  1. @Flame boy, I didn't preshade them but I did paint the first two layers with an airbrush for the smooth transition then painted the edge highlights and dark blue shading by hand. Love your colour scheme btw, it's very striking and really original.
  2. These are the first batch of my Primaris Marines, called The Abyss Watchers (I'm a Dark Souls fanboy :P ). Looking forward to adding more stuff soon.
  3. This is my Redemptor Dreadnought for my Abyss Watchers, it's the easy to build kit but I love it all the same.
  4. @Fire golem- Thanks, glad you like the NMM. @Lordvelype- It is indeed. ;) @Sagentus- Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it and it definitely gives me more motivation to pait more. :) @Hushrong-Thanks! I was originally going to paint Zardu grey but hadn'y seen him painted in red so thought I'd give it a go. I'm currently working on batch painting some Intercessors for The Abyss watchers so should have an update soon. I'm also itching to get going with my Terminator Chaplain and Xiphon for my Bearers too. Mike.
  5. @Lexington The Leviathan I did a little differently and mostly by airbrush. I based it with a 50/50 mix of black and Mephiston red, then airbrushed on Mephiston black for the first layer, then airbrushed Evil Sunz scralet for the next. I painted really thinned black into the recesses of all the pannels and edge highlighted the red with a 70/30 mix of Evil Sunz scarlet and Kislev flesh. Hope that is useful. Mike.
  6. @Ciler - Yup, it's freehand. Glad you like it. :)
  7. Hey guys, It's been a while since I updated this thread and in that time I've painted two new models, a Word Bearers Praetor and a Primaris Captain. I painted this Praetor as part of a model swap on Instagram and used it as a good excuse to try to push my skills by trying things like NMM. Pretty happy with how it turned out, especially the NMM on the silver. This is the 2nd Captain of The Abyss Watchers, my new homegrown Chapter that makes quite a few references to one of my favourite games, Dark Souls. My girlfriend actually suggested the armour colour as she really likes Sotek green, and fresh from painting the above Praetor I thought I'd have another go at NMM shiny armour but decided to spend less time on other areas so the scheme wouldn't take too long to paint. Really happy with how it turned out and I'm very excited to get the army up and running. Cheers guys, Mike.
  8. Hey guys, This is the 2nd Captain of The Abyss Watchers, my new home-grown Primaris Chapter.
  9. Been painting this up for a model swap over on Instagram, this Word Bearer will soon be leaving to keep an eye on those crafty cousins of the XXth.
  10. I love your conversions, they all look really 'natural' like that's how the model is supposed to look. Going to be one very characterful army when you're done. As for your freehand knotwork, I think it looks great and I think you should stick with it rather than following FW's example because, just like your conversions, it's your own style and your own mark on your army. Individuality and uniqueness are king for Space Wolves right? Mike.
  11. Another one done, this time a fun little Praetor, or Chaos Lord, conversion.
  12. Thanks. I was suprised at the detail too, there are liitle diagnostic screen sorta things with buttons on each side of the hip area at the back, a very cool detail for FW to put it. Just adds another layer to an already impressive sculpt. The front is done with transfers. Freehanding something like the Word Bearers symbol is waaaay out of my league! :p Thank you, I appreciate it. Thanks man. I just sorta went for it with some white paint. :p Borrow away. ;) So I finished my Praetor yesterday. This model was just for a little fun, I doubt I'll actually field it that often and it's far from the most convincing of conversions, but I had the spare parts and fancied painting something a little different. And with his 'enforcer' :P Not really sure what I'll be tackling next, I have a Melta support squad built that need doing and I do need to buy some Rhinos, and maybe convert some Veterans. Least I have some options. :) Cheers, Mike.
