Marshal van Trapp's Achievements

  1. For robes I've seen just bone, bone exterior and red interior, black exterior and red interior, and full red depending on the model, red tends to indicate veterans so if you want him to be a sword brother then incorporate red otherwise just plain bone would be good
  2. WOW has it been a while, with the launch of 9th edition I've begun re-evaluating my Black Templars army and I've come to the conclusion that I want it to be all (or mostly at least) Primaris. To that end I have bought 2 Indomitus boxes and begun turning them into Templars, First up I got the assault Intercessors, all the rank and file guys are just put together but the sword brethren have magnetized power fists and little reliquaries along with chained weapons: Next up got some outriders again the regular guys are just standard (with some BT icons on the bikes) and the sergeants have some knightly looking FW heads and again chained weapons: Also some Bladeguard Vets (again all got the chained weapon treatment) still have 6 of these guys left to build and will probably pick up 3 more to round out a second squad: And finally some HQ units including a Marshal, Castellan, Bike Chaplain and my newest Primaris High Marshal Helbrecht conversion: Here is a Closer look at the Helbrecht Conversion, used mostly the Judicar model as the base, rounding out the tip of the sword and making him a Combi Melta from a spare meltagun and half of a Rhino Stormbolter (they fit together perfectly once i trimmed the gubbins at the back of the SB) also just realized that he needs some chains on his weapons to make him Properly BT so thats the last stage of that: Still got a lot to do INCLUDING painting all of them but with the current state of the world it looks like I got plenty of time till they can hit a table Lemme know what you guys think and if anything needs improving! EDIT: very important, the Helbrecht is a "Counts-as" only, hence the lack of certain specific design elements he really just needed suitably BT iconography and proper weapons so i could use him as such when i wish to run Helbrecht in my list, the same will go for a Grimaldus "counts-as" conversion i have planned, the lore of my list doesn't include these actual characters so i didn't want to include the real heroes in my army but instead have equivalent characters for when tabletop-wise i want to use them
  3. So one of my friends sent me this on our BT discord, emphasized underlines by him; Seems like we're getting a full supplement to ourselves
  4. So if our crusader squads are going to be 2W and 18ppm, does that mean crusader squads are now a fairly even trade for primaris marines? Assault intercessors are 19ppm, meaning that for +1 point they get +1 attack but not much else, they lose out on the cheaper transport options and (pending a change to the codex) will only potentially get 1 special melee weapon per squad and no flamers (which will now be range 12"), meltaguns (which will not be +2D at half range), or plasma guns (which now only explode on natural 1s). Overall this is a huge plus for our firstborn brothers and as someone who wants to go heavy into assault this edition, I'm hoping that Assault Intercessors get access to the Veteran Intercessor stratagem just to give them a bonus over our crusader squads.
  5. Been thinking about it, still not 100% sure which way i want to go with the rest of the infantry, but i DO now have a Single HQ to show off, the great Saint-14! there are a few details i still want to do for him (like the gems on his helmet crest and button on his wrist) but overall i think this guy is mostly done!
  6. I'm finally back guys, Sadly this quarantine has not been the best for productivity but i finally got the next squad complete: The Red Raptors: sadly I had to use the flash because my old desk lamp died and it doesn't come out great, they are painted the same cherry red as the pre-heresy 1ksons using contrast Blood Angels red over here they are alongside the other squad i finished, readying their assault Hopefully i can get these all finished just in time for 9th edition!
  7. Thanks Jaxom! Hopefully will start on the next squad this week but I have fully completed the Magenta Squad: I'm just waiting on the watered down glue on the clump foliage to dry but otherwise these guys are finished!
  8. And the first member of the squad is to be done: I want over him with a satin varnish to give his armor a little sheen but unfortunately it was glossier than I had intended so I will have to go back over his base and the mud on his legs with some matte coat to even it out and make it look less wet. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with him, may add a bit of chipping on some armor parts maybe not but I'm calling him done once I get the eyes painted and the rim black
  9. So I finally started painting the first squad of marines, I let my Son pick the first scheme and he wanted pink so (volupus) Punk they shall be! Not going to lie i really love this shade of magenta pink, it looks great over my zenithial highlights and i think i will be able to get this to work great as a scheme for this squad, not sure what their squad name will be yet but I'm working on it. The rank and file soldiers will only be tabletop quality (as long as they look good from 3 feet I'm happy) so I'm not going to go crazy with the details but I plan to paint in the remaining details (grenades, guns, pouches) and then just filling in the bases Lemme know what you guys think of the scheme and if you guys have any ideas for this squads name, C&C always appreciated
  10. Just a heads up, if you're looking for a good shiny chrome base, krylon makes a "Brilliant Aluminum" that looks like super shiny chrome!
  11. Honestly I feel like it is and really the cost should be shifted over to the neophytes instead of the initiates, would make the whole thing way more fair
  12. AHH I forgot his horn! I'll have to add that in with some plasticard! As for not-iroka I didnt want him to be my librarian as Eris Morn is a MUCH better librarian in my eyes (she is way more powerful and mystical than ikora as far as warlocks go) but I also may not make this ikora and make this another member of the top brass from the Tower and make a proper ikora librarian to accompany my 3 vanguard leaders
  13. Well I've finished off the lieutenants for my marines meaning I now have a full 2k point primaris army all assembled and hopefully soon ready to paint First up is the great Saint-14 I went with the deathwatch helmet off their upgrade sprue as his head just because I do not have the greatest sculpting skills and it's the best bit I had on hand and honestly I think it works great for its needs. I'm not 100% sure what that clenched fist is supposed to be but I like to imagine Saint slamming his chest in challenge ready to headbutt any opponents into the ground! Next is the hot-shot Cayde-6 I figure exos would be hard to explain in 40k terms so I opted to make Cayde-6 more machine than man. Threw a pair of bionic legs on him and gave him the hooded head from the eliminators that makes him look like a robot so I think it works well for cayde, I can also hear Nathon Fillion's voice coming out of him telling the tyranids where they can solve their bio weapons. Lastly is Ikoro Ray (based personality wise on Ikora but obviously there are no female space marines) This one is kinda just run of the mill marine, I didnt really feel like modeling a whole full robe for him to match ikora but I also didnt want to use another sequitor body cause then he and Zavala would look to similar model wise and it'd be harder to tell them apart. I'm thinking of modeling a ruined wall to put behind him just to have him like butted up against it holding his guns up in preparation to jump out guns blazing. Overall I'm glad I got his whole army built up and I'm going to have a blast slapping paint on everything so I cant wait to finish priming the last few models and start the great paintathon
  14. My gaming group was thinking of a "Adaptive Strategy 2 CP: Use this stratagem on your second turn, if devastator doctrine was active last turn you can remain in devastator doctrine for this turn, otherwise you can select either tactical or assault doctrine and for this turn that doctrine is active instead. This stratagem can only be used once per game." Its in keeping with the idea of flexible strategies but also isnt just completely broken, also making it 2 CP means you have to really think about if you want to use it or not
