  1. The Battlefield In A Box Craters are discontinued, but you can still find them around. I just bought a set for $29. Good fit for urban gothic setups. https://www.gf9.com/Default.aspx?tabid=348&art_id=4302
  2. Not true at all. Most recent example - they shipped me the Sigmar Dominion box Tuesday before release, I got it Thursday. Two days BEFORE the official release. And this was just a bit ago. They could have done better here.
  3. Nope. Not a hint of my direct mail order shipping, either. Do better, GW. You had two weeks to prepare, and I can walk into a store and buy it today, while my order is still ‘pending’? At least have it in the mail already…
  4. One of my 'local' stores has a full Turbodork rack. I used 'Redrum' metallic red on a Dreadball project a couple years ago, and was satisfied with the results. Alas, no pics at hand, but the paint covered well, but it was kind of thick straight out of the bottle. One of the good things with Turbodork is that you frequently have several options in shade within a color; there are like 3-4 different reds, for example.
  5. For a while, the Apple Books store was bundling the Horus Heresy Novels by book number into compilations of five novels. For example, the first one had books 1-5, etc. And you got a bit of a price break. Essentially you paid for four books, and you got the fifth ‘free’. However, they stopped at volume 7 with book 35 Eye of Terra being the final book covered this way. This was over four years ago now, so it seems unlikely Apple will finish up the numbered books Heresy compilations now
  6. I think they have already taken to heart the dogma of the modern video game industry - ‘release it today whether it’s ready or not, and then maybe fix it tomorrow.’ I don’t think we need to encourage GW to be any more like the video game industry, which is itself a cesspool of lazy, sloppy, buggy, creatively bankrupt game releases, followed up by copious micro transactions.
  7. Does it actually do anything for the quality or the speed with which you get your copy, or is this just flag-waving? It benefits domestic jobs rather than a sweatshop in China. That alone is reason enough to be happy. Not every business in China is a sweatshop. But do go on, wave the flag. Sorry, I don't care that the ChiCom government has a little less revenue. I do care that someone in England has a job. And before you cry over the poor left out Chinese workers, most of that business is supporting the regime that represses them, not going to the workers. So damn right I'll flag wave, even though I'm not in the UK.
  8. I am generally a fan of Haley's work, over many of the other BL authors that are frequently touted as 'the best' on forums. Baneblade, for example, was far greater than any model tie in novel had the right to be. And he did far better by the Blood Angels with Dante and Devastation of Baal than Swallow ever has with his silly stuff. But I found Avenging Son kind of 'meh' overall. Among the major threads, I liked the naval action and the Inquisitor sections, but I found the Marine and Administratum parts dull and boring at best. If I was to do a sequential ranking of Haley's 40K work, it would be hard to keep this from bottom or near bottom of my personal list.
  9. Abnett's Titanicus also has a look at a hive city dwelling couple who were basically hoping to get permission to have a child someday. So I guess there it was no kids unless the authorities say so. Then she got called up into the PDF, and he went kind of nuts while she was away....
  10. There is still no indication old marines are being removed. And Huron has a model from GW (not just FW), and the Red Corsairs have rules from GW studio (not from FW), so I'm not sure what you're trying to get at here. Perhaps you missed then that almost all of the rules and fluff developement for Badab was done by Forge World, not GW. And an ancient finecast Huron model is not a vote of commitment to the setting. People keep saying it, but the old marines ARE being shuffled to the background...and the next step is disappearing altogether.
  11. I'd be surprised if we ever see anything like the Badab War...the time for that was probably 15 years ago. There's likely a large number of current 40K players that wouldn't even get a reference to Badab or Huron Blackheart, given how old that fluff is and its development being largely linked to Forge World. Which no matter how much people cry about it here, it is a simple truth FW and its models and rules are well outside the experience of most players. And more importantly to GW, what models is Badab going to sell? The 'old' Marines that are in the process of being Squatted?
  12. Reynolds leaving is a shame; at least Manflayer is still in the pipeline. All the same, authors come and go. Abnett has greatly reduced his work with BL; people thought the world was ending there. And now Reynolds is out, but perhaps someone else will step up now. In regards to Haley doing more Baneblade work, this novella was just released a few days ago - https://www.blacklibrary.com/new-titles/featured/savage-2020.html?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Facebook&utm_campaign=BLDigiMon11May20&utm_content=BLDigiMon11May20
  13. Say what you want about GW paints, but Averland Sunset is one of the best covering yellows out there in any paint range. And it's available in a spray can, too. They offered a guide to Imperial Fists with only four colors, and no nonsense to get them table. If you're looking for a deeper golden yellow this may not be your cup of tea. But I think using any other color ranges yellows you are in for a long, tough slog.
  14. I sprayed my Necron Kill Team with Leadbelcher, and am now waiting for them to try so I can get on with painting tomorrow. I also splurged and gave my arm a break and ordered a Typhoon paint mixer and a wooden paint rack. Almost by default, this thing will have to do a better job than my shaking does.
  15. It's certainly been a tougher year for me to find stuff to vote for. 2016 had a couple of personal standouts for me that were obvious, Primogenitor and Shadowsword. Clonelord was a 2017 hardcover release missing from your Reynolds list; I think it was a decent, but nowhere near as impressive book as Primogenitor. I guess I'll do a top 3. And I've missed some releases. I have ADB's Black Legion here, but have not gotten to reading it. I'm sorry, but I'm not a fanboy of his. I'll get to it, but it's not a personal priority. Similar for Warmaster; I got burned out on this series long ago. 1.Dante - gave a lot of insight and added to Blood Angels lore; when you think about it, not a lot had been written about what is reputed to be the oldest non dreadnought Marine out there. 2. Red Tithe - Felt it was a little weak on the character/story side of things, but positively oozed with great atmosphere. 3. Carrion Throne - I agree with others it had some hard to swallow bits, but was still a good look at a different part of the 40K universe. Special award for most important, if not the best to Dark Imperium. It was a decent novel, and like it or not, it will be important going forward as a jumping off point for future of 40K post Great Rift/8th edition.
