Convent Prioris ORDER HISTORY...... believed to have been founded from an isolated mission of the Order of the Ebon Chalice, the Order of the Verdant Flame first distinguished itself during the scourging of Karolus Minoris by repelling an orc invasion with the joint efforts of 3 Minor Orders Millitant. They have been invloved in bitter struggels with the orcs ever since, as well as being involved in several punitive expeditions, when charges of heresy were leveled against the Space Wolves Chapter. Contact with the Order has been sparse since then, apart from a few reported clashes with Chaos forces during the 13th Black Crusade, possibly due to warp storm activities. Recently regular contact with the Convent has been re-established and the latest reports indicate that the Order has grown considerably. Convent Sanctorum The Sister-Scribes of the Order Dialogus have recorded that at the moment Saint Katherine was martyred at the hands of the Witch-cult of Mnestteus, the Canoness of one of the smaller shrines of the Order of the Fiery Heart collapsed whilst conducting the Emperor's mass, convulsing spasmodically, alternating between almost inaudible whispers and howls of purest agony as vision after vision assailed her mind. Despite the best efforts of the Sisters Hospitaller she remained in this state for more than a day, until the fit subsided as quickly as it had begun. The young Canoness, her voice hoarse, tears streaming down her face, told her sisters of the loss of Katherine. Into the stunned silence she spoke again, her voice gaining strength with each word, determination stamping itself on her features as she claimed that St. Katherine had been cast into the realms of Chaos by the foul sorcery of the coven, recalling for her sisters the heartbreaking sight of Katherine imploring her to help, reaching out to her despairingly as she faded into a churning red mist. Given the nature of her claims the Inquisition in the form of the Ordo Hereticus quickly began an investigation. The Canoness, Imelda by name, was taken to the palace of the Ordo Hereticus on Ophelia, there to be held in the chambers of Truth and Penitence. Although such visions were far from unheard of, no Inquisitor could afford to ignore them, given the possibility that the mind of the Canoness had been touched by Daemonic entities in the service of Chaos or corrupted by rogue psykers in the service of those very same entities. Due to the vagaries of warp-travel and astropathic communication the Convent Sanctorum remained ignorant of St Katherine's fate for more than three months and with each passing day the pressure to try Imelda as a heretic grew, held back only by the clandestine efforts of a number of Proto-Thorian Inquisitors, many of whom believed that Imelda's visions might in fact, be true. When the fateful message bearing news of St Katherine's apparent martyrdom arrived the fight to save Imelda from an ignoble death as a witch ended. Instead the Ordo Hereticus was riven with factional in-fighting over who was most suitable to interrogate the young Canoness. In the end, the Proto-Thorian Inquisitors who had protected Imelda since her incarceration earned the right to question Imelda about the nature of her visions, partly due to their belief in her from the first day and partly through the careful manipulation of political power and the exchange of favours. After weeks of interrogation in the depths of the Inquisition's Chambers, a time during which Interrogators applied their full range of information retrieval techniques upon Imelda, from the electro-lash of Excruciators to the fiercest of psychic scourgings; the Inquisitors were at last convinced of the veracity of the young Canonesses visions. Upon their authority and with their blessing Imelda was released and returned to her former post. Swayed by the strength of the young Sister's faith the Proto-Thorian Inquisitors quietly supported her in her struggles against the Conclave of Ophelia as she fought vehemently against the renaming of her order. Time and time again Imelda stood before the assembled Conclave preaching that Katherine was not dead, that her very soul was imperiled and that the founder of her Order was desperately in need of aid. But each time her impassioned pleas failed to move them. It was said that Imelda wept openly before the sisterhood as the Conclave handed down their unanimous verdict on the fate of St. Katherine, declaring the heroine martyred on Mnestteus, and the Order to be renamed in her honour after a period of mourning had been observed. At the conclusion of the Conclave Imelda was surprised to find that despite the decision against her, she had swayed a number of Sisters to her cause. Chief among them were the Sisters of her shrine who had witnessed the vision as it fell upon her, but in addition to these holy warriors, scores more had seen the fires of belief burning in the Canoness' eyes during her impassioned speeches to the Conclave and wished to join her in delivering succor to the lost Bride of the Emperor. With their support Imelda petitioned Alicia Dominica, Abbess of the Adepta Sororitas, for permission to seek Katherine. Dominica, who had regarded Katherine as both a sister in arms and a loyal friend for many centuries was moved by their earnest petition and spent some time in consideration of their request. On the final day of mourning for her lost sister Dominica summoned Imelda to her chambers and gave her the answer she had waited so apprehensively for. Dominica told Imelda and her followers that they were to keep alive the Order of the Fiery Heart in honour of Katherine, they would be limited to the same resources as an Order Minoris, their abbey would be the shrine in which Imelda had had her visions, and lastly their recruits could only come from other sisters voluntarily transferring from existing orders. ORDER NAME -- Ordo Alatus Caminus (Order of the Winged Fire) ORDER FOUNDING -- 750.M41 ORDER MASTER -- Canoness Superior Gracia Honoria ORDER CONVENT -- Convent Sanctorum ORDER HISTORY -- Five years after the Battle of Macragge, a large number of Sisters of the Order of the Valorous Heart moved from the Cardinal world of San Leor to Devlan (the site of first contact with the Tau), and founded the Order of the Winged Fire for the purpose of maintaining watch over the Tau and checking their expansion in critical areas. A few decades before Abaddon's thirteenth Black Crusade, (Approx. 975.M41) a large Chaos force worshipping Khorne appeared in the region wreaking havoc on Imperial and Tau worlds alike. For this reason forces of the Order have sometimes been seen fighting alongside the Tau against the Khorne Marines. The Order's immediate superiors on San Leor have sanctioned this occasional alliance, as Chaos is the foe of all. Due to the vast distance between Devlan and the Eye of Terror, the Order was unable to be at the Cadian Gate alongside the many Orders who defended it. When word of the fall of the Gate reached Devlan, the Order was filled with grief at the loss and frustration at their inability to help. During the early part of M41 a warband of World Eaters following Gorlock the Acrimonious descended on the world. Though they were severely outnumbered and underequipped the Sisters fought to the last inspiring the people to rise up in the millions and, though outclassed they rallied around the torn tabards of the sisters which were stained with their own blood. Following these standards dyed with the blood of heroes the populace managed a great resistance against the Chaos Space Marines. An Order Minora was created to honor those Sisters. Order of the Light (The Children of the Light) ORDER FOUNDING... 398.M40 ORDER MASTER... Lord Captain Commander Pedron Naill ORDER CONVENT... Convent Sanctorum ORDER HISTORY... During a rebellion on a neighboring sector in 390.M40 the Order of the Sacred Rose set up a command center on the planet Karaethon. The rebellion suddenly was found to be out of control and all Sisters on the Heretic planet were killed. Out of forces and with the knowledge that the doom of a loyalist planet was only days away the remaining Sisters in the Command center accepted help of the local Militia. The remnants of the Order were surprised at the willingness of the Citizens and there will to serve the Emperor. When they maid there planet fall only 2 days after the organizing of the troops, they began the purging of the Heretic forces. Within less then 3 days the Heretic forces were shattered and the planetary PDF took command of cleaning up the last pockets of resistance. The Adepta Sororitas built a Cloister and gave the planet 100 Celestain, 10 Palatine's, and 1 Canoness along with 400 copies of the teachings of the Ecclesiarchy for the training and educating the newly founded Order. ORDER FOUNDING: 0425189.M41 ORDER MASTER: Canoness Eliza Mathory ORDER FORTRESS MONASTERY: Bastion of St Lucia ORDER HISTORY: After the order of the Valerous heart had cleansed the Hive Tumulus on Farglum the Inquisitor Scallen found a plaque with ancient texts that said that when St:Lucia died she weeped 7 bloody tears that all transformed to crystal when they toched the ground. So holy was they that no heritic could touch them without being destroyed. As the ruinos powers saw the might in this crystal they shattered them around the galaxy. The order of the Falling Tears was started by those sisters from the order of the Valerous Heart that felt that it where there new mission in life to find this crystal and secure them for the Emperor and his forces. The order of the Falling Tears has become very popular and many new recruits have join the order making them grow for every year. They are searching all over the galaxy about this 7 crystals of tears and every rumor is geting investigated. The Order have the monastary on the world of Farglum where they also can keep a eye open for more uprising. So fare none have happend. The Order are ready to help outer Imperial armies but there main mission is always about the crystal. Already in Vandire's service the warrior women have seperated themselves into different divisions, each of them specialized in one distinctive task. One of these divisions was responsible for eliminating Lord Vandire's political enemies and enforcing his demands - meaning, to kill or instill fear into the hearts of every individual or smaller group Vandire believed was against his rule as well as securing his orders were carried out properly. These Brides excelled in eliminating high ranking officials as well as rounding up whole circles of believed conspirators - be them guilty or not. They have "purified" all targets Vandire desired, ranging from harmless Imperial sub-cults to even Cardinals of the Ecclesiarchy. During these times, their division was known as the Sisterhood of the Dark Handed Maiden, and their emblem consisted of two kneeling virgins, holding up longswords in front of a standing Emperor. When Vandire's treason was uncovered, almost three quarters of this division's warriors have committed suicide*, unwilling to live any further in the guilt they have loaded on their own shoulders by following the High Lord's orders. [interlude - Historical Review] *= Not all of these Brides have judged themselves with the sword. In fact, most of these warriors left their fellow Sisters and joined other forces of the Imperium in order to seek death in battle. Many of these crusaders have died in almost lunatic but at least often quite effective "kamikaze"-attacks, and are amongst those who have instilled great respect towards the Sororitas within the ranks of the Imperial Guard and other armed defenders of the Imperium. The faith and devotion these sisters have proved on their crusades to deliverance would later be one amongst the many reasons for the pact between the Adepta Sororitas and the Inquisition. [/interlude] The few surviving Brides, some of them only still living because of the convincing pleas by imperial priests, have been integrated in the newly formed Ordo Militaris of the Adepta Sororitas. Although their traditions as well as the shameful memory of the misdirected activities these Sisters committed under Vandire's rule remained alive as a kind of sub-cult within the Sororitas, it should not be until M.40 that they have emerged under the banner of a separate ordo minoris titled the "Order of the Shield", reflecting their intention to serve as protectors of the God-Emperor as well as all he has built and stands for. The larger part of this new organization came from the Order of Our Martyred Lady, and red stripes on the white robes the "Shieldmaidens" wear stand for the relationship to their patron ordo majoris. Expanding the present monastery with fortifications and military equipment, a base of operations had been established on the remote shrine-world of Aureus Prime. Due to the mountain the monastery is built on, it is referred to as "Hijarna Claustrum", or more appropriate "Hijarna Fortress". Aside from the order's servants, support personell and a small priestly delegation of the Ecclesiarchy, the Prefecture of Caran D'or (Aureus' capital city) contains two full companies of Battle Sisters including armored vehicles and aerial transports. Each company is officially under command of a Paladiness, although the Canoness often personally leads her Sisters into battle if she is not otherwise occupied. The two Palatine-Procuratas also serve as advisors and "right hands" of the Canoness. Since the order is still relatively small, it is not often involved in the larger crusades proclaimed by the Ecclesiarch. However, the "Shieldmaidens" have played a supportive role in the occupation of Salem Proctor and the protection of Cadia. To even out their disadvantage resulting from small numbers, this order strongly relies on hard and sometimes cruel training to form their warriors into a fierce elite. This includes sending it's young aspirants ("Virgonis") into the dark and near-anarchic underhive of Caran D'or or even far-away macropol worlds to carry the flame of purification to cultists and gangs who try to hide from the divine Emperor's guiding light. Only those surviving 12 missions within the underhive will be allowed to bear the red-striped garment of a "Shieldmaiden", which is this order's term for a fully initiated Sister of Battle. Remarkable amongst the Sisters of this order is their aversion for bio-mechanical implants or deliberately kept wounds and scars. Regarding the ancient writings of the church the form of the human body is sacred, and the Shieldmaidens share an especially strict view of this term. In M39 the Ordo Hereticus deemed Celsus Prime to be a heretic infested world. Descending from their moon of Azrael, the Sisters of the Vengeful Heart purged Celsus Prime's Holy Sites of heresy and assisted the Ordo Hereticus in ridding the world of any traitorous taint. The Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Brookstein commended the Order and its Canoness on the superb actions of the Order.
