Since there's been a surge of army pics lately I guess DA players long deserve a thread to expose their work, so here it is...

 

Some rules to this thread:

 

- Use a reasonable amount of pictures. If you have lots of pics of your army and you want to expose them all, put those you find the best and leave a link to the rest.

 

- No WIP pics.

 

- Ensure that the pictures aren't too dark/blurry.

 

- Dark Angels, Deathwing, Ravenwing and Unforgiven sucessor armies allowed only.

 

- <blank space for further rulings needed>

[Kairo]

Here are a couple of pictures of my converted Dark Angel Captain Kairo. He's the character in Immortal Enemies which was discussed here on Bolter & Chainsword in this thread.

 

I used the following pieces for this conversion:

 

- Emperor's Champion model base

- Plastic jump pack

- Ezekiel's force sword (More for looks than anything else. It's a power sword for Kairo.)

- Baharroth's wings and Emperor's Champion sword (I wanted Kairo to have a unique quality in that he'd appear to be a 3-D visage of the Dark Angel symbol itself from behind.)

- Dark Angel shoulder pad. (This was one of the hardest parts of the conversion. I had to hacksaw the Black Templar pad off so I could replace it with the Dark Angel pad.)

- Green Stuff cape (This was fairly easy. Just molded the green stuff and glued it to the underside of the jump pack.)

- Lion Helm wings (Last but not least, I wanted the wings from the Lion Helm to place on the Emperor's Champion helm.)

Well. . . it just so happens I keep a log of how I did each project, in case I ever have to go back and add some more. So this is probably more detail than you ever wanted. . . but here goes!!

 

Entire model:

prime white

spray with GW bleached bone undercoat.

wash with mixture of 20/10/10/60 of GW brown ink, GW chestnut ink, Future floor wax and water

drybrush with GW bleached bone (61-17) THREE TIMES. (really, it's important)

drybrush entire model with GW Skull white (61-??) TWICE.

 

Chest Eagle, Circle of crux term, weapon housing, leaves:

basecoat with Vallejo olive green (26)

hilight with Vallejo dark green (28)

hilight with Vallejo goblin green (30)

 

Crux Terminatus and other insignia:

basecoat with Vallejo brassy brass (58)

hilight with Vallejo bright bronze (57)

 

Gems, purity seals, DW symbol, some sensor lights:

basecoat with Vallejo gory Red (11)

wash DW symbol with 50/50 GW black ink and water

hilight with Vallejo bloody red (10)

 

Eyes, remaining sensor lights:

basecoat Vallejo night blue (19)

hilight with Vallejo magic blue (19)

 

Bolter muzzle, sight, back of housing, hoses:

basecoat with Vallejo gunmetal metal (54)

hilight with Vallejo silver (51)

 

Text on armor and purity seals with 50/50 mixture black paint and black ink

 

Serve hot and enjoy!

second hq choice.. interrogator chaplain cassiel. had some shots of him in the wip section for a while, but hes pretty much done now.. though i may strip and repaint the storm bolter.. not happy with it.

Very nice...I went the other way for my second HQ choice. Meet Casius...I figured that terminators wouldn't need the services of a close combat monster like a chaplain, but the hellfire template and occasional use of a force weapon would come in handy, not to mention the psychic hood, which has had me rolling more dice than use of his own psychic powers has...stoopid eldrad with his three powers per turn! In any case, I figure chaplains do their work on the fallen inside the rock, librarians help identify them in order to....facilitate getting them to the rock in the first place:

A 'squad' of Angels of Vengeance Terminators.

They're actually portions of what will be two different squads. Originally they were all members of a 7 man squad, but since we no longer have that option, they'll be split between a couple 5 man squads. I was going to cast embossed Deathwing logos for the shoulders, but instead printed these custom made decals instead so I could enter them into a painting competition. (They took 1st in Squad/Group.) I am still considering using the embossed pads in the future.

Hi, here is my GM Azrael. Its OK to tabletop standard but I want to do some more work on highlighting etc. before I'm fully happy. My chapter scheme includes a lot of purple robes alongside the normal DA colours to try and impart a 'regal' look to my character models, but my rank and file troopers are going to be more traditional, possibly just a shoulder pad trim or knee pad emblem. Toying with ideas at the moment, so i'd appreciate any input!
