Evolution of a champion.

Recommended Posts

often during games, if a particular model does well, ill often jokingly suggest to my opponent that he/she should be promoted. and if a particular model performs very poorly ill usually comment that he/she should be fired and replaced.

this is a case of promotion for one of my aspiring champions.

im not a bog fan of World Eaters (the whole blood rage thing gets a bit annoying IMHO), but with the LaTD rules, i could include a WE champion and have him lead my mutants without fear of him running off to be chewed to pieces by heavy weapons fire.

anyhow, over the years, he and his unit have performed admirably. and i have made alterations to him to best suit a champion of his stature.

when i first got him, he was your stock standard aspiring champion of Khorne:

U.G.L.Y

but hey, i had to make do with what they got right? a couple of games later, he soon stood out as the number one man in the army. so then he got his first promotion:

terrible pic, but you get the jist of it. soon after came tournament time, and once again, he proved his worth. space marines were little match against, what was literally a 30 wound champion with an axe of Khorne. yes, mutant casualties were incredibly high that day, but we got a good health plan and they werent to fussed by it.

so a week ago, after watching him kill a Hive tyrant (24 mutants sacrificed themselves in the process) i decided it was time to promote him, yet again:

but i feel that he cant be truly appreciated until you stand him next to a standard marine :)

keep this up, and he'll make demon prince in no time!

You should promote him with some nice Technicolor because that conversion looks awfully swell. Its also a nice idea that I've been meaning to employ but havent yet, so good job taking initiative also!

Actually, the Havoc champion is kinda weedy being all metal, you should stand him next to a normal plastic chaos marine...

The Berzerker looks nice tho.

Cheers

You're right about the standard champions (U.G.L.Y) but as you've discovered you don't have to be satisfied with 'good enough'! A paintjob would complete the model nicely I think :)

Interesting how he steps on a dead 'zerker... "Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows". Shouldn't it be a dead mutant though?

Wow, I thought this was gonna be a 'Bolt On pieces as you go along' job, but you've gone the whole way and created a new model each time, while maintaining the character of the original, Brilliant!

Cool conversion, though i kinda like the champion the way he is. Gonna make a squad of berzerkers for my iron warriors and include him in it. wheres the axe from, that looks pretty cool.

Bloodletters

Nice Berzerker Champion ;)

That is what all (chaos) marine players should be doing.

My librarian has has 4 incarnations.

1 as Ezekiel model.

2 was old terminator captain model with weapon swaps.

3, dont ask.

4. A simple change on plastic terminators. Best so far.

notice how deep in the ground the body is buried, he's been there for some time now. its my way of representing a character who has been or is still fighting in an extended campaign.

About time you made him a Lieutenant, right?

actually, his effectiveness would go down if i made him a liutenant. his main strength is that he is not an independant character, so he can still support attack and cant be attacked directly as long as i keep a screen of mutants around him.

I love it. I might do that type of thing wth my IW.

Where did you get the axe from the last promotion?

the double axe version?

bith axes are from two different khorn champions, onr had a plasma pistol and an axe on the right hand, the other had a bolt pistol and an axe on the left hand.
