  1. After seeing the confirmation of the Christmas box, I might have to grab one. The combat patrol seems to be a decent addition to it too (extra fodder, and some units that don't appear in the big box for variety).
  2. Cheers sir. That box combined with the combat patrol sounds like it could get me plenty of troops, and then the tanks gets me an easy 500 points.
  3. Hey all. Thinking of doing 1k points of Astra Militarum. What's the best way of going about putting 1k together? 2 combat Patrols seems to be a quick and easy way, and it's relatively cheap too. However, I'm not sure 4 field guys and 2 command squads is particularly useful. Although I do like having 4 squads of fodder to march into the meat grinder. Any ideas of what to add to get the additional 500?
  4. I haven't seen this before, but it might be a good shout, as I am looking at maybe doing my force as Star Phantoms, so some heavy troops might fit the theme well. I do remember strike forces being released. Do you know if there's anywhere to look at their contwnts without heading down to the FLGS?
  5. I think they are called Infiltrators. Tbf it's more the lower legs that are skinny than the ankles.
  6. Hey all. Been out of the game a good while due to all the bloat that started in 6th. Thinking of putting a 1k points list of Primaris together when 10th comes around, but not really sure where to start. Is list building still the same, i.e. each unit costs X, and you follow a force org chart? Are there any good value boxes to start primaris? I don't like the skinny ankle models at all, and they appear to make up the bulk of the combat patrol. I will also add that I plan to do a codex army, as I find the non-codex SM armies a bit boring, ironically.
  7. Haven't even considered that tbh. Something fluffy most likely.
  8. Once the Dreads get released I am thinking: Iron Father 20 bolter men (suggestions on if adding a special to the swuad leader is worth it) 10 special or heavy guys. Again no id ehat wrapons would work best, so suggestion welcome, even if it is just for fluff reasons. 3 Contemptors. I'll do a mix of weapons but if somebody has a sweet loadout for them let me know. 1 siege Dread 1 tank. I'll probably add that one with the autocannons for fluff reasons. So what to add next? I do intend to get: 10x Immortals Probably a bunch more dreads A rhino or two Ferrus
  9. Not too bad. This is the first time I have been interested a GW game not set in a hive, in about 5 years. 40k requiring loads of new books and sets of cards every few weeks just put me off the game completely unfortunately, but I am optimistic that this game will be a bit more user friendly in terms of what is required to play. I want Iron Hands, and I have a few Mk III boxes and a contemptor I purchased on the cheap when these leaks first came out. I'll probably add an Ironfather, another box of Mk III, a couple of weapon boxes, a rhino, and another dread. The big cost will be if I and my mates enjoy the game enough to build up beyond starter armies, as I'll add Ferrus and a bunch of Gorgons in a Spartan. Plus more dreads.
  10. Love the Praetor of Orpheus and the Black Consul. The Ultra successors are very under represented.
  11. Every time you fancy a smoke do some painting. And every time you don't buy a pack put the money in a jar (it will add up). Also use the ETL as a way of keeping your motivation up. I would also rotate what you are painting e.g. squad, tank, squad, character, squad, tank, walker etc., as this will keep things fresh.
  12. That's how understand it. It still sort of follows the old fluff in that there are 7 battle companies plus scouts and veterans. Its just now they seem to be their own companies.
