  1. Not quite sure why everyone is so down on the paint scheme, 30k has far too many black Legion's (pun unintended) before you add in elements such as the Black Shields and specific Legion companies likes the Catalan Reivers and Justaerian from the XVIth and the Templar Brethren from the VIIth. Give them some variety, and gun-metal for the Iron Hands feels appropriate (more so than the oil-effect that we've seen before). Love the model, with the sole exception of the 'closing one eye to aim' when weapons have their sights fed into various systems - it feels a little unnecessary. Want to see what are presumably mechatendrites flowing from his backpack and wrapped up in his cloak.
  2. Not quite sure why everyone's so salty on the prices. Inner Circle Companions are the same price as Bladeguard Veterans Upgrade Sprue is the same price as the Black Templar and Cadian equivalents Deathwing Knights are only £2.50 more than the new plastic Terminator kit. Yeah, it's all what I was expecting. That's also why I picked up two of the Deathwing Assault boxes, the discounts are always worth it.
  3. I'm also surprised how quickly these have appeared for general release considering the Army Box has only been out for two weeks now(?). I can't wait to get my hands on those Companions and see those sprues. I want to see how many swords you get, because I can see a lot of them being used in kitbashes with the new Company Heroes box.
  4. There is so much I love about this model: MkV Armour - I know it's not everyones cup of tea, but it's always been a favourite of mine. Any time I see a model in a full set it gets a big thumbs up from me! Battle damage - and not just some minor scratches, but great chunks out of the shoulder pads. Couple that with the numerous staples that are holding his face together, this guy's been through some tough times. Really gives it 'character'. Blackshield - I often thought that there was a missed opportunity on doing more with Blackshields. They're a good concept, but never got fleshed out. The posing does initially look a little weird, but I think it's the angles. He's obviously running forward, and also turning his torso at the same time - a better side shot would make things click I think. I will agree though as to asking why he has World Eater iconography, when everything in this article suggests he should be sporting War Hounds, but I'm sure there's some explanation there.
  5. So, all the way back in 4th Edition, I had a 1,500pt Deathwing force that I would game with. It wasn't very good, it was terribly painted, but I loved that force - it felt very thematic to me. I've always loved Terminator Armour as a concept, and something about having a very small model-count force appeased the hobbyist in me (I was never one for horde armies). 1,500 points, 15 models; Belial, 2x Deathwing Squads (1 was upgraded to a command squad with the banner an Apothecary), 2 Land Raiders (1x regular and 1x Crusader) and 2 Venerable Dreadnoughts (both had Missile Launchers, one had an Assault Cannon and the other a Plasma Cannon). So what better time to try and recreate this than with a whole new scale of Terminator Armour, and models to go with it! Having run through the new SM Codex and DA Supplement, I think I have the equivalent coming into 10th Edition: Belial (85pts) Ancient in Terminator Armour (probably with a fancy Power Sword) (75) Deathwing Squad 1 (5 models, 2x Chainfists, 1x Assault Cannon) (205) Deathwing Squad 2 (5 models, 2x Chainfists, 1x Plasma Cannon) (205) Land Raider (+ all the trimmings) (240) Land Raider Crusader (+ all the trimmings) (230) Redemptor Dreadnought (Heavy and regular Onslaught Gatling Cannons) (210) Redemptor Dreadnought (Plasma Incinerator and Gatling Cannon) (210) Comes out at 1,460 if I have my calculations right. Enough that should I want to include an Enhancement I can. This is by no means a list for people to comment and critique on; I'm not here to be competitive, I'm being nostalgic, and I'm looking at this from a modelling perspective. I'm fairly sure I could do better with a Chaplain instead of an Ancient, and maybe the Ballistus is a better dread for what I want than the Redemptor. If I constantly tweak, nothing will get done, and I'm terrible enough at getting things done in the first place without indecision creeping in... "So what are you going to be doing here?" Good question, imaginary voice in my head... This is going to be a place for me to dump various aspects of this project going forward. From planning (models, colour schemes, etc) to execution (build and paint). It's an excuse for me to get some sprues out and see what I can do with kitbashing, build in some scope for flexibility with some magnetisation, and ultimately give me some drive to get a project done in the year. I already know what I'm likely to do; buy everything in one go, build it all, get is sprayed with a primer - and then panic at the prospect of painting it, and leaving it there. Hopefully this will keep me motivated to push through and actually complete something.
  6. Quick question, I think I already know the answer. The code in the back of my 10th Ed Codex Supplement isn’t working. I’m guessing it’s because they are time-locked to when the supplement is released fully. Am I right in thinking that, or have other people been able to redeem theirs already?
  7. They don't have to be massive, but I can't help but think that it's only big enough to use between my thumb and index finger. At least if it were a bit longer you could get some fingers between the bottle and the opener and it would be a better motion to open. At least, that's they way I see it.
  8. When the payday is big enough… My last ditch gamble was to head up to WHW on Saturday to try and get a copy. I’m glad I didn’t have to resort to that - it’s a 170 mile journey each way, and I would have probably had to get a hotel the night before to ensure I was at the doors early enough to get myself a copy. Still cheaper than paying a scalper…
  9. It's quite depressing - especially as I'm currently shifting some stuff on eBay and often get thrust with listings for this book. One guy has 23 copies up at the moment. This one seller has nearly 1% of the global stock. I despair...
  10. Looking at the “in use” picture in the bottom corner, it appears to be very small. As cool as this looks, I think this falls under “novelty” than useful.
  11. I did. i was in a store. I camped out there from 10am to ensure I was first in the queue. I was signed in from 3pm, and hitting refresh from 15 minutes to 4pm. The site was a complete mess, various errors all over the place. I don’t think it actually made to the site until 20 past 4, but was inaccessible for a while. I managed to get lucky - for a brief moment the “add to cart” button went yellow. still took me about 10 minutes to get through the checkout page and get an order reference number. The queue was still listed as 'paused' at this time. Feel really bad for the guy behind me…
  12. In store, on the terminal, just managed to get one - FINALLY!! But it’s rough there, person behind me is having more problems
  13. Well, that was really straightforward - but they really weren't kidding about the site not liking Safari on Mac.
  14. Interesting - the queue is up on the site, with a dedicated 10:00 open time, and a Captcha to prevent robots from joining. Where was this last week, huh??
