Pete Haines Iron Warrior Q&A

I have a question.

What about daemon engines? I know that the IW are somewhat "secular" for CSM, but since you can already give them MOCU, why not go all the way. It fits with the seige aspects as well.

Actually, my real question is, what can be done to drive the seige aspect of IW home to the player. The use of artillery and an extra HS slott was a step in the right direction, but it is not completely represented by that. Anyone can have a load of tanks.

And another question that popped in my head. Why has the IW boxset been changed to mail order only status, and why has the IW lord w/ servo arm been removed from the online store? I somehow doubt that they are making new models, since all of GW resources just finished with the tyranids (but then again, they did make a few new SM chaplain models?).

I hope some logical questions can be procured from my ramblings.

Finnaly!! Nows my chance, he he he

Q: Will fluff for all legions change the way they all fight, not just Iron Warriors?

I see it as fair considering that the DG, WE, TS and EC

all got amped up, (Not a word about being blessed by the Chaos Gods)

Sure thy are marked and all but the Undivided still have 10,000 years experiance to count for. We should all get a spec character and weapons. I wouldnt mind if it was a supplement. In fact I reccomend a Chaos Legions supplement akin to the Craftworld Eldar one.

Q: Oh yeah, with Iron Warrior fluff, it appears (now this is a good thing), that the Iron Warriors would be the last to fall of all Legions. I mean 7 of their Warriors alon could probably hold the Emperors Palace. Now what I'm going with this is overall, whats the future of our Mighty Legion? Will they storm Terra, or nearly bring the hated IF to their knee's. Perhaps crippling the phalanx. Or maybe best of all, and most insidious. They take Cadia and turn it into a Bulwark for Terror, rather then vice versa. Can ya give us a hint to what the future holds?

Well thats my two pence :D

Thanks for the chance Philbrad kudos to you

How about giving the I.W a automatic cover save to show there seige speciliest

Pleas Drop the zerker influence the iron warriors are tecno geeks with a huge chip on there shoulder not Blood fueld mad men.

how about a slave fodder entry like the A.L chaos cultist.

and maybe some way to call in a titan stirke.

I'll compile a list form the various lists/forums I've placed the thread on. A number of questions are replicated so I'll whittle the numbers into a usuable document and submit to Pete/Graham via email. As Pete is now on his hols it'll be next week before he can even look at them so I'm expecting the answers in approx two weeks. Probably less.

As to the WD article, see told you GW have taken up where legions centred their games and reflected this in their post EoT write up. IIRC WE and DG were creditted with victories in an around Cadia and the Kasr world. Much badgering of Pete and Andy C helped right the 'inconsistancy' and acknowledge the IW's contribution to the Cadian system siege.

Yep & the good thing was... it was sort & sweet about IW take over & making a fort in the name of the dark god... mean more drinking (LotR 2 extended, Bormier spech to his army)

So I look forward to see all the Q&A man really thankful for this as I am sure all the other memeber are to

Think I can answer (at least part) of this one. The IW boxed set ... All the Index Astartes sets were originally created to be limited run box sets avaialble through the stores. As the GW range expands store can only hold so much, hence some sets are withdrawn to MO. As most of the chapter/legion specific IA kits have a only a limited appeal to a section of gamers hence they are pulled off the shelves to allow sets with a more generic appeal and sell more units. Nice to see its still available as component parts at the IW set has to be one of the best sets in the IA range for conversion parts.

The IW commander - acutally never noticed he'd gone TBH. Not a very good mini IMHO, I had one bought as a birthday pressie a few years back and had to do some conversion work on him to get hm anything like, figure is far too flat and two dimensionally for my tastes.

The 'new' SM/BT figures aren't that new actually. A lot of figures have been done for differing chapters when the SM concepts were being thrashed out. Of course there will be new figures for each of the codices but a number of fighres have already been sculpted as a part of the project.

maybe this question should go 2 another topic but... im getting quite annoyed about the whole iron warriors line is going to become mailordered... they ever thinking of bringing it back 2 the shops?

today folk of GW Ayr told me that the warsmith cant be re-ordered by them and there not many left...

where can the n00b go to? :cry2:

edit: will the servo arm points costs ever go down? 30 is a bit much.

Gents/ladies/Warsmith/creatures of the Warp

I put out a mail a last week appealing for questions for an IW based Q&A I'm arranging with Pete Haines and Graham McNeill in the GW 40K studio.

This is just a mail to say I'm compiling questions from the replies I've had on variosu lists and forums.

If youwant to pose a questions get it posted quick as I'm starting to compile the list for submission to Pete early next week.

Question criteria are ...

Questions are specifically on Iron Warriors, be it their background, armylist, tactics or their future.

Questions on generic/cult specific Chaos forces, non Chaos forces or general 40K will not be submitted.

If you want to ask questions to Graham McNeill about the Storm of Iron novel, Warsmith Honsou or the follow up/tie in book Dead Sky, Black Sun then I'll field them as long as they bear relation to the general questioning criteria.

If you can post your questions on here or directly email them to me philbrad@blueyonder.co.uk I'll be closing submission at 12.00am GMT on Sunday 10th July.

Phil my finial qustion are on page 2 on the IW site.

Also I have PM you about the Bezerker. Just I would happly give up Raptor & Possessed squad just to gain 0-1 Bezerker. Just they are the best CC squad we did have.

So one of the main once are:

Will bezerker come back as I will be more than happy if they even took away raptor & possessed for the IW list just to gain 0-1 Bezerkers squad. As Bezerker give us that CC punch we really need, while other squads lack it.

Hope there will be some special uber traits that will aloow the IW to field ALL Plasma Guns and Lascannon weaponary - replacing bolter and such, then we can have a good old energy death. Expensive per model yes, but is something I would like to field for an cyborg army :tu:

Ok Serious talk now, since they are Robotic in nature, I hope each IW has some inbuild Bionics with them, that is they all have something like IG "Cyber-Enhancement" with a 6+ Invul. Save... now that sounds more logical in IW sense right?

1. I would very much like to know if there will ever be a model of Honsou released ^_^

2. ForgeWorld have released siege dreds for SM and as IW are siege specialists can we take them too?

3. Will the IW boxed set be sold in store again?

4. Will honsou or Uriel Ventris appear in any more books?

Thanks

Iron HAnds!!! O yeah, they are indeed cyborgs. But come on, Iron Warriors although are siege specialist, they are more or less look like some cybortic construct as mutated body parts are readily replaced by metallic parts.

Oh yes, Iron Hands sprue are an excellant for Iron Warrior army.\

Sorry as I decided to add something after understand more about IW. Since they are siege specialist, they tend to be tank lovers. So, if they can have access to "Reman Russ Battle Tanks", that will be cool. Imagine, a Reman Russ with BS4. ^_^ Hmmm, now if IW have access to other Imperial tanks, then we can have Chaos Armoured Company, kekeke. Think IW Baneblade Super Heavy Tank thundering across the battlefield with Chimeras ferrying IW, Woo-Hoo!!!

Maybe to balence things up, they can remove all daemonic upgrades to IW. I always think daemonical stuff aren't fluffy at all in an IW army anyway...

No... right Iron Warrior just don't like useing Daemon Troops other than that they use Daemonic segie stuff, if you read Storm of Iron. The just don't like/trust in the chaos god.

But still useing daemoinc stuff is IW fluff also as said it keep our tank alive. Daemoinc Possessed rules so much & save my tank many a time to gain object/table side.

If anythign we need to get rid of Raptor & Possessed squads & make Deflier 0-1 or 2. Get back the Bezerker squad that 0-1 again as they where the best CC troop we ever had.

Phil my qustion are finial on the IW site on page 2.. the only other one is that Bezerker qustion that I ask you by PM on the IW site.

if it they would create some kind of deamon engine/cannon it will probably be a souped up deamon cannon version from fantasy.

i wondered what them chirumechs in storm of iron are... they some sort of servitors or more like the rogue adepts of the machine god...or something else??

a few weeks ago i asked GW helpdesk if they are stopping the whole sale of IW all together but the guy that emailed me back said that IW is 1 of the most popular selling chaos armies and that they will never stop selling them thru mailorder.... who are we to believe???

cheers :cuss

maybe the IW can take some other "Daemonic" cannonballs rather the the Imperial standard Earthshaker cannon rounds

thats exactly what i was thinking.

just wish there would be some kind of weapons that can only be fielded by the specific chapter almost similar like the 13th company have their wulfen. with storm of iron i could almost imagen the battle field with having everything an IW could ever wish for... then you look at a WD battle report and are like... ehm...

More specific modeled models would be nice ;)

Fortunatly I already have some answers to the questions posted here (Thank You Games Day Baltimore  ) I got to ask both Pete Haines and Tony Cotrell (the head of Forgeworld) some questions about the Iron Warriors. First to answer the big question about the Half-Breed. Pete said that there is still one chaos champion they have to take care of (Lucius The Eternal) as he has no current model but is in the codex, befor they start work on any others. (My question was if there were going to be any new chaos characters that weren't already dedicated to a god, IW in particular.) He then answered that he'd love to do an IW character, particularly the one depicted in the popular IW novel. So basically thats a yes for Honsou, I wouldn't count on it any time soon however. I then asked Tony Cotrell (later that day) if forgeworld had any plans on releasing some new IW stuff. He couldnt really give me a yes or no answer, but he did say that Forgeworld would be making chaos demon engines (probably like the ones in SoI.) He also said that after the Taros Campaign book Forgeworld would start work on a siege book (Hence the new SM siege dreadnoughts.) So thats it, I'd expect to see new IW stuff from FW before GW as (rumor has it) GW will be doing Black Templars and then possibly Tau... again.

here i go

will we get a concise guide of the grand companies?

will we see the big man? (you know who i mean)

will the iron warriors combine further with the techno virus? (great idea)

and basically al the other questions that other 'real posters' (iron warrior players) have posted.

and add this last bit:

all hail phil and greaham

1- The first novel, and even the second novel (involving IW) to a large degree, indicate an almost flirtatious relationship with Khorne, is there any chance we'll see this reflected in the rules (again)? (last time it was Berzerkers).

2- Forrix is the man. It was left open to interpretation on his actual death. We know he has a hate on for the half-breed. Is there ANY chance we'll see him come back? Whether in fiction or gameplay? (I'd love to see him come back, I think I liked him better than Honsou).

1: I agree. I'd like to see that returned, even though I don't play IW. Keep the fluff and the rules near.

2: Heretic... And he did die... He was vapourized... Instant death, times many...

As for questions, ask them if there will be more plastics for the Chaos range. Perhaps a Lord/Sorcerer? Termies? Dreads? Raptors...?
