother would inherit; but when his older brother unexpectedly dies without an heir, the surviving Knightly Vassals chose the Rogue Trader to lead them. The Rogue Trader employed the Knights aboard his ship, as self-propelled antiaircraft guns to destroy shuttles bearing enemy boarding parties, and to provide his own shuttles with covering fire when he dispatches boarding parties. I also had elaborate plans for a "Space Knight" kitbashed with Stormhawk/Stormtalon parts, so the warsuit may fight in space, escort shuttles entering an atmosphere, and serve as Heavy Support for ground troops deployed from the shuttles. (The Knights require heavy-lift shuttles to exit a planet's gravity well, as the warsuits' fuel tanks are too small to provide the continuous thrust necessary; but by then, the battle should be over, meaning nobody should be shooting at the departing Knights.)

In short, say a Rogue Trader brought the Knights to serve as supersized honor guards with which to impress the planetary governor, and make the latter amenable to his business proposals. When the enemy rudely interrupts their negotiation, the Rogue Trader orders the Knights to punish the enemy. If the conflict is fought upon an ocean world, employ my proposed "Space Knights" the way the Royal Navy once employed Sea Harrier strike fighters.
