Trying to fight the cause for Sword Brethren over BGV, for being relatively cheaper but also a more efficient recipient of 5++ and still able to make use of cover. Also in this size, the Chaplain buffs become a lot more efficient!

10 Sword Brethren (284) - Holy Orb, 2x Thunder Hammers, 2x Lightning Claws, 1x Sword of Judgement & Champion of the Feast, 3x Power Swords, 2x Chainswords

 

5 Hellblasters (165) - Assault Plasma

 

Impulsor (150) - Multi-Melta, Bellicatus Array, SBs

 

998pts, 50PL, 4CP remaining

 

 

 

Basic concept:

 

- Incursors dig in on an objective

 

- Sword Brethren blob advances with Chaplain providing 5+++. When close to combat this switches to re-rolls to hit and +1A for devastating melee. Holy Orb can also be thrown in where necessary. Sword Bros can also be made Obsec via strat.

 

- Impulsor takes Hellblasters, they pop out and back into it via Devout Push shenanigans. Redemptor tries to keep pace and uses strat for re-roll 1s to hit for itself and the Hellies if they need to Overcharge (likely always!)

Variation to include the Bike Chaplain (he's just too good):

 

Primaris Chaplain on Bike (140) - Master of Sanctity (Divine Protection, Oath of Glory), Benediction of Fury, Heir of Sigismund (Wise Orator & Paragon of Fury)

Redemptor (185) - Macro Plasma, OCG, Rocket Pod, SBs

10 Sword Brethren (268) - 2x Twin Lightning Claws, 2x Thunder Hammer, 1x Sword of Judgement & Feast Champion, 3x Power Sword, 2x Chainsword

 

5 Hellblasters (165) - Assault Plasma

 

Impulsor (130) - Multi-Melta, SBs

 

993pts, 3CP

 

 

Chaplain is now a beatstick (S8 with Oath of Glory, dishing out damage 3 and potentially loads of attacks) and also keeps up Divine Protection on the SB until it's time to close in with re-rolls to hit. Dropped missiles on Impulsor, otherwise unchanged.

Ah I see, makes the Hellies more fragile. Still 3+/5++ but more fragile. Maybe using Dreads for the heavy support weapons is better.

Incursors grab objectives early on and dig in. Crusader Squad advances as big blob with 5+++ and Redemptor. SBs ride in Impulsor to threaten backfield.
