Cal nodded to Roly, doing his best to stay calm even as his heart began to race. “Ignore the ones at the back. Stop the closest ones from reaching the valks.” He followed his own advice, spotting another scruffy rebel armed with a bag move towards one of the transports, and fired another quick burst of semi-auto las fire at the man's back. Molina dropped into a crouch as soon as he heard the first explosion. He hustled across to take cover behind a stack of heavy crates that separated the firing yard from the landing field. Behind him, he heard running feet and then Roly dropped into cover beside him. Cal could see the insurgents rushing in towards the row of precious transport aircraft, and had to wonder how the enemy had managed to penetrate their defences so easily. No time to stop and think about it now. He raised the borrowed m.36 and fired a volley into the mass of approaching bodies. Comrade Order: Half Move, Take Cover Cal Actions: Half Move to be in cover SAB: BaS43 +10(Short) +??(Horde Size?) = 53, Roll: 39, Hit with 1DoS Lasgun Barrage grants +1DoS to a successful Hit = 2DoS, so 1 additional hit (or maybe 2 if the Horde bonus is +20 or more?) Dam 1d10+3 Pen0 1: (5)+3 = 8 2: (8)+3 = 11 maybe(?) 3: (3)+3 = 6 -

Ah, my mistake, yep will have see if there is a NPC who can do stuff like that. As to the fight, I think Cal would take a half move to get closer to the attack, but also if possible to get into some cover? And then a SAB with the lasgun he's already holding at whichever insurgents are closest? (From the description of the scene, I'm thinking he's probably within 50m for Short Range?) -

For some reason (I'm not sure if its the way the weapons are posed, or the collar and helm combo, or a mixture of things) the Marine Sgt in the introductory set is giving me the feel of the old metal Marine veteran with the power mace? If I got hold of one, I think he'd definitely get a weapon swap to match it more closely!

Question; will there be any opportunity to make Weapon Customisations (as per pg190) before we start whatever our first mission is? I believe @A.T. 's Max took the Trade: Armourer Skill, so Cal would like to jump in first and request him to fit a Custom Grip and Reduced Weight for his new Melta Gun, as per the points mentioned in my introductory IC post (especially as Meltas can't mount any of the useful Upgrades like Sights!) -

Cal had lined up on one of the three male singers. As the order was given, he breathed out and gently squeezed his trigger, once and twice. The sudden roar of the Ogryn's ripper gun drowned out the snap of the lasgun, but the effect was unchanged. Double tap to central body mass. Death should be almost instantaneous. -

Molina carefully checked the m.36 he'd been handed, making sure the clip was properly in place and flicking the charge register to make sure that it was ready to fire. The renegades deserved to die, but he didn't see any reason to be cruel about it. He imagined facing a firing squad wasn't something you'd want to have to go through twice, so he was determined to get it right first time. Quick and clean. He raised the weapon, settling the stock against his shoulder and aiming down the barrel towards one of the figures at the posts. The gun didn't have a scope of any kind, but at this range iron sights were more than enough. -
I figure this thread is probably the right place to mention this? Just a note that we are approaching the end* of the fundraising period for the next year, and we've had an amazing response. Nearly 95% of the target figure has already been donated! https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387852-2026-2027-annual-bc-fundraiser/ ...but it would be awesome if we could hit the full $2.5k? If we're in a position to assist, even if it's only a few £, $ or €, then that would be really appreciated? (And considering the amount of time we all spend here on the B+C over the course of a year, it's staggeringly good value! ) Obviously, I've no idea who might have already donated or not, and if you already have, thank you very much! *the donation window is always open, so the fundraising period doesn't actually 'end', but you get what I mean...

Cal shrugged and raised his hand at the call for volunteers, moving to stand closer to the medic that the sergeant had pointed at. He didn't have any problem with killing traitors. Better now than on the front where they might be shooting back. Plus it made sense to get in with the doc. You never knew when you might need patching up. He wondered if the traitors had been interrogated yet, though. They were locals, or at least had been here much longer than the 8th, so might be able to provide the Miradorans with intel about the war on Kulth. “Before we put them down, has anyone pressed them for information yet?” he asked softly. Another of the men, a balding, older trooper who Cal thought was called Roly, had raised his hand a moment after Cal. Now he scowled and let out a derisive snort. “Fool boy. If they had anything useful, someone more important than us lot would be asking the questions…” -

With a sigh, Cal trudged down the lander ramp to the muddy ground and onwards through the huge camp surrounding Fort Drusus, following the markers for Bastion Aleph. He saw a few other Miradorans heading in the same direction, but Cal didn't make eye contact with any of them. Instead, he kept his head down and kept moving. The heavy meltagun at his back caught and clattered against his other gear, and he hawked and spat in irritation, even as he tried to shift the strap holding the gun to a more comfortable position. His flem was a disgusting grey-black colour, even after only a few minutes breathing the filthy air of Kulth. Cal wasn't happy to be here on this slag heap of a world, and he wasn't happy about his new role either. He was a better than average sniper in a regiment of snipers, a decent scout and survivalist. He wasn't a gunner. The cooker he carried might have raw firepower, but it had none of the finesse of his grandfather's long-las. Too heavy, too. Once Cal got settled in a bunk somewhere, he wanted to see if he could pull some of the pointless outer covering away from the body of the gun. Needless extra weight. The grip was all wrong as well - standard issue, but it didn't fit in his hand the way it should. Wrong angle, maybe? Changing it out might be beyond his own abilities, though… His plans were interrupted by his arrival at Bastion Aleph. Cal presented his papers to one of the muster Sergeants, tapping the blue and white castle badge on the flak plate on his left shoulder as he stated his regiment. The other man grunted, unimpressed, and waved him through. Cal did as ordered, hurrying onwards. Now… where was his new Section billeted? -

Looks like except Legends stuff like WG, Skyclaws and LF? (nice that the latter actually have points costs again!) Weird that Dark Angels and Deathwatch stuff are listed here, but not the SW units? Would be very good if the Leader/Support lists could be updated to include GH, BC, WGTDA, etc?
