  1. Now updated to include the version 1.3 points changes. If I've missed any, let me know and I'll amend accordingly.
  2. So, while trying to work out if/how I might bring my 13th company back out of storage and onto a gaming table, I decided to compile the Wolves and regular Astartes MFM entries into one simple (albeit huge!) list. I also decided to list pts/model for the units to actually open up the possibility of making irregular sized units (in a casual environment, where this could be house ruled in as an option). After completing it, the sheer bloat in the number of different unit options struck me, because... well... just look at it! Especially as I've not (yet) added the Forge World or 30k Legends entries to this list. But I did wonder if anyone else might find this useful... so, here it is: Named Characters Arjac Rockfist - 95pts Bjorn the Fell-Handed - 180pts Canis Wolfborn - 75pts Harald Deathwolf - 85pts Krom Dragongaze - 3. Just re-read it now, I'd obviously glossed over that part while reading it earlier.
  4. Of the armies I have, this index actually looks to be the best overall. I'm not thrilled about the Chosen entry (as my old squads used special weapons, not melee weapons) and the Terminators are a bit underwhelming (but I almost never used them before, so not an issue). Where I used to use mixed Marks of Chaos in my lists before, I think Undivided may be the way to go now. The ability doesn't require utilising a Dark Pact in order to work, unlike the other Marks. Although that does irk me somewhat, as I really dislike the over-proliferation of re-rolls in 40k that have filtered in over 8th and 9th. The Legionnaires loadout options would require me to alter how I used to set up my old Chaos Marines units. I always used to go with 10 men, 2 special weapons (either Plasma Guns or Meltaguns). That isn't possible any more, which is a bit of a shame. But, given the rest of the changes, I think 10 men with 1 Plasma Gun and 1 Autocannon may be the way to go, at least assuming they don't amend the Autocannon profile down the line. But, given the armies I have, this looks like the best index thus far for me. The Space Wolves one is awful and I don't yet have any anti-tank for my Blood Angels. So I may have to think about making some updates to my old models. My Chosen now need melee weapons, and I may need to alter a few other models here and there, but that's OK. Especially as they're Iron Warriors, so painting up a few arms and weapons should be quick and fun (gunmetal, brass, and hazard stripes... done!) I may even adapt my Wolves to use this index as well. They're modelled as 13th Company, so that shouldn't be a problem. Plus, they're better modelled and painted than my old Iron Warriors. Hmmm, decisions, decisions...
  5. It doesn't look like there is a restriction. As they've specifically excluded Deep Strike etc. from the Strategic Reserves rules, which includes the first battle round restriction. This could be intended, or an error. At this stage, we don't know. So the RAW currently wins out, that being that there is no restriction to units arriving from Deep Strike on turn 1.
  6. As someone that has literally no interest in official events and tournaments, I really couldn't care less about those restrictions. I'm actually rather relieved that those units are going to get rules, even if they are just "Legends" datasheets. Even then, there's no reason why you couldn't use appropriate proxy rules for units, so long as it's clear what is being used as what. @Interrogator Stobz let me know when you get that teleporter working. Can you imagine the shock (and horror) of the Warhammer World staff when the entire B&C mod team (and Cedos) suddenly materialised in the middle of the gaming hall one weekend.
  7. There is always a risk when announcing something months in advance, as maintaining hype over that period of time is difficult. I'm still cautiously optimistic about 10th, as it does look like there are some significant improvements coming, compared to the bloated mess that was late 8th until now. Unlike some of the recent comments, I'm fine with GW treating this like a hard reset (similar to 3rd edition) as what they currently have really doesn't work for me. If this does mean that we need to be patient while they develop the game, that's fine... well, so long as they actually correctly identify problems and fix them. Which is something GW have not been particularly good at of late. Now, my personal excitement has dropped slightly compared to a month ago, simply due to the delay in updates that preceded Warhammer Fest followed by the faction focusses (of which only a couple of have really been of interest to me, as I would only be interested in playing certain factions). But I'll be downloading the rules and lists when they become available, so I can make an informed decision as to whether I want to play again (something I haven't done since the 8th edition codexes started to get bloated by supplements, paid patches (Chapter Approved) and campaign books). It'd be nice to dust off my armies and play again. Well, so long as the game isn't decided by meta list building (like it has been) and rewards good tactical play.
  8. It certainly would be preferred (for me at least), if they returned to the standard size being 6' by 4'. I also wouldn't be surprised if GW looked at it from the point of view that such a change would be good for them financially, as it would essentially render the current range of gaming mats / terrain boards obsolete, thus creating a demand for a new range of 6' by 4' mats / boards that GW could (and likely would) sell. But from a gameplay sense, having a larger board makes movement and positioning more important, which is a boon to tactical play. As it makes it more difficult to maintain optimal range to multiple units, as units will likely be more spread out, thus forcing players to commit to a tactical decision on which enemy units to focus on. It's certainly the case with a number of games (not just 40k) that condensing large model counts onto small tables leads to bad games. Of course the opposite can also be true, having units too spread out can lead to a lack of action, which can get boring as the players find themselves doing less. So I think one thing we as yet don't know, which is the points costs of units, will be a big determining factor into whether or not this does/should happen. As if armies are getting smaller, the table size shouldn't be getting bigger.
  9. It's a Mechanicus head, I think from the Skitarii box. Glad you like him.
  10. Try to keep this on topic of how GW should handle Armour Piercing, rather than chasing off-topic tangents, please.
  11. If you use the full version of the site (not the mobile version) and if you go to the main page of any of the sub-forum then scroll down to the bottom right, you'll see "Forum led by: ..." followed by the names of the Moderating team that oversee that sub-forum.
  12. This topic has deviated a long way away from its original premise, that of GW's escalating prices and the impact that has on the hobby. Given that the last couple of pages have focussed almost entirely on 3d printing and the legality of that particular avenue of accruing miniatures, rather than the subject of GW's prices, I think it's time to call this topic done.
  13. In the case of range, if they are outside of the 12/18" limit but all other targets are out of range by virtue of being 25"+ away, then by definition the affected enemy unit must be the closest enemy unit, thus fulfilling the other criteria by which they may be targeted.
  14. Short of the Heavies suffering a casualty, no. Transport capacities are what they are. Still, you could have him accompany a unit of Intercessors (assault or otherwise) or any other unit that leaves enough space left of the 10 capacity for him to fit alongside them. But delving into those options would be deviating from rules into tactica, so discussing it should happen elsewhere.
