What do you guys think? Will we get JPs for Primaris CC-units in 2022? That would be a huge step towards Primarised SG and even Dante!

Snips from the WH40k:Space Marine 2 game trailer:

To be honest, After seeing that I'm now wondering how firmly I attached regular backpacks to my Assault Intercessors... Edited by Majkhel

If we got any melee jump infantry I'd want melee inceptors. They could easily fix/rewrite reivers grav-chutes to count as grav packs so they could be considered jump packs. I still don't understand why they haven't done this. Make the grappling hooks, which are terrible do something else, or act as jump packs.

If they used the introduction of JP's to streamline the datasheet bloat, that would be interesting. Consolidate (First Born)Assault Squads and Intercessor Assault  Squads into a single datasheet, so the only difference is a matter of aesthetic.

I'm not sure a Inceptor melee unit would be overly useful for us BA specifically. It would already be competing with VV's, DC and SG, so I'm not too sure what design space they would fill for us. Other chapters like BT and WS's maybe.

What kind of weapon profile would they need in order to differentiate from what we already have? we already know what the datasheet would look like, maybe not any data sheet abilities GW would tack on to trigger FOMO and move product, but maybe a fight twice mechanism inbuilt so they dont use up CP.

Melee Inceptor - 3-6

M10"/WS3+/BS3+/S4/T5/W3/A2/Ld7/Sv3+

Weapons

??????

(Primaris Heavy Thunder Hammer) - Melee - Sx2 - Ap-4 - D4 - Abilities - minus 1 to hit

Abilities

Angels of Death, Combat Squad, Death from Above, (Inevitable Fight twice because Primaris)

Inceptors with melee weapons look goofy as can be. The posing just doesn't work, looks like it would just haplessly attempt to wave around its arms.

They could take a leaf out of the Angry Marine's book and take power feet to stomp the Emperor's enemies to death!

I disagree. Aggressors are sneakily strong melee beasts. Inceptors would look just fine with dual wielding power swords or claws or insert melee option.

There are so many good options from the generalized primaris, that they stand alone well and take nothing away from the identity of each chapter.

Indeed, having seen the design, I want a unit like it, mostly tacticus but with a a jump pack that’s not quite the shrike one and not quite the classic one plus ankle thrusters, i would love for it to be a fairly hard hitting unit. But I’d also be down for it being one with movement shenanigans tbh (elites and fast attack respectively)

i like gravis a lot (a lot more than terminators personally - especially with the updates to its design in more recent gravis kits). However I do not really like the inceptor design and feel like it its a bit too blunt hammer looking for what i want out of jump infantry - especially for my boys in red who i always view as having an element of grace and agility.

Inceptors suffer a bit from being one of the first Primaris kits and I would say that their design needs some refinement. The main thing about them that I dislike is that while they do have all the Space Marine's walking-tank chunkyness that we like, they also somehow feel like

:P

They look like what they basically are - gunboats.
Heavy Intercessors Gravis designs feel much more CC-capable, but I would definitely like to see Tacticus JP variant in this role.

I’d like either a fast hard hitting melee unit or a super mobile objective scorer, so as stated above, either good weapon options and damage dealing rules on elites or okay weapon options and movement shenanigans in fast attack

Soooooo, with new "Gravis Fighting Styles" (https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/0Cd856c5Bsgn60gu.pdf?fbclid=IwAR3QQwu3daXKEHKc0nUqgA_Qyfs0Z25UgrdeDm3E2VxGLuVjNW3W7thpRfw) will we be getting CC Inceptors after all?  :teehee:

Daydreaming: Not entirely sure about the "up to a maximum of 3" rule, but would dual-chainsword build would let them dish out like 37 attack on the charge (43 in Assault doctrine) for a 6-man squad if I count that right?

Given gravis armour seems to be pointing at surviving in the thickest fighting/dealing with the most dangerous enemies I'd hope for an elite killer style unit, perhaps flamestorm gauntlet and chainsword or something, with an option to swap out sword for a storm shield?
