Emperor's Children Marine

Recommended Posts

This is the first of 48 models in my brand new EC army. I know the arms are off I'm painting all the guns at once.

What do you think of the color scheme for my first squad. All of the squads will have slightly different color schemes. For the next unit i was planning on switching the legs the grid was on.

Well w/out further ado here he is.

oh and by the way my goal is to have that EC army that when you look across the table at it you're like eehhh EC.

Hmm....

I like the scheme, sort of, and I like the grids. It's a bit pastelley, but neither the colours, the head, or the general look of the model (chainmail, colours, smbolism) make me think of EC unfortunately.

thanks for all the comments guys, the checkerboard is actually comes off alittle more blue than it really is, it actually the same color as the armor for the dark squares and the green is foul green + 2 parts livery green. i guess i should put up the havocs as soon as i get a chance to take some pics. they are done in the more traditional pink scheme.

oh and btw the way if it helps the pics are a bit dark the colors are about 25% brighter, i couldn't get them to come out right w/out them taking on a chalky look.

I really like the green and purple checks you've got going on. The scheme looks EC to me, I don't know what all the fuss is about. Thousand sons were red and now are blue and gold, and EC are purple and gold, I don't think they really have a codified post-heresy scheme. Pink and black doesn't look great together in my opinion, unless you are an excellent painter, and I think your alternative is very good. The painting is well done, very neat, and you have some nice NMM going there. The only thing I don't really like is the head, I think all those heads on that sprue are very cartoony to be honest.

Then again your style is less realistic and more on the cartoony/comic book side of things, so maybe the head isn't that bad.

Does that mean we get to see 48 painted models?

I don't know if simply switching the checks is an effective way of differentiating the squads, it seems like it would be easily overlooked. Maybe adding an extra marking somewhere could help. What are you doing with the shoulderpads?

@ strato- yep 48 models, eventually anyway. the shoulderpads are going to be the regular EC pads from gw, the other is the one attached to the sonic weapons. the whole army has sonic weapons except for the possessed and the unit ACs. the army is basically 24 noise marines, 6 havocs, 6 possessed, six deamonettes, four rhinos w/ warp amp, a non statured lord, and the forgeworld KoS. the havocs are done i'll try to get pics of them up later. yeah i know the head looks kinda funny, but thats one way i'm tying my units together. that unit has the chainmail fronts and the blind folded head on each squad member except the AC. i figured it'll probably be the best shooting unit in the whole army  .

Fantastic looking so far. This is perhaps the best emperors children i have ever seen. The colors are bright and crisp, the detail is not covered up by mass amounts of paint. The checkerboard design, what does the design mean?Is there something about that that the marines paint the checkerboards on their armor?Great job, will be keeping a close eye on this.

simple its so they can play checkers when they get bored stuck on one of those 50 hour watches :) :P but seriously i dunno its been done since rogue trader days, it for the most part always dresses up a model. for me its just one of a couple of squad markings

@zachos- yes the whole army will have sonic weapons except the ACs, and the possessed. i'm actually thinking of doing the diamond thing. the only thing thats holding me back is that diamonds are a #$%# to draw on the mini

@strato- i'll work on the closer pics for you
