Dremel or Other Rotary Tool Recommendations
andes replied to MoriyaSchism's topic in + GENERAL PCA QUESTIONS +
I've found moto-tools to be way too much for miniature hobby stuff. They melt plastic far more than they route it. The Wowstick drill, on the other hand, is absolutely amazing... maybe someone makes a small-shanked routing bit it could handle. -

I think airbrush primers are more delicate by nature. My models don't see a huge amount of table time so I'm fine with it, but if I'm painting terrain I always use rattlecan primer. One of my favorite things about Stynylrez is the dry time. It's ready to take paint after ~20 mins.

I stopped using Vallejo primer for this reason... I just found it too unreliable. I know many people swear by it but I've been let down too many times. I'm using Stynylrez now, but recently picked up a bottle of Monument to experiment with.

LOL, I know right? I'll have access to Ork data in the app before T'au, despite me getting the T'au codex a month prior

Finished my new Kroot test model. It still needs proper basing, but I'll do the whole squad at once when they're all done. Overall I'm satisfied, though it took way too many steps for troops... but that's why we do test models, right? Figure out the process, etc.

I dunno, seems alright to me. Decent starter box, also works well as a way to add to an existing Beast Snaggas force. Two of those plus a Kill Rig is a reasonable foundation imo. Painting all those pelts is certainly a downside though ;-)

I, andes, continue the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge for 2024 by pledging to complete the Kroot Hunting Pack army set by year's end. In the month of April, I will plod along and complete 20 Kroot Carnivores.

He's done, and since he's going to see play today (and die immediately from New Model Syndrome, no doubt) he gets fancy completion pics on the table:

Those are wonderful @Brother Christopher. I love the banner! The filthy xenos at Rivendell are gonna regret crossing the Black Templars

Recommended board size vs. standard table sizes
andes replied to Bouargh's topic in + AMICUS AEDES +
The new size is a multiple of the folding cardboard mats GW includes in many of their boxed sets & games. I think it takes four of them to make the new size. I refuse to switch... I can't imagine trying to fit 2k of orks into the deployment zone when using those mini-boards, it's tough enough on a 4x6. -
I love the chaos posies. Slaanesh thumbs their nose at Khorne whenever given the chance ;-)

I rely on gravity to control overspray. I have a piece of heavy corrugated cardboard I put down to protect my work surface and I just paint away. Adjacent stuff on my desktop (mostly my paint collection) builds up a very slight dusting over time, but it also builds up a very slight dusting of... well.. dust over time so I don't worry much about it. Other WIPs do get moved out of range since I may be crazy but I'm not stupid ;-) I'm fortunate to have a dedicated room for hobby though. If I was painting in the living room I'd not be so cavalier.

Tau Codex Rules Preview

Fish of Fury does seem like a possibility. Rapid deployment of Breachers, that kind'a thing. -
What was your Favourite Edition of 40k?
andes replied to TrawlingCleaner's topic in + AMICUS AEDES +
I voted for 8th, but I suspect 10th will end up my fav in the long run. -
