  1. So I've been pulled into this now I suppose. I left this project years ago, or rather was forced out of my own IP due to lack of contributions. That said, I respect Bluntblade and trust his judgement in regards to the IP and usage of my Lightning Bearers/Harbinger in the BotL universe. I have no clear idea what happened, or why. Bluntblade has given me the bare basics, with what certainly seems like impartiality. I don't want, nor really do I need to know what was said in a project I left ages ago. After a brief conversation with Bluntblade, I asked him if knowing my position on certain issues, whether I would want my IP associated with this project. He said no, and as the person who was left in charge of my IP, again I trust him in this matter. I find this whole thing silly, but If you need me to fill out the form letter in Bluntblades place fine. I, Athrawes, hereby withdraw from further participation in the Brotherhood of the Lost project. Based on the Criteria above, I withdraw the following content: The Harbingers/Lightning Bearers and their associated domains and factions including the Forge World Akira, House Rakham, House Sunhava and The Legio Telesto
  2. I don't like using unpainted minis, so I try to paint everything before ever putting model to table. But I understand that people have lives/jobs/children, or other such commitments and so may only get 30 min a week to hobby. So my rule of thumb is this: your army needs to be more painted than the last time we played. Whether that means 1 new complete/painted model, or the whole army with at least 3 colors and basing., there is obviously a wide range for what counts as "more painted" Since there is no obligation to accept games from people you don't want to play, there is a social contract between players, that varies based on the players involved. For me, that means I don't like to play against unpainted minis, but so long as you're making progress of any kind towards that end, I'll accept a game no problem. I think models should be painted, I think it should be required for events/tournaments/megabattles, but for pick up and friendly games e.g. 95% of my hobby gaming, the rules are a bit more lax, and so I'm happy to just see people trying and putting whatever effort they can into their models.
  3. I must be confused, if the FAQ removes the asterisk saying that the unit chooses its powers from telekenisis or pyromancy, then what is the problem? Where else does it say they have to be tele/pyro?
  4. Rerolls occur before modifiers, so you'd only be rerolling the natural 1's i believe. Edit: To clarify (for myself also), the roll of a 2 doesnt get modified into a "1" due to the negative modifier until after rerolls occur.
  5. I’ll aend you a PM. And thanks for seeking it out for me.
  6. Love seeing that there is some tractionhere, I’d almost forgotten about the money I’d chipped in for this. I’m pleased with this representation of Icarion. @simison: is there a higher resolution of the pencil sketch? I only ask so that I can add it to my stock of character study artwork for icarion, sketches, and proper completed artworks.
  7. Yep that's Dawid. Looks like after the design work he went on to sell reproduction/added them to his catalog, way marked up from what I paid for his services helping to design the table and produce the larger pieces. He gave me the templates for much of What I posted and build them myself so i would definitely recommend a DIY terrain job, instead of paying for a commission
  8. This is what seems pretty strange to me. It's not all FW that got hit hard, just lords of War. FW tanks, and infantry are still fairly competitively priced, just not their lords of war. Kharybdis only went up 75points. Sicaran Venators only went up 15 points. Sicaran's actually got cheaper now that their main gun is free. But all FW lords of war have been priced out of matched play games. If they wanted lords of war out of matched play, fine, make all lords of war more expensive. But they only did it to Forgeworld not codex units. This all comes across as spiteful and arbitrary.
  9. @sfPanzer: I understand, and I didn't mean to sound like I was raging at you. I love 8th edition, and if the goal was to discourage the use of Lords of war in matched play by heavily increasing their points costs that would be totally fine. But from Chapter approved, it is clear they only did this towards FW LoW, not GW. When an Astra militarum player can bring a GW Baneblade to a matched play game for literally HALF the cost of a FW fellblade, it destroys any semblance of balance. That is what I find sad. Not that we recieved points increases, but that it appears to arbitrarily penalize people with Forgeworld models.
  10. I think the reasoning is pretty easy to spot there: - No super LoW in regular matched games - no change for apocalypse games were PL are used anyway - still possible to use in narrative games if you decide to use PL That is very possible, but why do it this way? It throws all semblance of balance out the window. If they didn't want to include titans or mega super heavies in standard games why let them be there at all, instead of a spiteful points increase? The group that I play with prefers points (as do I for as balanced a game as possible), so increasing points like this as you suggest, just to prove a point about restricting Super heavies, says that balance doesn't matter. 7th edition wasnt perfect, neither is 8th, but at least in 7th edition I could bring things like titans and Stormbirds and create a reasonably balanced apoc game.
  11. Various thicknesses of Foam core, layered to create the detail on the exterior. This is a photo of the inner structure of one of the arches. If you look at the inner layer of foam on this picture (the layer in between two other layers), that is the stone texture layer. You can actually see how each of the blocks visible on the outside of the structure is separate to give the buildings that uneven stone block texture found on the FW Prospero table. The sphinx are random ebay finds And the mat is the Kingdom of Heaven mat from gamemat.eu.
  12. My heart breaks over things like the Stormbird, and most FW Vehicles. It went from 650 points (without weapons) to being 2000 points (again without weapons), yet it will remain Power Level 50 I guess I just don't understand the reasoning behind most of these massive points swings.
  13. Here are some pictures of my table inspired by the FW terrain. I had help designing it by one of the guys who makes terrain for miniwargaming. http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i327/nickfayette1/D7AE7FB1-87F2-405F-B437-5D3D5B27B137.jpg http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i327/nickfayette1/E1F6259F-C9E8-43C8-8D5F-15E51F58D9D5.jpg http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i327/nickfayette1/D56848E3-D291-4A66-8D9C-F63C66623F7E.jpg http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i327/nickfayette1/928DCBB5-8F98-43A0-A384-056158932AEA.jpg
  14. Now that my armor is ostensibly done, It has allowed me to move back over to my ddwindling pile of unfinished infantry. Chief amongst these miniatures is the Thousand Son Praetor model released by FW. I was so heartbroken, when I first saw and then learned that lovely model was not going to be released with the sekmhet. But that sadness turned to joy when they released him as a Legion specific character. Beautiful model and a joy to paint. Aaru, Subcommander of the Sekhmet. Next up should be a few more Sekhmet and the the Castelax and then the army will be complete, baring a revamped version of Osiris that I have been working on. Additionally, As you might have noticed, I've been playing with new backdrops for taking photos and I'm unsure which best suits the sons. The blue I feel is a nice contrast for the warmth and brightness of the ruby red armor, but I keep coming back to the yellow as well. As always I'd love to hear your thoughts.o
  15. i mean the cheapest, long range/high damage asset for Chaos are hellbrutes with missile launcher and twin las or Las Predators. There arent really many FW units that clock in at more efficient at lower points brackets than those.
