Dealing with Mortarion in lower points

Scratching my head on how to deal with this guy. My league is at 1250 and there are two people playing him, they have been playing him since 1000 points actually. Either my next game or the upgrade to 1500 I will have to deal with one of them. I have Nightbringer that I plan on bringing with possibly a scarab swarm to reduce smite damage, but aside from long range AT whats the best way for necrons to deal with him? He is pretty much impossible to ignore with the massive amount of debuffs, melee, and psykic abilities he tosses around in a big foot print.

Im not running the league. Hell, one DG player brought a plagueburst crawler at 500, he is using two now, plus Morty. This if I get T1 means no squishy objective holders since I use two squads of Tomb Blades.

I always liked my old store's league rules for less than 750 a few editions back. 1 HQ(no named), 1-3 troops, up to 1 for each other slot. No 2+ saves, no more than 3 wounds on any model, No toughness higher than 8, at the time no vehicle with an armor value higher than 32(back in the days when a Chimera had armor value of 12/10/10 and rhinos 11/11/10(I think).

Playing Morty at low point levels is a bit cheesy. The best advice I can give is focus on Objectives and play around Morty as best you can. He is a beatstick and a damage sponge but he can't win a game by himself if the rest of his army is dead. Tarpit him with some cheap scarab swarms and focus on scoring those Objectives.

The answer is to ignore him. He can not be everywhere at once and you will struggle to pull him down with less than 2k of firepower. Win on points and wreck the rest of the force. He is a meat missile so it is usually pretty easy to predict where he is going. Feed him your lesser stuff and focus on your objectives. Good luck!

If I run into him in the next game I will send a screen of scarabs, the night bringer, and a canoptek tombstalker for the gloom prism to tie him up and possibly bring him down. Keep the scarabs in base to base and the nightbringer .5" away and maybe bring the stalker around the edges. The one player I know their list for is also fielding two plagueburst crawlers so in addition to one of the lord HQs, he cant have many more units for my tomb blades to destroy. Their primary mission in any game is to destroy objective takers/action doers and so far they do it very well. Depending on the situation my heavies will engage one crawler at a time.

Not sure what the other DG player is fielding and not too worried about the 3rd player as she is very new and I have already played her and the "You cant beat the dice" phrase applies well to her too even with two of us coaching her.

Plaugueburst Crawlers are very good for their points but if you can tag them in combat with something cheap and fast, you can stop them shooting at anything important for a turn or two. Your sacrificial units don't even have to do any damage, just keep it occupied. The Mortar is probably the best weapon and that can't fire into melee although the secondary weapons will likely cause some damage.

Outrider detachment of Scarabs. 6 units of Scarabs is what, 250 points? Plenty of room left over for other units to play the objectives and pick off whatever else he brings.

If someone thinks it is fun to bring Mortarion and two PBCs to a low points league, that is just the level of annoyance they deserve.

Aside from 'just die' you can throw the model out a window. There's nothing you can do.

Can't hide from him, can't fight him, can't 'just hold objectives lol'.

There's the nightbringer and ungodly rolls... But -1 dmg and fnp makes it disgustingly unlikely...
