Predator Destruktor

armored walker

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Just finished the first tank ( rhinos & razorbacks don't really count ;) ) for my DIY chapter, the Silvered Helms:

Big picture

The paintjob's fine by me, but I was a bit hasty with the converting ( again ), I should have spent more time to finish it off before painting.

I changed the front to better justify the AV and to make it look less like a rhino. I also added outer extra armor and took away the back door, since no-one was using it ;) .

Here's some more pics:

without the stormbolter

The inks and transfers do shine a bit in the pics, I'll use matte varnish later.

C&C wellcome!

I love the Predator ;)

An most excellent work!

You have subtle details here and there that improves the model quite much.

I would have stolen your ideas if it wasnt for that I use all my vehicles as RhinoRazorbackPredatorWhirlwinds

using magnets to pull it off.

As said before, excellent work ;)

mind if i ask what kind of components you used? (a detailed list is not entirely necessary) or is it forgeworld stuff?

That looks very main battle tank, i'm ashamed of mine now... so unworthy of armour 14 (im hoping to rectify but don't wana go overboard)

Thanks everybody!

The pose of the gunner looks to me like he's thinking.."Sod this! I'm going back indoors!"
Aww, I really was trying to get that "I want to shoot something and these doors don't open fast enough"- kinda pose... B)

Extra armor and front & back plates are plasticard, different thicknesses, as is the banner kinda thing on the left front armor.

The front "fender" and the drivers' windowframe came from a landspeeder that got stepped on.

The the hatches on the back armor plates are from a leman russ and the camo-roll on the back and the other hatches are from a 1/35 plastick tank kit.

Rivets I made from plastick rod.

Mostly everything was stuff I had in my bitz box allready.

can i ask how u paint your blue plz as i have just started painting thks ant

First, I prime with black spray. Then I go over the entire mini with a mix of Chaos black, black ink and lots of water, taking special care of all the nooks & crannies that will be black at the finish. The base is Enchanted Blue ( a very nice, vibrant blue IMO ), a couple of coats thinned down. Then I start to do highlights by adding a little Skull white into Ench. blue. I usually do two highlights for the basic troops, the Pred has three, the last one wery thin and allmost white ( and not too visible in the pics, I overexposed them and had to fiddle about with the contrast to get any highlights visible ).

Hope that helps!

now actually patched up, would best be done with green stuff, make the holes, now fill with green stuff, making sure that there's a raised area, and then manualy paint the GS not quite the same colour as the rest of the tank (shouldn't be too hard), also make sure that you use a knife to make the GS patches appear to be square before painting...

Transfers are from the SM transfer sheet, the rest are painted freehand.

Sure, here's a link:

My Marines

Check the sub-albums for more, if you have the time.

Some of the stuff is over a year old, and I've fixed some things since taking the pics( like the red skulls, not a too great idea ).
