Painting Blue Armour.

While this tutorial is mainly about painting blue on space marines, the principles involved could be applied to anything you want blue. All Colours are from the Citadel Colour Range.

After preparing your model for painting the first thing you have to do is decide on how you want your models to look, dark and gothic, or lighter and fairly cheerful.

The following process has been tested on a black undercoat, but not white.

After priming your model(s) paint all the areas with Ultramarines Blue.

When dry, use a wash of 70:30 water to Midnight Blue, making sure the wash goes into all nooks and crannies.

the next stage is to use a 50:50 Ultramarines Blue and Midnight Blue mix. Apply to model as you would the basecoat, making sure you leave the recesses free from this coat.

Now, start adding Bleached Bone to the mix, starting so it is slightly brighter than the basecoat but not too

stark. I only used 2 stages for this, but keep going until you are happy.

Stage 2

When you are happy with your Bleached Bone highlights, add a small amount of Skull White, and gently run the flat side of your brush over the highest edges of your model.

I hope you find this useful, I've managed some stunning blues with this technique.
