With this new Edition you technically can run a pure Chaplain/Death Company list and be fine for everything except those pesky objectives but why worry about objectives when you are already in hand to hand. I think you are not getting a lot out of the DC for the simple fact of five man squads. I use to run them in 10-15 man blobs which would turn those three into one giant blender unit. The Death Company has never been a good unit to make multiple of with a minimum number of units the 5 man unit turns into at best a speed bump then 10 man turns into a lot of hurt the old 15 man was concerns for a lot of players I think turning two into one squad with Jump packs and add a Chaplain with Jump pack comes out to a squad of doom my loadout was close to 4 chain-swords, 3 swords, 2 power fist, 1 thunder-hammer try that and see if it helps with your concerns

Death Company: Inferno vs Plasma Pistol.

I would agree a good bit with Karhedron on this on. To add to the logic with the table being a lot smaller then 7th and older editions it is far easier to get into hand to hand by turn one if not turn two at the latest which only helps the BA and Death Company overall. If you are concerned I would mix it up for a game or two as you no longer have to pay for upgrades and see which one does your gaming area better for you. Also remember taking a Hazardous Test is not a real issue as That is Horus right there and you NEED to put out as much damage as possible as YOUR FATHER is on his way and you do not die from a PISTOL BLOWING UP. -

actually Intercessor squads and heavy intercessor squads are good for basic troop choices you can get some assaulty boys with assault intercessors which are also battleline choices... With 10th they threw everything we knew out the window...bring what you want and only certain HQ choices can be attached to other units... IE Terminators only with Terminators that type of thing so they cant tank all those hits for the squad anymore. The Dreadnoughts are doing great 2+ on average toughness 9...cant really speak highly enough of them Rhinos are and always will be the work horse of the Imperium but the new stuff works as well and its shiney...if you can pick up a 9th edition starter set with those cheap might be a good addition of models to your army. I know this is like 3 weeks late but I have been off the boards for a bit because of work... -------- But You need HQ choices Captain, Librarians (their powers dont have their own phase anymore makes it easier) and Chappys are always nice. I would run a captain with the sternguard and then get a terminator chappy for the terminators

Scouts - viable builds?
Chronotonic replied to newmajorpanic's topic in + WARHAMMER: THE HORUS HERESY +
I was going to use the Goliath models from Necromunda and put scout tops on there and use those weapons as the weapons for the scouts This guy has done amazing work and it seems to fit better then the old scout models they currently have... -

Bayonet vs Chain bayonet vs CCW
Chronotonic replied to RoadRunna's topic in + WARHAMMER: THE HORUS HERESY +
I was of the train of thought...and it might be my age showing... The pistol and fist was your basic attack...IE you have one attack...its from the gun and fist. Adding a chainsword gives you an extra attack IE pistol/fist and Chainsword stacking ...That being said I would rather my 10 man squad have 21 attacks and reroll to wound at strenght 4 then 11 attacks strenght 5... -

They are usually good in super dense terrain games or Zone Mortalis for the same reasons...the invuln save is nice but only a 5++ and not to be relied on... but it is still fun to watch a 15 man blob take that strength 10 demolition shell in 1.0 and walk out with 12 guys and they still have their melta guns -
