Magistrix Remiosa's Achievements

  1. Definitely excited to finally dip into this. While the idea of just using current Daemons as a filler was nice, I am looking forward to the potential customization of this. Horus Heresy has become interesting enough that this is far more than just a "40k Adjacent" game, so specific models for it might be fun. That said, while the brutes have a lot of options (Thanks for the examples above!) but I feel like we need something more grandiose for the Regeant. The new Daemon Prince would be perfect and I am glad to see he is still on a 60mm base, which honestly is probably close enough for most people. I had plans for getting Daemon Princes later, but if this army gains enough ground, getting a solid "First Daemon Prince" to lead my other warlords to their own ascension might be perfect. Pretty sure I will be looking into magnetizing Slaanagors onto a 50mm base. Or something of that sort. I am aiming for a Slaaneshi bend anyways, but with the different variants there is a LOT of variety I might consider. So much potential!
  2. Wow, not quite sure how I missed that. Huscarls were already a little awkward, as you can upgrade a Command Squad with most of their loadout AND get a banner. They have their uses, but...hmm. As I have begun their repairs, I will need to source some extra bits anyways, so will figure out if I want to go all in with Thunder Hammer and Stormshield Cataphractii arms... We shall see.
  3. Thanks everyone for the replies, certainly a lot to consider. I really do agree that the buffs to WS and such would be really good, and Lightning Claws feel a BIT wasted as I seem to struggle most against Terminators and Dreads. I can bolter down the rest. The biggest reason why they might not just be Huscarls is taking a Spartan. I have a lot of things I would LIKE to take in the Heavy Support slot, so using my Spartan in a Dedicated Transport would be sweet. The only real way I can see that working is with the regular Terminator Squad, which is honestly kind of lame. lol So the options that seem to be set on are: All thunder hammer/storm shield, which gives the option of running as Huscarls. Cheap Power Fist and Stormbolter The +1 WS warlord is FANTASTIC, I have enjoyed him, but I was hoping/planning on bringing Rogal Dorn, which would replace him. So back to awkward Terminators.
  4. Hello everyone! With my friend group pushing to get more games of Horus Heresy in, I have gone back to my Imperial Fists to fill in the last few gaps and get everything painted. My biggest problem is this: I messed up with my Cataphractii. I was a fool and attached too many of the bigger shoulders before the smaller ones. Too stuck in the Space Marine mindset of one shoulder pad. As I fix those, I think I need to reconsider my loadout. Sadly, Terminators are just not the heavy hitting force that I wish they were. While I am aiming for a 10 man unit to escort Rogal Dorn in a Spartan as my Hammer, I think I might just redo them entirely. Right now, I have 5 Lightning Claws, 4 Power Fist/Solarite Gauntlets + Storm Bolter, and a Power Sword plus Storm Shield. I was considering a retool of: 5 Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield Terminators and then either 5 shooty support or stick with the 5 Lightning Claws. With this being old school AP, my lack of AP sucked versus Terminators and Dreadnoughts, and I was just rather pillow fisted. How do YOU equip your Cataphractii Terminators and why? And yes, I know Tartaros are better for Fists, but I am working with the Age of Darkness box for now.
  5. Hello everyone! Been slowly building up my Imperial Fists, balancing variety with effectiveness. As I plot out what units I want to do, trying to use as many slots as possible without spilling over, I look at Fortifiations. Imperial Fists seem perfect with Fortifications, to the point where it is sad you only get one slot. But I am not even really sure where to START with Fortifications. Most of the old buildings aren't sold, so outside of the Hammerfall Bunker I can't just go and buy something. I am perfectly find with converting, but I don't know dimensions or scale or even which fortification to choose. So, the questions I have for you all today: Which Fortification would you choose and why? What squads would you embark in them? (I got a Heavy Weapon Squad and eventually a Castellan or a Siege Breaker that seem best) Does anyone have any dimensions to go by when crafting some of the common fortifications? Does anyone have any suggestions for easy to get material to scratch build some fortifications? Thanks everyone! I am excited to have a full force up and running. Got 1k painted, on the road to at least 3K with Dorn in the mail!
  6. Hello everyone! So Horus Heresy has really amped up in popularity at my LGS, with mostly new players eager for a chance to actually play it. So, as we wait for the box to drop, I wanted to ask some questions and see if I can get some guidance with preperation as I plot out models and armies. I know we don't have the full rule drop, but I know leaks and such have gone around and people have insight from the previous edition. I am just looking for as close to answers as I can get and maybe get a drop on a few things. 1) Are Indomitus Terminators useable in Horus Heresy? I have a box of 40k Terminators that I want to get some use out of. Would these be legit? What kind of loadouts do they use? Could I just use them as other termies and roll with it? I am planning Imperial Fists if that makes any difference. 1.5) Same question, but what about Boxnaught Dreads, anything special about them or can 40k ones just port over? 2) Are there any special ways to build armies? I know 7th/1.0 used a standard detachment for most things, has that changed at all? Do the Imperial Fists have any special troops/Rites of War that can alter how you build an army? 3) How do Daemons of the Ruinstorm work? Can I just use the regular 40k Daemons? Are there some 40k units that don't transfer over, like Chariots? Are there any unique Daemons of the Ruinstorm things that aren't represented by the 40k Daemons? I am looking for a "quick" and easy way to build up a Traitor force to balance things out and I already have a few Daemons (mostly Slaanesh). 4) Are fortifications a thing that can be taken in a regular army? They got rather ignored in 40k, but I would love to make some hardcore Imperial Fists fortress models! I know not all of this is crystal clear, but I am just looking for some insight. I am getting antsy, so anything to kinda prepare me for the big release is good! Thanks for all the help, I am excited to dig into this.
  7. We got quite a bit of excitement from some of the regulars for Horus Heresy, which has helped to increase my own hype. That said....I still haven't 100% picked a Legion, but I plan on getting the box for myself at the bare minimum. The plan afterwards will likely involve Legion specific dice and Primarch and then....lots of conversions and such to get some more theme and flavor into the starter box and beyond. We shall see where it all leads, doing one traitor and one loyalist legion would be sweet, but that may be more.....down the line sort of thing. lol
  8. With a BIT of time to spare, I have completed my vow. Again, I did not do as much as I had hoped, but I am working on getting my focus and progress up. I certainly haven't been idle...just everywhere. So while there are still Space Marines to paint, this will be it for now. Here are my 5 Assault Intercessors, my Indomitus Captain, and Fafnir Rahn...who is just a super rad model. My Imperial Fists scheme is very basic, not sure I really do them justice, but I appreciate the gritty and grimy idea. Either way, he and the others are complete!

  10. Been a growing fan of the Imperial Fists for a long while now. And have had a custom chapter who had changed around origin for a long while. Sooo, in an effort to solidify things, I have settled on many things. I have actually chosen a Chimeric Geneseed, as I couldn't pick between Dorn and Sanguinius, which feels perfect. The hardcore, fortified staunch defenders of Dorn mixed with the noble and brutal Blood Angels. I also plan to incorporate some actual Imperial Fists and Blood Angels as guiding veterans of sorts. And will likely play them in Horus Heresy when that finally comes out.
  11. Some progress on my custom chapter! Still need to do the basing, will settle it all at the end, but behind them are some finished boys to show off the end product.
  12. I, Magistrix Remiosa, pledge my bothers to the cause, to begin my Crusade in earnest to take back Imperium Nihilus! I vow 5 Assault Intercessors of the Magisters of Iron chapter. In addition, I vow Captain Deimos (Indomitus captain) to lead them alongside his mentor Arctirus Farahn of the Imperial Fists (Fafnir Rahn). These battle brothers shall join my spearhead and get me further to a complete Crusade force. For Humanity and for the future's foundation, we fortify!
  13. My god...this month did not go as planned. Long story short, I had a LOT going on this month, most of which were distractions of many number. I literally did nothing Orky until the last few days where I crammed these guys in... Might go back and spice them up a bit, but for now, I call them good. Obviously, my attempt to inspire a boost to Ork painting failed. That said, despite a lack of painting overall, I do feel like more in the painting mood overall! Feels promising, we shall see how far that can carry me. Got a project to complete (very elite, all contrast, should be easy but famous last words...) and I hope to get some more stuff done before the year is over, but we shall see. For now, my Orktober is complete! WAAAAGH!

Models, before and after, for Orktoberfest 2021.
  15. Got my first git painted, in time to say I finished something for Orktober! WAAAGH! Quick and dirty has been my style for a long while, kinda stuck with it but it works! And since this Fest is going through Nobvember, I am gonna see if I can buckle down and paint some more gits! Starting with 5 Kommandos and their Bomb Squig from the lovely Kill Team set.
