  1. I like the idea of melta Command Squads dropped close by a Valkyrie, but if you put two (or three) of those in a Valkyrie, it'll be a prime target to shoot down in the 1st turn. On the other hand if you don't, you kind of want to go Gorgonnes to be able to use the strat on at least one group, but then you loose out on a lot of the Lions stuff. And since you have to have one Tempestor per Command Squad running two battallions is getting unwieldy. Additionally if you want to run Lions, and use Valkyries to drop melta Command squads in, and you want to spread them out, so that they are not all in the same Valkyrie, then you sort of need to run at least two 5-man to fill the rest of the space in the Valkyrie a long with a Tempestor perhaps. But I also like to have one or two 5-mans in the back for home objective camping, and I also like to run 5 10-mans (4 plasma, one Hotshots for Mortal wound strat), which then necessitates that you run two batallions with an extra CP-cost. So it all gets in the way of each other, I find.
  2. You see, I don't know if you're joking, trolling or are ignorant. The UM are no-where near the top of the Meta, or the power of any of the chapters. Making such a statement is factually incorrect. Goonhammer seems to think that UM are tier 1, at least. So I doubt it's meant as a troll-post. https://www.goonhammer.com/goonhammer-competitive-tier-list-november-2020/
  3. Finished up the Count-as Calgar/Chapter Master Argentius and a group of six Aggressors. Apologies for the potato-pic
  4. With the new marine codex and Ultramarines supplement, I have taken my Silver Skulls army out of the closet again. I felt like I needed supplement the current army with some Aggressors (6), Chapter Master Argentius (count-as Calgar) and Barabas Dantioch Reforged (count-as Guilliman converted from Abaddon). I started out by converting up an Intercessor sarge with a Thunder Hammer, because it's now and option and it sounded fun. The others three parts are in various early stages of work.
  5. I would like to see the Silver Skulls get fleshed out and read the details on how a loyalist band of Iron Warriors were taken in by and sheltered by the Ultramarines as a successor chapter to avoid the backlash of the Heresy.
  6. Well, feel free imagine another captain of choice, and weigh in on how you think the combo would rate against the other two :-)
  7. I know a lot of this is list dependent, but when speaking in general and in a TAC list, how would you rate these three from best to worst, if Guilliman is not as good as he used to be? Gravis captain + Lt. (177pts -2 CPs) Calgar + Lt (269pts +2 CPs) Guilliman (350 +3 CPs) Would it change the picture if you're going to pick a Librarian and Chaplain anyways, so there are two HQs to fill a battalion regardless of having to put Guilliman in a Super Heavy detachment?
  8. I'm looking forward to seeing how these comes along as I love the models and am also looking at building and painting my own, though not nearly as many as you have. In that regard I'd really be interested in hearing about good, efficient solutions to painting the Auxilia in larger batches with or without an airbrush, as I'm staring at 40 myself and sort of don't know how to approach them in the best way possible. Doing it all the traditional brush-way, just seem like it'd take forever with all the details they have. :-)
  9. The Primaris marines was what got me into playing Marines in the first place, having only played Chaos so far. So far the painted stuff of my Silver Skulls all-prmaris army includes: Gravis Captain Non-gravis captain (converted) Ancient 2x Lieutenant Apothecary (converted) Librarian 3 Inceptors 10 Hellblasters 15 Intercessors Redemptor Dreadnought Repulsor I have more Intercessors half painted, but I am sort of waiting for new kits, as I have a 2k army that I can play with now.

  11. Great looking Ogryn! I was wondering about what colours you prime your Solar Auxilia models? I'm looking at my Veletaris and they have SO many tiny details that I'm a bit at odds with what to prime them. First I thought about priming them green which is the colour of the armour, but then I thought maybe simply just black/grey/white zenithal highlight style, or maybe white for the underarmour/cloth? Same goes for the Ogryns, as I haven't planned on painting them in subassemblies, and they will have some hard-to-get-to places due to their side/shoulder armour.
  12. The Solar Auxilia models just beats the pants off of those new, and still nice looking, Rogue Traders for Kill Team. :-) It's a shame FW don't sell that Medicae model anymore. It's a nice model on it's own.
  13. Just wanted to let you know, that it was a joy to read through this blog, especially as I've bought Solar Auxilia Las rifles, Veletaris Storm and the Ogryns to use as my IG/Tempestus 40k army. I'm sure I'll refer back here for inspiration as I start the project in earnest. Hopefully you'll continue to share your great work! :-)
  14. That's odd. I have happily used the Leadbelcher spray for my entire Primaris army, and have not had any problems at all. I've never experienced washes beading up, so I'm not sure what the best solution would be, but matt or satin coating should make the surface less smooth and then probably eliminate the beading.
