  1. I think people expecting regular chaos marine squads for Emperors children need to look at all the other cult legions are their complete absence there. I expect theyll tighten up noise marines too into some choice between pure noise weapons and a melee build with shriekers. What i really want is a Drummer support weapon though :D Also, for reasons covered in the Fabulous bill series, i really would not expect to see Clone-grim in the codex. (Read them, they rule!)
  2. If its a Sprues and Brews review im gonna go ahead and assume its glowing, even the bad bits, no especially the bad bits :D
  3. They did say they are looking at different fixes to Ad mech, presumably in the next one. And I wouldn't compel anyone to look at defilers, poor old ugly bawkses :D
  4. All their European orders go through Lyon now for Brexit related reasons. A 2nd ed reprint would be massive, but im pretty sure Cursed city has put paid to card heavy products, especially if Underworlds goes :(
  5. They aren't that different at their core, they come from a more optimistic age and have better toys but they are still human infantry in a horrible place, Kasrkin/Volpone or any other heavy elites are doing the same work since they expanded them out. That and the notorious problems between departments is probably why we haven't seen a book, well, that and then not existing for most the series.
  6. If you have the right weapons spare you could use the cawdor walkers as conversion fodder?
  7. But vaguely off the cuff and working to the inane separation between 30 and 40k if i was going to do a 40k Anathema wave id go with roughly the following: Character Clampack "Huntress" New Character type, Infantry fast psyker stalker, something like a polearm and big birdy friend? Unit box Courser Cadre, Infantry/Beasts unit but bringing back the classic cyber jackals with flamer/melta jaws and a different packmaster loadout something like chains and snares to bring enemies down and stop em disengaging. Unit box Stalker cadre, A sniper/overwatch unit with either needle rifles or some kind of las like Eliminators for some AT to keep em different from the 30k snipers Ideally id rebox the existing box to ten + command sprue with some more gear/character options. Vehicle box, Dual kit Talion gunship/ Divider stealth shuttle doing the obvious from their names, draw on elements of the Acquisitor. Then obviously id scowl at the 30k team :P
  8. Yeah... I mean look at the 30k list, it's not how I would have done it (The name vestals is loaded with wrong associations and seekers should be troops for examples) but it's right there and I'm on a bus :D
  9. That still relies on troop units being bad to "balance" though, what if the super broken unit is in your comp section?
  10. I mean .. The army lists already exist and look/ play significantly differently, though they aren't really present in the same system 30k and 40k are still extremely similar games and the two sisterhood's don't play anything alike outside of their defensive stats (and even there faith makes a big difference) or inhabit the same design space outside of armoured women. And really, in a game like 40k where over half the armies are variants of space marines, specifically all space marines rather than superficially similar organisations, it shouldn't be hard to see how to make it work :D
  11. The problem with the FoC was two fold: Firstly it entirely rests on the assumption that somehow taking a pair (Of likely minimal) troops units somehow balances the rest of your list. Somehow. Two troops choices could be under a hundred points in places :D And that relies on the internal balance of everything else, the filthiest list i ever ran was a Tyranid nidzilla type build with 6 troops choices and id have taken more if i could, i was forced to take some token (Elite) Ymargl stealers to fill points! And that leads on to the second problem, that the fixed slots only works well for the marine equivalent armies, if your army gets more elite the limitations are trivial, if you get chaffier you run out of slots entirely and need some bolted on mechanic (Or unique FOCs *shudder* )to make that work that kind makes a mockery of the whole system rendering it pointless. You could add a third thing in the form of letting you adjust the FOC, moving stuff to troops to make a thematic list, why arent they just troops anyway? Taking a certain HQ or some meaningless downside is just as token as needing a handful of scouts to stand around at the back of the board and again just messes with internal balance. The FOC wasnt an originally dreadful idea, back in 3rd i think it was an improvement over the old percentages which were even gamier but much like the rest of that 40k generation it went on a couple of editions too long and got bloaty. Not sure the current system is the best, but its a lot more fun to build weird theme lists or scenes from books with, which is 90% of my list building :D
  12. I think the pattern was there and demonstrated earlier in the thread that we could expect a chaff unit and a box of three elite things, I'd expect a terminator unit too down the line but at the newer scale and almost certainly not a copy of the heresy red butchers because of all that crossover blocking nonsense. Blood crushers would have had me back on the WE train like a powerful moss though lol
  13. You are just as likely to see metal decks and the like in that setting too :D More so in fact given one of the realms is all metal all the time :D
  14. Eldar civilian gear is going to vary by path, seers are always going to be wearing robes for example but i imagine most of the civilian paths communicate that through their dress symbolically as well as practically, like, look at the different Aspects and think how that might translate accordingly to a potter or a barista :D We do know they can change the colour of hair and garments with a literal wave of a wand so i would expect bold colours, possibly suggesting the craftworld of origin. A lot of the bare heads in ye olde days (Not bought modern Eldar in a while!) tended towards long hair in big ponytails or mohawks and the like so go big, probably go 80's or Xmen :D Sisters of Silence have popped up "off duty" a few times but are always continuing to wear their armour, though novices do wear robes (zzz) id probably mix that up with a Surcoat or similar to draw on their more knightly influences rather than magical or religious that robes typically suggest. Given their martial and fanatical nature and the extremely high budget of the Talons id bet Vratine armour is super comfortable and fitted though, and in the words of Men in black, "Welcome to the last suit youll ever wear :D " Might be worth checking the Watchers of the Throne books out to see if Aleya and her peers ever do wear anything else though, if nothing else its a great book series. Pressed enter too early! Daemonifuge has a lot of pictures of Sisters of Battle out of armour, of all kinds of ranks so there is excellent pictures out there. The whole comic might be online for free even, not that i could say.
  15. Yeah ive got a heap of nighthaunt for ruinstorm but i think bonereapers work too, you dont need to adapt much because daemons, but if you arent linking them to another army i think i really sci fi basing scheme helps, like blue sand, purple plants or something :D
