  1. SkimaskMohawk I think you are correct for the current edition. I mainly remember looking at Dreads and rapiers as a teen and thinking they were a bit meh. Not having the stats to hand, I was curious as to how they played nowadays in Sherrypie's view. Doesn't sound like in that game they were great, but that doesn't mean that they don't have place. As you correctly point out, they can out out a lot of fire. I have some on order and am going to be interested to see how they actually perform.
  2. :D Yes, the 'new' aspect referred to the plastics rather than the rules or, indeed, the miniatures, given rapiers have existed for some time in previous editions, at least. I always used to look at rapier rules and think they looked a little underwhelming, so your comment isn't really changing that; there seem to be better options for heavy firepower in both armies and the main reason for taking support batteries might be AA, but that might require a more regular aerial presence than currently seems to be the case (local circumstances, of course, are likely to apply and potentially change that). I always used to place dreads, or, at least, the 'basic' ones in the same category of a little underwhelming, but the new ones might be worth a second look if taken in substantial enough numbers. Like everything in Epic, it probably depends on how you use them.
  3. Great pictures Sherrypie. How did you find the new Dreads and support weapons played?
  4. Yes, it makes sense in that regard in trying to pull us AT players in. But at the same time, having super-heavies and titans together might have been a better first step (although you suspect in that scenario the super-heavies might not do so well...). Very much looking forward to the speeders and artillery and should give some clearer differentiation between the marines and guard armies, which will be nice. Interesting that there doesn't sound like there is anything more specific rules-wise about sub-factions (Emperor's Children, Cthonian Headhunters, for example).
  5. Yes, absolutely, and, just to be clear, I don't think it has been abandoned, but the issues with supply are extremely frustrating. As somoene returning to the fold who didn't experience this issue with Titanicus, it is something of a surprise! :D I am pleased that the Great Slaughter has been announced and that there are some new formations and units within it - all good news. I find the whole point about multiple maniples of titans a little odd as surely that's the entire point of Titanicus and is something that game does exceptionally well, so why do it here too unless you intend to mix in the other units too??
  6. I believe that, when they came out, Fellblades were set out as being the Space Marine super heavy and they do have a lot in common with classic Guard super-heavies. Sabre makes sense as the light tank, but I hope that they also release some other armour options for the factions in each slot. Shadowsword and Stormsword for Guard, for example. At the moment the frustration is very much that you can't buy the stuff that there are already rules for, like the Xiphons and quite a few of the other air and armour options. Their supply issues are making it feel rather abandoned...
  7. There has a been an international shortage of containers for a while now I gather (I am not sure whether it was ever resolved, post pandemic), but recent world events will certainly not have helped. This is a great thread. One thing I did notice from the organisation charts which is not, to my knowledge, reflected in the yet to be released units was light tanks. Predators are listed as tanks, rather than light tanks, interestingly, so the slot does not appear to be filled by them. I am not sure if the Sabre is a light tank, but what else might be?
  8. Now there is a (welcome) blast from the past! Nice to see you Semper! :) As ever Stobz, the models are looking great!
  9. Hmm. Rules-wise, there is an issue, so perhaps it ought to be the Legion that forms the majority of your army (or pick if tied). I would guess that they were going for the original Epic sense that you had with Chaos armies or mixing diffrent gods and, therefore, legions (plus colour schemes).
  10. Depending upon colour schemes and whether you want something that closely mirrors your Iron Hands or something that contrasts, you could try the following: Legio Crucius (black and white with silver and gold trim) Legio Fortidus (copper and white with black accents/hazards and silver trim) Legio Oberon (black and orange (could be copper/bronze) with gunmetal trim) Crucius closely echoes the traditional Iron Hands scheme, whereas Oberon takes the black but introduces a strong contrast, which, if you did it as a metallic, would look rather impressive. Fortidus takes the white spot colour from the Iron Hands and uses that well and adds copper, which you could use on your Iron Hands sparingly and you could easily add some black detail on your titans if you were to go with that scheme too. All three have rules in Titanicus, or you can create your own (there are also rules for that) so you can have fun with any option you desire!
  11. Nice to see some of the second ed buildings in play there Pacific81. I have some of those, plus the Titan Legions card buildings (the set with the Imperator) and then the plastic ruins from 3rd edition to build too. So plenty of options, which is nice. I have some Battlefield in a Box streams which work well as rivers at this scale (I use them as such for my 6mm Napoleonics) and some 6mm scaled trees, so I am hoping that I am well set for terrain. I think the only thing I don't have are hills!
  12. I have a small collection of assembled 4Ground terrain and a 4' x 4' city mat I bought for Titanicus/Dropzone, which should all work nicely (I also have quite a bit of 4 Ground and TTCombat stuff to assemble). Here's one:
  13. From what I gathering, the HB's main attraction is the Point Defense trait which gives it shots against charging infantry, otherwise you would be taking the autocannon for anti-infantry work.
  14. Fascinating stuff. The Kratos Autocannon doesn't actually appear to be totally useless and may be a good bet against walkers/heavy infantry, by the look of it, which is interesting. If I have understood your calculations correctly, that is! My main box hasn't shown up yet, so I don't have the Sicarans, but I am interested to see whether you have the options to equip both identically. I do want to see the rules for light vehicles when those come out as I wonder if that may make some of the builds more useful (although it sounds like the Sicaran plasma option still won't be optimal).
  15. From memory the ones for Dropzone are taller, and now come with their attachment widgets. I don't have any of the modern AI aircraft (mine are still metal... :D), so can't say how well they compare yet, but it may be worth a search?
