997/M41 - Duel at Ichar IV. Marneus Calgar leads a daring Drop Pod assault that cut the head off of the Tyranid's synaptic control, a battle that ended with the Chapter Master slaying the Swarmlord in single combat. However, the Space Marines' victory comes too late to save the planet itself, for the Tyranids have already reduced it to a smoking charnel house of death and destruction. (US WD 386, 2012, p.36)

I did not known that! I'm liking the fact Calgar avenged himself by squashing the Swarmlord like the over sized newt he is!

020974 M41 Captain Sicarius perfect battle record is stained with defeat upon Damnos. He loses all humor from his gruff persona, and his violent displays of courage become reckless to the point of unnecessarily endangering the lives of the men under his command. (Warzone: Damnos, 2013, p.16)

020999 M41 Joined by the Deathwatch and Imperial Guard, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th Companies descend upon Damnos, led by Marneus Calgar. Approaching the planet behind shunted asteroids, hundreds of deathwind pods were dropped first as a decoy. The real pods were launched later from the Hera's Fist, Blade of Judgement, Talassar's Tempest and Lion of Calth. (Warzone: Damnos, 2013, p.16)

The C'tan god Yggra'nya, Molder of Worlds, was destroyed when Sicarius hurled a Vortex Grenade at his face. This led to the collapse of the Necron power, with the Ultramarines gaining final victory over the planet. (Warzone: Damnos, 2013, p.24)

822/M41 The Ironblood Campaign. Warpsmith Grathax descends upon the world of Ironblood with an army of Daemon Engines. Over a hundred Ultramarines battle tanks led by Chronus and several Imperial Guard tank regiments fight for three days, completely destroying the Chaos army. The tank graveyard is so vast it can be seen from orbit. (Codex: Space Marines, 2013, p.28)

848/M41 The Hallowed Stars Scouring. Chief Librarian Tigurius' mysterious insights lead to the Hallowed Stars' scouring. (Codex: Space Marines, 2013, p.28)

949/M41 The Arthos Insurrection. Deploying by drop pod and stormraven, the Ultramarines end the forty-year rebellion on Athros IV with a single bloody day of fighting. (Codex: Space Marines, 2013, p.29)

967/M41 Dark Rain at Vallenin. The 3rd company are dispatched to free the enslaved population of the agri-world of Vallenin from the Kabal of Lethal Guile. They are sorely pressed by their skimmers until the Hunters deploy to reap a great tally. (Codex: Space Marines, 2013, p.29)

870999/M41 In an exemplary display of his abilities, Scout Sergeant Telion single-handedly changes the balance of the war on Quintarn.

747/M41 A STRIKE FORCE FORMED.  Following the Conclave of Hera and deeds on Espandor, Marneus Calgar sanctions the Tyrannic War Veterans. They commence immediate training under the guidance of Chaplain Cassius.

867/M41 BRETTIKS’S FURNACE. On the manufactorum-choked plains of Brettik V, a world that generates promethium for the sector’s ships, the Tyrannic War Veterans set a trap for the swarm of Hive Fleet Kraken. After the Tyranids make planetfall, the veterans funnel the bioforms through the labyrinthine capital, whose civilian populace has evacuated. Cassius’ squad continually baits the swarm until millions of creatures are concentrated within the city’s streets. Having previously disabled the city’s manufactorums, a squad led by Sergeant Trajus detonates the platforms of several drilling rigs and redirects their promethium flows to flood the streets. The veterans ignite the rampant creatures with grenade explosions. Though the city becomes inhabitable, the Tyranids advance no further in the star system.

939/M41 LEVIATHAN MAIMED. On board the Vengeance of Macragge, Chaplain Cassius tracks down a tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan passing close to an asteroid belt to enter the star system of Jomm. The Ultramarines Strike Cruiser partners with Battle Barges from the Howling Griffons and Aurora Chapter, and destroys the nearby moon of Vendorak. The resulting explosion sends a shock wave through the asteroid field and its debris crashes down onto the planet. The hive fleet is severely depleted by the attack and is consequently unable to reach the planets of Jomm.

991/M41 CALGAR’S ORDERS. A Genestealer infestation rises on Ichar IV. The Ultramarines, led by Marneus Calgar, engage in a bitter conflict with Hive Fleet Kraken. The Tyrannic War Veterans join the rebuilt – but under strength – 1st Company. Together they help drive the Swarmlord directly into the path of Marneus Calgar, in order for their Chapter Master to exact vengeance for Macragge. Calgar engages in combat with the Swarmlord and eventually slaughters it. The Ultramarines proceed to annihilate every last Genestealer, though they are too late to save the planet.

999/M41 THE DEFENCE OF SAINT TYLUS. The Tyrannic War Veterans reinforce the Ultramarines 3rd Company on the Shrine World of Saint Tylus in the face of an assault from Hive Fleet Leviathan. Cassius takes grim delight in utilising the aerial superiority of the agile Stormtalons against the swarm. As Gargoyles, winged Hive Tyrants, Sky-Slasher Swarms, Harpies and Hive Crones assault the enormous walls outside the central Hab Cathedral, Stormtalons outflank the masses. The aircraft pummel the hordes with bolter fire and explode the largest beasts with Skyhammer missiles. As Leviathan’s control quickly wanes, the veterans roll out through the streets in Land Raiders and obliterate the remaining Tyranids. One of the swiftest victories known against a Hive Fleet assault, success is attributed to Cassius’ tactics.

Just a little update: Forgeworld has given a timeline for the HH, so this is relevant:

007/M31 The Battle of Armatura

007/M31 - 009/M31 The Shadow Crusade.

008/M31 - 014/M31 The underground war on Calth.

009/M31 Imperium Secundus declared.

After 006.M42 The Apocalyptic Battle for the Planetary Capital 'Vilius Coronis'. The Ultramarines are charged with stopping a Chaos incursion lead by Abaddon, and retaking the capital. They fight alongside Cadians, Titans, The Imperial Navy and the Dark Angels. While the Imperials are successful in defeating the Chaos Forces, Cassius is struck down by Abaddon (though it is uncertain if he is killed); Tigerius is dragged into the Warp, alongside a Greater Daemon, before disappearing; and Abaddon escapes. (UK WD 334, 2008, p.95, we clearly see that Agemman was one of the 'Masters of the Chapter' involved in this battle. His wounds places this battle after Medusa V; meaning after 006.M42.)

*spits drink all over monitor*

What? When? How? Was this when they were launching Apocalypse and it was one of the Campaigns they showed off?

Those dates are completely off. Where is that from? The 7th Edition Rulebook (or Background book) still adheres to the original dates (Kraken appears in 993.M41, Leviathan in 997.M41). The dates given in the 6th Edition Codex Tyranids are a bit dodgy, but at least are somewhere in the ballpark.

And I just noticed that the post was from two years ago...

It is contradicted by the Codex Tyranids released immediately prior to it and the 7th Edition core rule/background book released a short while after it, both of which adhere (more or less) to the dates from 2nd and 3rd Edition. I had heard strange tales of newly invented Dark Angels 2nd Founding Chapters from the Cypher dataslate. I do get the distinct impression that the dataslates are not quite up to any canonical standards.

You mean the same Codex Tyranids that says Prandium was destroyed by Behemoth in 752, and that the BfM occurred in 757? If anything, the Tyranids codex is off and should be discredited entirely (along with the Dataslate, eh).

Nothing is discounted, everything is recorded. The point of the timeline is to compile all known references to the Ultramarines' actions, regardless of perceived correctness. This way we can, as in this case, find the inconsistencies. Thanks for pointing it out so I can add new links, though!

Yes, as I said, the dates form the current Codex Tyranids are dodgy as well, but at least they seem to be based on the appearance of the fleets in 745, 993 and 997, just apparently with longer drawn out campaigns as a result, and no conclusion to Behemoth in 745 or to Ichar IV in 993, etc.

But if the purpose is to collect all references, and since sources are listed, I withdraw my objections.

6 months after Mkar's invasion, things cleared up (The Chapter’s Due, 2010, p316)

One year after the invasion began (roughly), Calgar and Tigurius discussed the future. (Marneus Calgar, Lord of Ultramar)

An uncertain amount of time passed after the invasion; at least one year, likely more (Gathering Storm III, 2017)

Roboute Guilliman is reborn in another age of war. (Gathering Storm III, 2017, p28)

The purge of Macragge took just over a month to complete. (Gathering Storm III, 2017, p41)

Celestinian Crusade begins (Gathering Storm III, 2017,  p42)

After unknown weeks of rearmament, then the Macragge system was liberated through weeks of fighting (Gathering Storm III, 2017, p44)

7 months into the liberation of Ultramar, disease spreads (Gathering Storm III, 2017, p46)

Unknown weeks pass as Guilliman travels to different war zones (Gathering Storm III,2017,  p46)

Celestinian Crusade ends when Guilliman realizes he needs to address the galaxy (Gathering Storm III, 2017, p47)

Terran Crusade begins (Gathering Storm III, 2017, p47)

The Terran Crusade lasts an unknown amount of time. Typically, a journey of that distance should last about one year; however, they were beset by war and various warp storms. They stuck to small hops through the warp due to safety concerns, lengthening the travel time. As well, they fought through ambushes and attacked planets along the way to gather more supplies. They fought for so long that supplies were running low, meaning they were in space for a very, very long time. Since they were stuck in the Maelstrom during this time, this makes sense. In reality, they could have only been gone for minutes, while years could have passed inside the warp storm, but since no dates are ever listed, we’ll never know. The Macragge’s Honour was captured by the Red Corsairs during this time; all other ships are also presumed lost. The survivors were captured by the Red Corsairs and imprisoned aboard a Blackstone Fortress. They were rescued by Cypher and the Harlequins. They travel through the webway to Luna, where they turn and fight Magnus and the Thousand Suns. The traitor primarch is cast back into the warp and his forces defeated. Once he reached home, the Terran Crusade was complete. This swift path across the galaxy could have lasted 1-2 years (though the survivors might have actually aged much more, due to warp timelessness).

Roboute Guilliman then goes to meet the Emperor personally. After this, he retakes his seat on the High Council of Terra, replacing several members as well. He directs a new age of war in the Imperium, and at some point begins the Indomitus Crusade. (Gathering Storm III, 2017, pp48-92)

The Battle for the Pit of Raukos. 112 years after setting out on the Indomitus Crusade, Guilliman leads his forces to the Pit of Raukos (Dark Imperium, 2017, p45)

Guilliman calculates the current era as somewhere between early M41 and M42. (Dark Imperium, 2017, p110)

Guilliman completes revisions of the Codex Astartes and begins penning the Codex Imperialis, wherein he sets down the principles of good governance. (Dark Imperium, 2017, p119)

Guilliman returns to Ultramar, and reinstates the position of the Tetrarchs, sector commanders of the Five Hundred Worlds of Ultramar. From the following worlds the commanders rule:

-          Konor: Severus Agemman, First Captain of the Ultramarines and Regent of Ultramar

-          Andermung: Second Captain Portan of the Genesis Chapter

-          Protos: Captain Balthus of the Doom Eagles

-          Vespastor: Captain Decimus Felix, Primaris Ultramarine

-          Macragge: Lord Defender Marneus Calgar of Greater Ultramar (Dark Imperium, 2017, p270)

Kugath’s Cavalcade, seven enormous plague arks made from the dead flesh of void whales, land upon Iax and disgorge thousands of plague daemons. (Dark Imperium, 2017, p.203)

Yes, it is canon. He's still alive and kicking in M42, and while Guilliman has read about his...issues...he acknowledges the [better written, better represented] soldier he is.

Taken from Dark Imperium Novel post

-Ventris is still alive and Captain of the 4th, and Guilliman likes him(reminds him of Thiel); this means all of the McNeill series is canonized. However, Haley writes him so much more as an Ultramarine than McNeil ever did, which makes me like him more.

The mention of Ventris being banished is from 2004, so new DI novel overwrites it.

I'm very tempted to read the novel, but I want to wait for Jan 2018 for my physical copy.
