FW dread

I just recieved my FW mark IV dread today. must say what a lovely sculpt it is.. anyway, just wondered if anyone is interested in some WIP pics as I go along and paint up this beautiful model?

 

And also if someone got any tips or ideas for me, when Im painting.. Its a BT venerable dread

to bad Im redoing it then.. Id like some ideas on how to make the black armor look quite old, and worn...

 

 

I tend to drybrush the edges with Boltgun metal (very lightly) make a bunche of dings, dents, and sractes with my hobby knife and other tools, then paint their interiors with boltgun metal, drybrush those with chaos balack again so the damaged doesn't stand out too much... then paint the entire thing back over with a VERY thin wash of black to make the b"bare metal" areas look like thy've been that way for a while.

 

Of course, I'm a relative noob... so there are probably better ways, but this one is fairly fast and works well for my prurposes. :D

2 more pics.. the main body is pretty much done, just some details left.. And then its just the arms and base.. after 7 constant hours on it.. Im quite tired atm.

Ok, The highlight look sharp on the photo but they'll probaly look good on the tabletop.

 

The second purging of lastrati huh? Don't know many who uses that crusade, most use the Terran or Armageddon crusade.
