Ladies and Gentleman, Scummers of all ages, I would like to present the first B&C Sumpheap Scrap event. The task is simple, build and paint one (or more, if your up for it) piece of Necromunda scenery between March 1st and April 1st using any old bits of junk you have around the house. When the events ended all entries will be put up for public humiliation in a poll so one of us can take home the title of 'Best Shed Builder' and the rest of us can cry. That leaves you just under 2 weeks to source as much kitty litter and pringles tubes before we officially start.

Rules are simple, no GW scenery, this is a challenge, a Sumpheap Scrap challenge!! Anything else from plastic I girders to fully working PC fans is fair game though.

If anyone rises to the challenge, prepare your washing up liquid bottles and double sided sticky tape and get ready, oh and banners will be available nearer to the time.

Nice! I'll get the banners sorted this week. :biggrin.:

I'll also have to think about what to build and what materials I need for it... Can we use bits from MDF or other companies' terrain kits?

Yeah cool, a few bits here and there wont hurt, and other GW kits are fine, just no terrain (you can make an outside toilet from an old Chimera if you wish) . Tbh I am only putting on a no GW terrain restriction because I want to see how creative Frater can get when removed from the GW 'safe zone' when making scenery.

Just had a looksie on youtube and came across some interesting videos that I thought Id share to try and get people inspired to have a go.

I’m sure I’d like to participate, assuming I get settled in the new home in time :smile.:

Ahh yes, the dreaded house move. Im still in the process of moving all my stuff and I moved last september lol. If you do get the urge to join in you could just keep it simple and do a few bedrolls next to a burning oil barrel, Im not expecting people to build an entire hive city (not this time at least) and sometimes small bits of scenery are much better than massive complicated builds. :)

Either way, hope the move goes ok. :tu:

Thanks. I think I've decided to make the time for a one-day build, at any rate. I'm finding lots of crap as I'm sorting out all my stuff and packing, so I should have lots of material :)

Sounds fun, just finished off a bottle of shower gel and got some foam scraps at the moment.

Ooh, that's a point, got a bunch of finished Tassimo capsules, they might be of use, thanks for the tip ;)

Okay, I think I'm in.

The scenery I have in mind is actually for my modular wych cult arena. I have a selection of the basic tiles done to a playable state, but what I really want to build now are the signature pieces- the ones with built in traps and beast cages built into the columns. I'd also like to add some detail to the existing pieces- even if it's just paint.

I was also considering a full-on do-over of the original arena; the stack method that I used to create the original tiles is very inefficient and work intensive. If I build according to the new design aesthetic as I build the signature pieces, I can use that to get a sense of what it would take to do it all over.

Anyway, while it isn't specifically Necromunda scenery in the strict sense, it's certainly going to be suitable for Necromunda.

I'll post some pics of what I have in my PLOG tomorrow... hopefully before the end of the month I'll have some wyches to fight in this arena.

All good to me chief. :tu:

Ok, the move is (more or less) over. Still lots of settling in, painting (walls and furniture, not models, unfotunately), cleaning and so on to be done before I can get started. But I am happy to report that I’ve found lots of junk in the process, so I should be able to do something for this event later this month :)

Hey all, been a while since I hit up this board, but it's a fortuitous thing. I've been thinking about a bar for my Orlocks, and finally assembled this. I've got to add some more in the 'parking lot' area, and paint it, but I think it's good progress so far

I guess I'm going to start this weekend. I found lots of junk, and - among the junk - some different non-GW bits and bobs (specifically a misprinted tech-thingamajig and a slightly melted/miscast resin column). Am I correct in assuming that anything is fair game, as long as it's not GW or should I steer clear of using anything premade?

As long as its not GW scenery all is good.

Ok, maybe I'm not exactly getting started for real yet, but here's a bunch of junk I've amassed that I'll be using:

Sumpheap Scrap: The Beginning...

I'm not sure I'll actually be using the Pringles can, but it's just such a classic that it felt like a shame not to include it :D

Literally just made my first cut into cardboard... Lets see how fast I can make a night/stripclub with flashing lights and working fan ventilation.

Current mood musical inspiration...
