Wolf in the Shadows

Was just watching the GW preview when they mentioned that there would ne a new Necromunda starter box. The reason, quite rightly, is to get new players into the game and as there are so many rule books it is difficult. I agree totally however as someone that wants to get into 30k it would be nice if they showed that sort of commitment to the game. I've had a few false starts never getting past the wish listing stage however the number of times figures have disappeared at short notice or have never been made keeps putting me off. The background and the community is the only thing that keeps me interested. I'd be happy if they did a zone mortalis size starter set in plastic with some assault and breacher squads just to show that GW and FW are going to support the game.

Have to agree regarding the heads although I'm hoping that the fur is due to how it was painted. The Grey Slayer upgrades look better however still didn't get that "take my money!!" feel

Apologies if earlier in thread however was wondering if Astorath can be used in successor chapters. Bit confused as states named characters can't change chapter title.

I forget that they are calling the Wolfspear a successor, which I don't agree with since they are basically a whole new "breed" then an actual successor in my opinion. But I digress, considering their role and title as a "successor" it does make me believe that they might have some additional options in terms of allying since the guard of the rift thing would be a multiple force endeavor. As for our currently lost great companies, I just had another thought that maybe they would leave them unknown or unreplaced to allow players to create their own great character companies to their own means. Want to recreate one of the old ones with a new Jarl? Go ahead. Want to create a new Primaris great company? Go ahead. A hybrid SW/Primaris? Go ahead. It opens up the option of no longer having to relegate your great company to being one of the 13th who left the Fang or renounced their oaths or whatever and allows them a great company on the grand annulus. Agree that replacing the depleted great companies does provide opportunity for adding primaris marines to the chapter. You can base tactics around the new units or a combination in the same way that existing great companies reflect their wolf lord's preference.

If the primaris were selected just after the HH thinking of having Bjorn or one of the ancient ones recognise the returning candidates as long lost brothers and ones that can tell the 'newer' members of the rout how it used to be.

Although will not get the new marines for space wolves had been thinking of doing a codex'ish' force and would likely use for that. Current thoughts are Mortifactors or Raven Guard and could use as allies.

During HH terran members of the VIth would have adopted Fenrisian culture. The source of gene seed that has been used to create the new marines could be a cocktail of existing marine chapters and 'fix' some of the more destructive elements. Will be interesting to see how replacements are supplied and if their gene seed can be harvested and used to create marines using chapter techniques/traditions. On a lighter note imagine the look on the thunder wolves face as the new primaris marines stroll towards them looking for a lift.

Great miniatures. Really like the black and as I've added Deathwatch to pile of things to paint will give it a try. Would like to know paints you used for the pouches etc. really nice look.

It was me wasn't it, I killed the last thread. As someone just starting 30k was the background and painting that helped decide on a legion. Although not as easy as I had expected looking forward to the challenge and finding out how I want to play those legions. I know that as time goes will pick up a few more and Blackshields made up of terran legionaries from the traitor legions in original legion colours may take over.
