ORDER HISTORY: The Order of the Sabbat Martyr was formed from a small Commandery of sisters of the Order of Our Martyred Lady. Inspired by the martyrdom of a young shepherd girl, who was to be the re-incarnated Saint Sabbat but for the baleful treachery of Chaos, the sisters hurled themselves into battle with righteous zeal. When the Beati was reborn in another form, the sisters swore loyalty to her and dedicated their commandery to the Sabbat Martyr. Since then the order has grown to almost 1000 sisters, and is led by Canoness-Preceptor Josephine.

For those of you that don't get over to the Liber Astartes forum, I've been working on a searchable index of Adepta Sororitas orders, including DIYs. I'll be going through this discussion to see if any of the submissions need to be added, but it looks like many of those listed here don't have enough information. Yet. If any of these are yours and you have more stuff and would like to see your Adepta Sororitas order added to the index, you can see the index here (and there's a handy link to the submission requirements, which are actually pretty easy to meet).

 

And for those of you that use one of the official orders for your Adepta Sororitas army, we may have something coming down the pike soon. :confused:

ORDER HISTORY......Originally a small Convent of the Order of the Valorous Heart. They were placed on the Planet Byzantium, to teach the denizens the Imperial Creed and to watch the nearby planetary system for heresy. The convent was attacked by a force of off world cultists determined to raze Byzantium to ashes. For 20 days and nights, the sisters fought off the invaders, their faith driving them on despite the threat they faced. They were able to hold the heretics, but at a heavy cost. Nearly all of the Sisters were killed. In the aftermath of the final battle, the Canoness of the order of the Valorous Heart decided that the fallen sisters should be remembered for posterity. The survivors would raise a new subsidiary order under the command of the ranking Seraphim, known as Saffron Sera. Whilst having autonomy from it's original order, they would, in the main continue to honour the customs of the Order of the Valorous Heart..

The armour was repainted Purple to represent the sacrifice of those who fell in battle at Byzantium, with white robes to represent purity. The Fleur is marked in Black to honour it's "Parent" Order, that of The Valorous Spirit.

ORDER HISTORY...... The survivors of [] fled to the Geheim system, led by Saint Raul of Birmingham aboard a dilapidated Cobra-class destroyer named the Bless'd Castellan. Saint Raul's visions led them to land on the third moon of the fourth planet, Arcanis. Arcanis was a world much like Raul's home - primitive, dark and poor. It had once been a thriving agri-world that existed solely to support the Adeptus Mechanicus facility on its third moon, but with the mysterious deaths of the entire Techpriest congregation in 245.M41 the populace below had fallen into barbarism, and then feudalism. The sororitas moved into the old Mechancium facility, surrendering up their old identities and officially founding the Order of the Sacred Tome in honour of the diary Saint Raul recorded his prophesies in. The Saint led the order for twenty five years before the Emperor reclaimed him, leaving his most faithful student in charge. Under her guidance, the Sacred Tome began expanding, recruiting from the planet below and spreading the Imperial Creed across the lost Geheim system. The Order thrived until a lone vessel of Hive Fleet Colossus arrived in system in 754.M41. Despite the warnings that were received, the Sisters found themselves ill prepared to fight off the swarm. As the main part of the Order's fighting forces were dispatched to the surface of Arcanis itself to prevent the Tyranids from gaining a foothold, the remaining archivists and dialogous searched their records and those of the long-forgotten Adeptus Mechanicum for some clue as to how to defeat the Tyranids decisively.

A miracle proved to be the answer. Saint Raul returned to guide the Order in their time of need. Though the Tyranids dispatched a horrific hybrid life-form known as a Magos to eradicate the lunar fortress-convent before a solution could be uncovered, Raul led the Sisters that remained there to victory, engaging the Magos in single combat while Sister Indicia, the lead archivist, raced to reawaken the sleeping systems of the Bless'd Castellan that had been grounded since the Order's arrival. As Indicia's team fired one of the two cyclonic torpedoes that had slept, forgotten, in the Castellan's tubes for three centuries at the hive ship, Raul struck his foe down with an almighty blow that shook the foundations of the fortress-convent themselves. His hands crackling with the Emperor's power as frost rimed the walls, he drew forth a glowing orb of light from the Magos' ruined head, instructing the only survivor of his war-escort, sister-dominion Silenda to commit it to paper and seal it within a null vault she would find at the lowest level of the Mechanicum facility.

In the aftermath of the great battle, the Order numbered less than fifty surviving Sisters. The majority of their fighting forces, along with their entire command structure, had been destroyed. Raul secluded himself with the three most senior surviving Sisters - Indicia, Silenda, and Gizli, of the Dialogous, Militant and Pronatus respectively - and gave them the mission the Emperor had selected them for. He taught them of the Emperor's Great Work, a tome of knowledge that, if it had been completed, would restore the Imperium to glory and power. The Great Work held the secrets of the Astronomicon, of the elimination of witch-kind, and, most importantly, the restoration of the Golden Throne and the Emperor himself. It was the Emperor's will, Raul told them, that they find the scattered fragments of this work, for Chaos had scattered it, as it had scattered the Primarchs. The shards of the Great Work resided in the minds of witches and unholy shrines. He taught them the methods of extraction and sealing, that they could gather these fragments and return them to the Archive in the null vault. When the Great Work had been completed, he told them, the Emperor's light would shine upon humanity once more.

The Sisters accepted this charge - for what else can the Adepta Sororitas do when so commanded by the Emperor himself, speaking through the mouthpiece of a saint?

Within a decade, the Order was again strong enough that they could send emissaries into the stars to discover the locations of the fragments. These Seekers would hunt down the fragments of the Great Work, retrieving them and returning to Arcanis III when possible, summoning reinforcements where not. As the collection steadily grew, however, so did the whispers. It started out subtle, the gathered weight of knowledge teasing the archivists who cared for it. As the mission broached fifteen filled tomes of the Great Work, the voice began spreading to Sisters who merely contacted the archivists. Within a century, every Sister who spent time in the fortress-convent had been touched by the whispers, offering knowledge and asking nothing in return other than to be known. Their mission was Divine, but Canoness Sekretua decreed that the knowledge of the tomes was not for lesser mortals. Only the Saint's return would permit the opening of any of the tomes once they had been sealed. The dialogous order was reorganised, a subset known as the Archivists formed from those who showed the most resistance to the whispers. The Circle of Archivists numbers only ten women at any one time, but they are drawn from all branches of the Sacred Tome - Battle Sister, Dialogous, Pronatus and Hospitaller alike may be chosen so long as they are Pariah. Only the Archivists may handle the tomes once they have been returned to the null vault. Despite these precautions, each Sister of the Sacred Tome carries with them a touch of the Great Work, and it is not unheard of for a Seeker to succumb, to ask the Great Work for guidance, and for that guidance to be given. These fallen Seekers must be hunted down as a priority, for once a Sister has broken one rule - even one that brings them closer to the Emperor - what else may follow?

The Ark Angels were founded by order of Arch bishop Legius Pius of Terra. The Arch Bishop founded the order as the militant arm of a minor order dedicated to the repair and reconcecration of relics, based on Holy Terra.

 

Arch bishop Legius Pius was a far sighted man whos career began with glittering promise. Even as a young legate, many claimed they could see the glimse of the Highest offcie in him. Some even went so far as as to say he could have gone all the way to the talk of the High Lords of Terra.

 

In late M41 Arch Bishop Legius foresaw a time of trouble ahead for the Imperium. He began to preach of dark times comming, when the Imperium would not only need to preserve the things they held dear, but fight to protect them, and even fight to recover them when they were lost. Legius began to be outspoken and even obsessive on the topic. His vision of the Apocalypse was not widely accepted at the time, The 13th Black crusade was still centuries away, the Necrons had not yet awoken, and the 1st Tyrannic war was sill 100 years away.

 

His opportunity to do somthing about it came when the small and unremarked shrine world of Pechersk IV was attacked by Orks. Pechersk IV was the home and shrine world of a Pronatus order of sisters, the Order of the Eternal gate, guarded by temple guards of the Order of the Sacred Rose. When the Orks of Waaaarg GitBag, finally overran the Carmellite Monastery, in the Highlands of the third continent, the thousands of relics held there fell into the hand of the Xenos warlord. Warboss GitBag allowed his boys to profane the monestary and its relics in the most vile ways imaginable. The Loss to the Imperial Creed was incalculable.

 

In 740.M41 he won the support in the Holy Synod to found a new Millitant Order minoris, to be known as the Ordo Ark Angelis. Their charter would be not to protect shrines, but to roam the imperium, intervening where the temple guards had failed, and act to recover relics, holy artifacts and manuscripts from the hands of heretics.

 

A council was convened to oversee the founding of the new order, consisting of representatives of the Echlesiarchy, Navy, munitorium and Inquisition.

 

A young fiery Palatine was selected from the Order of the Argent Shroud, Aria Deus, to take the role of Canoness of the New Order. Canones was given free reign to recruit from the Orders Militant of the Convent Prioris. Her first choice was the survivors of the battle of the Carmelite Monestary. Many had to be recued from penitent crusades, or Repentia Squads. Many more came from the Order of the sacred Rose, also seeking redemption for the shame of their loss of such an important site. A small number came from volunteers from the Orders Pronatus with the Zeal and fire to crusade.

 

A Covenant was signed with Battlefleet Terra in return for certain secret concessions: to provide ships of the line to support and transport the Ark Angels in perpetua. This was key to the Orders ability to fulfil its wide ranging brief. The fleet would remain under the command of the Grand admiral, thus preserving the spirit of the decree passive.

 

The Ordos was to be equipt from the Forges of Jupiter. Better known as shipyards, The Magos of Jupiter jumped at the chance to expand their production lines with patterns not ususally produced there.

 

 

The Order was finally declared ready in 741.M41, and sent to the far flung region of space known as the Damolcese Gulf, to be ready to participate in the great crusade being prepared to Exterminate the Xenos empire of the Tau.

Habits are coloured Deep blue, representing the endless demesnes of the Holy Emperor seen in a Night Sky. These are often trimmed in silver or gold, with Representations of the Wings of the Imperial Eagle.

 

Most Equipment is of a Standard patterns for the Echeliarchy, with one exception. The Forges of Jupiter could not source the D'iaz pattern Jump packs, and were forced to use another less well, known pattern, where the thrust is given by grav vanes, which are highly reminicent of a set of wings.

The exact founding date of the Imperial cult known as the Order of the Hatchet is unknown. The Tortosa system was hidden by warp storms before the discovery of San Leor by Vandire. Tortosa was rediscovered at the dawning of the 41st millenia. The cult was officially reeducated and indoctrinated into the Adepta Sororitas, a process that ook generations. The order's first off world actions began during the Third War for Armageddon.

ORDER HISTORY......

The Tortosa system was a major hub of bolt gun and bolter munition productions. The factories on Tortosa III produced millions of billions of rounds of ammunition for the Imperium of Man.

 

After a heavy tithe of personel to the Imperial Guard early in Vandires, reign, the Tortosa sytem was cut off from the Imperium by a brutal warp storm. Sometime in the intervienining centuries, the worlds came to the attention of eldar raiders. The raiders took many of the able bodied, and destroyed most of the planets remaing PDF. The unnamed bishop (whose name has been striken from all Tortosan records) used the remaining PDF to defend the Ecclesiarchal holdings until Planetary Govenor siezed the remaining forces and weapons of the PDF to lead one glorious attack. The attack failed.

 

The nameless bishop, fearing for his own safety, made a deal with the aliens to pay a regular tribute to them if they in turn limited their "free range" hunting an left the church be. Petronilla I was not a priest, or soldier. She was a simple factory worker who, along with seven other women, recieved a vision from a "Saint Alicia". This was before Alicia Dominica or the Sisters of battle were known to the system, so the Ecclesiarchy has declaired Saint Alicia to be Alicia of Aragon, a minor patron. Under the command of Petronilla, they gathered other women an took up the holy bolters produce on Tortosa. With great faith and holy conviction, they used the weapons to seize the nameless bishop beofre his tribute to the aliens.

 

When the eldar arrived for their tribute, Petronilla, and six of her body guards waited with the nameless bishop in chains. Clad in ancient armor and armed with holy boltguns they sstood their ground as the eldar lord and his body guard arrpoached. Petronilla explained that this world and all of its inhabitants belong to the Holy emperor of Mankind, an nothing from the planet could be surendered to the aliens, ever. Amused, the eldar lord promised that if she surrendered the bishop, the eldar would never trouble the world again.

 

Petronilla repeated that even the nameless bishop was the Emperor, and shot the bisho dead. The eldar attacked the sisters, but Pertronilla had seized the bishop's holy rosarius and weapons off war. They held off the eldar long enough for dozens of women to sneak up with heavy bolters. The eldar forces were taken by surprise and their numbers devestated. The eldar lord survived unhurt to to his powerfield, but Petronilla confronted him. Shestated that, for his trangressions his head and arm belongerd to the emperor. still believing himself invulnerable, the eldar lord laughed, and was laughing still when Petronilla's axe went through the powerfield and severed the eldar lord's right arm. The head, she told him, would be claimed the next time any of her sisters saw him. With that, the eldar lord fled.

 

There have been other incursions by the eldar of different tribes or worlds, and they have all been met with the same holy hatred. The Valley of Tombs is littered with wreckage and bones of eldar invaders and the Emperor's Grove houses the millions of dead who stood against them.

 

When the Ecclesiarchy rediscovered Tortosa III Petronilla's cult had been in power for generations. Their doctrine was close enough to the Adepta Sororitas that endoctrinating them into the the greater order was a relatively painful process despite the new order clinging to outdated traditions.

 

ORDER COMBAT DOCTRINE...

The Order of the Hatchet has taken quickly to the Dominion, Retributor and Celestian doctrines and were quick to empraces the Emperor's holy transports, flamers and melta weapons. They still hold the boltgun as sacred. The disciplines of the Seraphim are still new to them, and few squads exist in the order. The vows of the repentia are still resisted by the order.

 

Due to the mistrust caused by the nameless bishop, and the priesthoods mistrust of the Order's rapid response to percieved betrayals, only the most faithful or foolish priests will join them. Even inquistors avoid using this particular order. The nature of the order has made them useful for the Battle Sister when they need to strike out against other imperial forces including the Repentance Sanction applied agains the Flesh Tearers second company after the order heard about their actions on Armegeddon.

ORDER HISTORY: Upon the authority of Cardinal Jaciurne, the Order of the Blood Stained Lily was created to guard the plant species Lilium Imperator. Scholars had reconstructed fragments of records suggesting that the planet Cliodhna was one of the last that the Holy Emperor of Mankind set foot upon. here accurate records falter however careful analysis of local legends came to the conclusion that on his brief respite in one of the captured mansions He did suffer the merest of scratches from the vicous thorns adorning the aformentioned lily, and from this scratch the smallest drop of blood did spill and such was its power that it has forever marked this plant. thus through this Blooded lily members of the imperial creed may seek closeness with his divine emperors presence.

 

In the year 756.M41 Cliodhna suffered the depradations of a splinter of Hive Fleet Behemoth which saw large scale bombardments rendering the once fertile planet to little more than an ashen wastland. After the bombardment an expidition to the former convent found one sapling of the blooded lily growing unscathed under the corpse of an unrecognizeble sister of the order. Since then the sisters of the Blood stained lily have kept a large contingent in the area and are carefully cultivating this sacred plant.

ORDER HISTORY: Following the martyrdom and elevation of sainthood of Saint Astrid following the Dark Eldar assault upon Laconia, the Order was formed in her honour.  Alongside their duties as the military arm of the Adeptus Ministorum, the Order are also the guardians of St Astrid's shrine upon Laconia.

ORDER HOMEWORLD: Aryus One - Calixis Sector, Malfian Subsector.

 

ORDER HISTORY: 

 

Records pertaining to the early history of the Order of the Grey Shroud are limited in nature due to the destruction of the Order's convent during the Aryus Truth Risings of 814.M41. What these limited records show is that the Grey Shroud was a particularly small grouping of Battle-Sisters which never numbered more than thirty during its entire history. The Order's primary objective was to both protect a site of local religious significance and to serve as protection for local Ecclesiarchy officials.

 

In 814.M41 Aryus One entered into a brief civil war which was characterised by the appearance of a Heretical prophet who styled himself as '"Truth". During the early days of the uprising the shrine of Our Lady of the Grey Shroud was besieged by rebel forces and beset upon by the foulest warp creatures. It was at this point that Inquisition forces arrived. The events immediately following the Inquisition's intervention are classified, with the Order of the Grey Shroud being officially added to the Roll of Martyrdom at the Convent Prioris on Holy Terra. This was despite rumours which suggested that there had been at least one Sororitas survivor of the Order's last stand.

 

The Order's name resurfaced a few years later under the stewardship of Canoness Salandra Reyes, who is noted to have not been a member of the original Order. Since its reformation, The Grey Shroud has quickly grown and expanded into a fully functioning and self-reliant Militant Order. They are known to work closely with the Inquisition in the Calixis Sector and remain based in their newly built and expensively funded convent on Aryus One. Canoness Reyes still leads the Order at the dawn of the new millenium.

ORDER HISTORY...... OMR is a very small order, consisting of between two and three hundred sisters at any time. It was founded in 423.M39 for the express purpose of garrisoning the shrine world of Numerica Secundus. In the same star system is Numerica Prime, which houses a schola progenium, is a recruiting world for the Dark Angels, and provides two mechanized regiments of exceptional quality to the Imperial Guard each generation. As such, many of the sisters of OMR never leave the star system of their birth, most of the order being filled with graduates of the schola on Numerica Prime and no more than a third of the combat power of the shrine world ever being made available for offensive operations.

ORDER STANDARD:

Armor and Livery: Battle sisters wear power armor painted in the color of tarnished steel under vestments of royal blue with silver accents (see Sister Guthrud, the bearer of the sacred banner, above). Occasionally, in a minor miracle, a sister's hair will turn overnight from its natural darkest brown to a golden blonde that would make a vidpic heroine envious. These sisters are then assigned to the seraphim, where they reverse their vestments, showing instead the white and gold interiors, and strip the paint from their armor and maintain a very highy level of shine on the bare metal:
