How the heck did you get all those skulls, and wats the deal with the cross motif

As for the skulls, all I can say is that I once built a rather large Iron Warriors army, and thus had far more Chaos Vehicle Accessory sprues than I needed... so I robbed them silly of skulls, and put them all in one place. As for the cross, I've used contemporary imagery of death to make him look more sinister and Chap-like. I know it isn't really very 40K, but it looks bad and scary, and that's really what I aim for.

Speking of aiming for; my dude is completed. Enjoy.

nice work but arent mortifactors chaplains deep red? or at least they are in the ultramaines novel they appear in.

True, they are depicted as "the colour of dried blood". I decided to make them more conventional black and bone, though, simply beacuse I think it will fit my army better. Besides, my Cadians are already the colour of dried blood... :)

I am excessively jealous about that yellow!!

I take it its golden yellow built up with some bleached bone highlights? Or at least bleached bone mixed with some form of yellow.

Man.. now i have to reconsider my Lion Guard Termies after seeing that NICE yellow robe ;)

Thank you ^_^

You are actually quite far off about the yellow. From a Chaos Black prime, its built up on a Bestial Brown basecoat, followed by several layers of Vomit Brown, before repeating the procedure with Bubonic Brown. The highlights are indeed Bleached Bone, as you point out, and the recesses have a shine-through of Vomit Brown. No mixes whatsoever! :)

I noticed through that step (thank goodness there was no mixing involved) that no yellow was even mentioned. Is this to say the robes arent even yellow?

The robes are VERY impressive. Definitely something ill have to remember for making what looks like semi brown robes (i do the bestail -> bubonic -> bleached step though).

Seems vomit brown is an important color these days ^_^

Thanks again for the kind words, I appreciate it.

Bubonic Brown is in fact not really brown, its more like a matt, flat version of Golden Yellow. Its not as shiny, so to speak. I personally consider it to ba a yellow rather than brown colour, but Citadel seems to think otherwise. Also, remember that these colours are layered with VERY thin colour, almost 50/50 with paint and water on the larger areas, down to about 70/30 in the recesses. That makes it a whole lot crispier, which again raises the level of "life" in the colour in my eyes.

Heh, if i knew that i probably wouldnt be in the situation i am now, although i thought vomit brown would have been more closer to golden yellow than bubonic.

Nonetheless, your skills with the non-mixed paint have been an excellent learning session.

Would love to see more of your work ^_^

HAHAHA that is awesome! Great model dude, and I think it's great that somebody else uses the phrase "Memento Mori" in their SM army-- tho it's the battle cry in mine. Nice chaplain conversion, the skulls are from the chaos vehicle accessory sprues right???
